I first heard this song in 2010 when I was in high school (10th Grade) I am now trying to get into a PhD in Biotechnology and last night I suddenly had a wave of nostalgia and I remembered the riff of this song. I immmediately got my electric guitar out and started playing the riff, and I could not remember the name of the song, the band or even parts of the lyrics. Nothing helped. Then I went through ALL the bands I used to listen to in high school- In Flames, Dead By April, August Burns Red, Miss May I, I See Stars, Asking Alexandria, Dark Tranuility, Spies Like us, Phinehas and similar bands, hoping that the RUclips recommendation algorithm will guide me here. And here I am, 8 years later! Thank you RUclips and your Artificial Neural networks. I love you

I heard the opening piano and it was really pretty, and then the growls kicked in and I was prepared to have to abandon thinking of the song as a "Pretty" metal one and just a straight up metal one. Not to be confused with thinking bad of it, just that I'd have to change what kind of song this new find would be mentally. Then the clean vocals came in and I was happy to know I had found another "Pretty" metal tune. They're few and far between and for me, they really make metal worth listening to. ^_^

And as soon as you start to describe why that song gives you that reaction, your mate will have a different reason. you're both having an experience, both of those are subject to your different tastes, interests, or passions. you can't label one of those as being better. it's a destructive mentality for musicians too. my mate is a class guitarist and musician in general, and he's afraid he won't do the project he's involved in justice, yet I know he's pure gold. that's a result of the "Who's better" mentality. it doesn't work haha, and it restricts your ability to do what you can do, but think you can't.
