    PG's Jordan Wagner is on location at Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago, where catches up with Russian Circles' Mike Sullivan and Brian Cook during the recording of their fifth album, Memorial. The duo reveals a close-up look at their studio guitar and bass rigs, which combine the gear they use live with numerous other pieces from their own personal collections and Electrical Audio's gear coffers.

    It's funny- I watch these videos to learn more about a player's gear, but usually, I just walk away with a much deeper appreciation for the player's technique and a reinspired love for their music... What an incredible series this is... :)

    • @SohamBhattacharya3105
      @SohamBhattacharya3105 9 лет назад +3

      +GuitarGear1 To be very honest this, Nels Cline's, Larry Lalonde's and Paul Gilbert's rig rundown were the only two where they actually showcased the player's technique and playing style. Most of the time, the guitarist isn't even in the video. It's just their techs or someone else going through gear.

    I remember seeing them at their second show at the bottom lounge when I was a sophomore in high school. They changed my life, and sent me on the musicians course immediately. And then some time later, my band at the time played with Raise the Red Lantern at the Sub T and their original bassist showed up and gave us great compliments which gave me a huge confidence boost. Hearing him speak reminds me of so many guys who live guitar out here in chicago. He is a leader in spirit.

    Thank you PG for making this video! Russian Circles has been one of my most favorite bands for the past 5+ years. I'm a bass player and Brian Cook has been a my biggest influence since the Botch days. I'm on my second Swollen Pickle after giving up on my first try - it was informative to see Brian's settings. I'm realizing that I took the wrong approach with my settings. I just wish I knew what he set his Clip and Voice settings to.
    Anyways, thanks again! Great video!!

    Mahogany is actually, at least these days, a bright wood. It's not the Mahogany that just makes Gibson guitars a little darker. It's the pickups, scale length, neck dimensions, neck joint and even the nut they use. Mahogany, in other guitars with different craftsmanship can sound quite bright and airy, more like a Telecaster.
