@NUMBERoneCANIAC I have been trying my hardest to dissect the amazing sound of the World Challenge Corvettes for months now, and I think I have narrowed it down to the cars having a stepped 4-2-1 header on each bank mated to a common single exit exhaust. I havent had anybody actually verify that, and having a nice lumpy camshaft probably helps, but as far as that token high pitched scream (especially noticable when the car "barks" on a blipped throttle downshift), I believe its exhaust design
I was dying to know the build information, aswell. Quick google search led me to an article on superchevy - the article has enough detail to whet my appetite. Pretty mild, honestly. Beefed up stock displacement bottom end, 12:1 comp. Stock IM and TB. Ported LS3 heads with upgrades. Custom cam. Profab 1-3/4 headers. Check it out!
@NUMBERoneCANIAC No, that is mostly exhaust noise. You just barely hear the gear noise on decel. I'm sure the cam and exhaust are very different. The gearbox is going to be much more reliable with those faster shifts for one.
@michaelskeen Is that mostly just transmission noise? I've been working on an e30 with an LS2 in it and it sounds very different. What are the actual benefits to a sequential gearbox? I know their shift time is a little quicker but aside from that does it really make that much of a difference? I'm assuming you don't have to lift when you change gears but you can flat foot shift in any car if it has a two step limiter.
@michaelskeen Makes sense. I'm not sure how big of an operation CRP is, but do you know a kid who works there named Lee? He goes to my school and he tells me about how the team is doing every so often. If you guys need an unpaid intern to sweep floors or something this summer, the job market in Charlotte is awful so I won't have anything better to do. haha
@Dannnx0240 They sound mean as hell. I'm more keen on the sound an inline 6 (I'm a huge BMW guy. The only 4 pot I would willingly buy is an e30. haha) but these things don't sound too bad either. On a side note, the Lamborghini Murciélago R-SV makes one of the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard.
10 years later… still come back for the vrooooms
Fantastic!
The best downshift sound I think I've ever heard
Auto blip
that is easily the most brutal sound on this planet.. that's easily up there with fighter jets at full afterburner
Thanks for using a Contour HD, it sounds 100x better.

Nice to see you playing with the CRP folks again. ;-)
@giriphotography
He is using the Contour HD.
When racing cars had sound. Just amazing. Today all sounds like fart.
Great drive
@jkand No, it's an LS3.
@NUMBERoneCANIAC Yeah, I know him. As for internship, just call the shop...I'm sure they can find something for you to do.

A lot of anger in that engine :) I like it.
Is it LS7?
What a frothing rasping growl!

Awesome video, gotta ask what kind of trans./clutch are you using? Thanks
Think you could shift that fast?
Thing sounds so mean.
