Hey Randy here, just found your channel and really enjoy your videos. My wife and I rode the Katy Trail this past summer on our trip from NC to SD. What a great trail, we only rode from St Charles to Boonville where we went to the Lewis and Clark trail. Love seeing more middle age guys like myself (I’m 70) doing more adventurous stuff. Be blessed and keep pedaling ….. Randy
Tony you really threw me with that shirt on day one. Kept thinking a newspaper had blown up from the road and stuck to you. Enjoyable as ever. I Look forward to part two.
Hahaha, my sisters granddaughter bought that for me the night before so I told her I would wear it on day 1 of the video. It actually worked out om. Lol. Thanks Miles
I grew up a 1/4 mile from that rail line in the seventies. Remember when trains traveled those rails. Road the trail in the late eighties from Pilot Grove to Easley. Live in Rio Rancho New Mexico now. Keep On Biking!
Hi Ken. Thanks for the comment. I can't praise Missouri enough for what they have done with this Trail. South of you is the Monumental Loop Trail with Las Cruces being in the middle. That's definitely on my radar for cooler weather. Atb, Tony ✌
Excellent my man.i myself went from Montreal to st johns newfoundland back I'm the day.3weeks by bike.1980.im now in prague..people go from dresden along the vltava to prague by bike alot.thanx a million
Great that you could stay and do more pedaling around in MO and meet some interesting folks. I'd never seen a recumbant tandem bike! Looking forward to Part 2
Did you see how friendly some of them Missourians are? So nice to see that you're Number 1! You were speechless! Should have asked them what's "bugging" them!😂 Great video my friend! I subscribed! Best regards!
That was a fun video. I got to see things I've never seen before right here in my home state of Missouri! That was pretty cool that Brad met you. Already waiting for part two to hit RUclips!!
Missouri has done a wonderful job with this trail Rudi and I was amazed they maintain 240 miles / 386 km as well as they do. It was great. Part 2 gets a bit exciting ✌
Part 1 is not much different than many other videos on the Katy Trail but that will change in part 2. Missouri has done a wonderful job with this trail. I hope you get to try it Jay. ✌
I can honestly say I know zero about the Katy Trail. But it looks like they really take care of it. The cliffs you were riding along were very neat. And that train station ... amazing!
Missouri really does a wonderful job with the Katy Trail. Texas has been trying for 15 years to build and maintain the Northeast Texas Trail but for some reason our state government will not get behind it like Missouri has.
Oh yeah, the gathering the weekend before was more than a blast. Y'all would have loved it. 🤓 Missouri has done a wonderful job with the trail. Thanks for watching y'all. Atb, Tony ✌
Great video. We stayed in the Hartsburg city park gazebo and it was great. The bar wasn’t too noisy and the other noise you heard coming from the other side of town probably was a baseball game (free camping at that park too.) Thanks for documenting your ride!
Hi Pete, I'm sure you're right about the ballgame. My tent is not freestanding or I may have put it up in the gazebo but I've always been more at home in the woods until the next morning. There was a lot of rain.....a lot of rain. The next morning was a bit of a suprise. Lol. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it. Atb, Tony ✌
I really enjoyed this video! I used to live on the West end of the Katy Trail in St. Charles, MO and I used to take my kids down to the river all the time. I've always wanted to do this entire trail, I can't wait to see what's coming up next. Someday, I gotta do it!! I hope you don't have any more flat tires....
Thanks Paul. Missouri has done such a great job with this trail. Texas can sure learn a thing or two and use it on the Northeast Texas Trail but........ I hope you get the chance to do this. The best is yet to come ✌
Thank you Ian. I hope you get the opportunity to ride at least some of it. I was really impressed. I hope you get the chance to see part 2. Atb, Tony ✌
hi dear friend, very good bike ride, sometimes punctured tire brings good luck, you have a great shirt, and the landscape is amazing, and what had happened the next morning? hahaha, my like, greetings from Argentina
Hi Mark. I like to watch my buddy Ian from the channel Old Bum On A Bike from Queensland when he's cycling in Australia. Also there is a British Couple called Velo-Obscura who have been touring there for quite a while that I enjoy watching. I would love to have the opportunity myself one day. Thanks for watching and atb, Tony ✌
Hi Buzz. A lot of those kiosks along the way have water near the restrooms. A few did not but I never ran out of water. Strangely, they do have mile markers but they so not match the actual trail miles. I don't know why and I had that conversation with a few other cyclists along the trail. I really didn't come across any emergency stations. The many larger communities along the trail had signs showing the amenities available but I didn't notice emergency services. ✌
Hey Tony I'm going on a trip on a 24 inch mountain bike with a trailer do you have any advice for a like minded friend like me and when do you plan on doing the Texas tip to tip ride again if so you should ride from new Boston tx to San Antonio Texas
Hi Steven. If I had one piece of advice for anyone starting a trip it would be this... A long trip is 50% physical and 50% mental. More trips have been ruined by thinking it's to difficult or it's not the right time. Stick it out to the end and you'll have an adventure and memory to be proud of.
The Schwalbe 2.1 works out to just over 50mm and does a great job. Of course in mud it wouldn't be much good but for harsh pack and various road surfaces it's great
Oh man, this was a blast, Randy. After I rode the entire Katy Trail we stayed at my sister's in St. Louis where Michelle stayed while I was on the trail and had a good visit there too. So the whole vacation was about a week and a half. I do have a couple of south Texas two or three-day trips in mind for cooler weather and I'll get in touch with you to see if you are interested. I'm pretty slow though, you may get bored. LOL

I’m just watching this. I’ve been offline for a month of Sunday’s. This is just awesome!
Hi HMK. This was such a great trip. Definitely one of my favorites as you will see if you watch parts 2 & 3. Thanks for watching and ATB, Tony

Very nice! Trail looks good and looked like a fun gathering

Thank you Sergio. The flat tire must gave been good luck and it shows in part 2 🤓
26inch is the only way to roll out here in Australia 👍 we have some crummy roads and actually better trails to tour on bike. All the best mate.☮️

Ahh! I plan to do this trail next year. I had to postpone it a year. Bummed out honestly.
I hate you had to cancel but hopefully you can make it soon. I really enjoyed the trail and people I met along the way ✌
just enjoying another great video, then you encounter the jerk in the vw, geez!
Hahahaha, he was not Missouri's finest. He was still talking to himself as he drove away 🤓
Is it a storm? Is it a wild animal ? A visit from the man ? I like the cliffhanger endings haha
I'll just say the rain caused things I didn't expect. Lol. Thanks RG ✌
I was going to ask if they have water holes along the way? Do they have mile markers and emergency station?

That was supposed to be Hard pack. (Predictive text)
