Fun fact about horses on Red Dead Redemption 2, each horses temperament is RNG generated. So you could buy the same horse four times and get a different personality each time ☺️
I had to look this up, but found this to be a misconception. If you're experiencing difference in mood/personality, its because situations are always different (RNG) in RDR II and the horse being rather complex in it's reactions (RNG) for a video game mount, reacts accordingly to what's happening and how you handle the situation (more RNG). This doesn't mean that horse's personality is RNG per-se... you still have your racing types that are very spooky vs war horses that are very grounded during a gunfight. My most chill horses are actually working breeds like the Dutch warmblood. I leave that horse in one spot and it does not move at all until called, and that's not even on max bond, and in it's first gunfire it was rattled but stood it's ground. Meanwhile my Andalusian or thoroughbred will move when dismounted on max bond, but thankfully haven't had problems with any horse in a gunfight aside from thoroughbred's being a bit weaker, but a non-issue if you kill the enemies fast enough. I have had thoroughbreds, very reactive/spooky horses, not buck me off near packs of wolves because I kept the horse moving around and away from the threat, while I eliminated them. I knew how my horse would react, and used it to my advantage, its not because my thoroughbred is any different in personality compared to another person's thoroughbred. They are all spooky and way more reactive to aggressive predators than to gunfire.
As much as I LOVE Shimmer and Buell, I have to say that Agro absolutely earned that #1 spot. She's one hell of a horse, and I'm pretty sure she was the first one I ever really bonded with in a video game. I'd lie if I said I didn't tear up as I watched THAT part of this video. Long live Agro, the greatest horse of them all. Actually.. I might have lied a little. I used to be CRAZY about Starshine Legacy. Yes, the same Starshine in this video. In the 4th game of the series you played as Alex. Her horse, Tin-Can was really special to me. I think he was the first.

I remember when I first played Shadow of the Colossus as a kid I re-played that scene over and over thinking if I just did something different that I could save Agro from that fall, I was so glad to see her alive at the end
Just a note, but Shadowmere is obtainable in Oblivion as well, you just have to go through the entire quest line until a certain person dies and you are granted shadowmere as a reward for your loyalty. And she’s immortal 👀

Nobu/Sora/Kage should have had a spot on this list. The horse you choose in the beginning of the game Ghost of Tsushima, he is important in the story and actually saves Jin in the story. He is also useful, as he can learn in the dlc to charge at enemies and can wear a full armour and saddlebags to carry from ammunitions.
I just love Roach! (I know he calls all of his horses Roach but still) I mean, Roach never dies! Who doesn't love a horse that never dies? And don't even get me started on Dutch's horse 😍

I got super attached to the horse in that game, you can get some sweet quiet moments with them, and the protagonist will even refer to his horse by name
I can explain a bit about Starshine as I know where it actually originated from. ^^ The original games were called Starshine Legacy (various titles with different chapters of a big story) and i got them because they were part of the german PonyClub magazines. In the story there are several celestial god-like horses that look like average horses but all have great skills and can talk to their one destined rider (if I remember this correctly). So, for each of the 4 horses, there is 4 riders that you meat ingame right off the bat. However, for lore reasons, not sure why, the riders are ALWAYS female. I think they were also reincarnations of celestial warriors of some sort, at least the history of Jorvik has legends about that. So given the part with the telepathy was true, so was the other stuff. I'm not sure how or why the original story was butchered to become something cutesy and girly and MMORPG-like with only the name of the place remaining the same as well as the optical stylization, but the original had villains and dark plots everywhere and was much MUCH less little girl aiming territory but more for early to late teens that wanted an adventure (of trial and error and shitty controls, but none the less: ADVENTURE! ;v; ). Sadly a so called 'friend' stole my games and i only have 2 of the 4 games left in my possession. i never beat them either, so I do not and will never know the full origin of the game. But yeah, this is why there are only girl characters with less than creative-freedom names. Hope that helps.
Oh yes, I was looking for this comment. I remember the games from PonyClub as well. The original partner for Starshine was called Lisa I believe? And each of the four horses were good in different sports. I also remember a mission where you had to escape from some kind of dark facility/power station and I could not get past it because my anxiety was through the roof. That one was legit scary :D

In terms of RDR horses lets not forget Micah Bell's Baylock who might be the only horse who appears across two of the RDR games? Playing with low honour in RDR1 if you lose your mount you will summon "The Dark horse" who is in fact a worse for wear looking Baylock.

There is some speculation among Elder Scrolls fans that Shadowmere isn't a true mortal horse but instead a demon of Sithis, a sort of god of the void in the Elder Scrolls lore who the dark brotherhood view as their patron, in the form of a horse or a supernatural horse like entity of Sithis therefore can be whatever the rider desires it to be hence its lack of a confirmed gender as it can be either to suit the riders likes. This also explains it's immortality as it cannot be truly killed and since Oblivion and Skyrim are set 200 years apart explains why it is alive for so long. There is also another horse in the Elder Scrolls franchise that is often considered more popular by many players named Arvak, an undead skeletal horse with violet flames mane and tail from a dark considered often considered demonic realm known as the Soul Cairn. When killed Arvak can simply be re-summoned once he expires. While his health is weaker than Shadowmere he is immune to paralysis and his ability to be summoned means you never lose him and he can used in places of the game like Blackreach, the Soul Cairn, Forgotten Vale and Solthseim where mounts cannot be found or brought to. This often makes it a more popular choice among players.
I think my favourite horse would be Red Hare from Dynasty Warriors. I know it was a real horse, but in the games it's legendary. It's always the fastest horse you can get and was owned by 2 of the strongest warriors of the time.
My favorite video game horses of all time have to go to Buell (RDR2) and galarian rapidash. In fact, galarian rapidash is my favorite Pokémon ever. It's so cute, especially in the anime, which is biased because i love unicorns. As for Buell, he is the most stunning animal in video game history. *NEVER* have i seen anything like Buell. As a sucker for palominos, I am in *LOVE* with Buell's creamy golden coat. Buell just makes Hamish's already sad death even more depressing. I actually just recently completed Hamish's final mission and got his beautiful animal, but literally *RIGHT AFTER* i accidentally permanently deleted my progress. I want buell so bad 😭😭

And you can take care of your horse and train it and also train for competions. You also have quests, and trails you can ride on. But you can also get off the horse and walk in the village and they had shops you can buy stuff from. And there's different parts and alleys in the village. And later in the game you can buy a house in the village and decorate it. But it is a horse game just a very detailed one with a great story. And unlike any other game
i would never have come as far as i have without shadowmere. i, unfortunately, cannot see shadowmere as male and often refer to her as a she much to my brother's dismay (i blame agro and flicka for seeing all black horses as female), BUT she is my best friend in a world where everything wants to kill me. she has willingly taken many hits from dragons, diverting their attention, while i slunk off to heal myself like a dog with my tail between my legs. i love her dearly. i would have had many more deaths to my name if she hadn't been there :,) ("i'm fairly certain she is a daedric horse god in disguise so don't give her a reason to hate you" is my favourite line to use as my character valkyrie - who rides her - when she's threatening someone)

You forgot to add the fact that you have to pay for literally everything in star stable. Literally everything so unless your rich then don’t even bother downloading the game. I was so excited when I downloaded it only to be disappointed by the fact that I had to pay for everything
hi! This is just a question for red dead redemption 2...Could u play this game without the killing? Because I really wanna get the game bc i love horses, and it's one of the best graphics I've seen..and u have to pay obviously but my parents really hate the killing part and I mean I do too, and I'm really really hoping there is a way to play without the killing and only the riding-does anyone know how?
For rdr2, you don't have to necessarily kill other players or npcs, but other players might try to kill you (coming from somebody who was constantly attacked for no reason while playing, lol). You do also hunt in the game, which includes killing animals with guns, and bl00d is included after sh00ting the deer, rabbit, bison, or any other animal. Of course, you could also just ride around and explore with your horse that you start out with and try to tame wild horses that you see! Just keep in mind that other players will not hesitate to try and hunt you down for fun, and repeatedly kill your character. And don't worry, you can respawn lol! Your starter horse will be able to respawn as well when he/she is unfortunately killed, which is always a sad sight. I hope this helps though if you haven't figured anything out yet!
