- Our live cover of "Wind Scene" from Chrono Trigger, originally composed by Yasunori Mitsuda. This arrangement by Patrick Bartley.
Who out there likes old school music? We certainly do. You know, a lot of music nowadays lacks a certain sensitivity, taste, that finesse, you know? There's nothing like a throwback slow jam to set the mood and make everything feel nice. And that's why we took it alllll the way back to 600 A.D.! Well... we can't say for sure if they were really jamming like this back then, but if they were--! Phew. At least, Yasunori-san seemed to interpret this time with this song, and all of us Chrono Trigger fans are certainly happy about it, for sure. Helping to ease it in like Sunday morning, Jake brings in nothing but good vibes on his first solo, with Jasper on a virtuoso yet smooth clarinet solo, and Mat finishes it out to set you down right--way down. If you're checking out this video, ya got good taste, kid! Now don't be an imp, and get off my lawn...

Heckin great way to start the morning, thanks! Who's still listening to this in 2300 A.D.?! :D
After listening to this I feel restored... But I'm still hungry.
Still listening at the end of time bro...
Only thing keeping me alive in those domes.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that xylophone solo was BRUTAL
Clarinet was just divine
It's a vibraphone actually! You can tell because of the metal bars and the sustained notes
Thanks for spreading the knowledge!
Thanks man!
The vibe solo was so killer, even Pat towards the end was just lost in it started going cross eyed! Could see it on the players face that he know he killed it
That clarinet was everything, awesome!
Jasper's the homie!
Thanks!!
Came here just to leave that comment. Huge thumbs up, Jasper the homie!
This clarinet player is my celebrity crush. Miss you all from Black Cat, hope you're doing alright in the pandemic. Enjoying your recordings to tide me over until I can hear you live again.
Self-quarantined here, was needing some beautifull, peacefull song to listen to. This made my night!
This and Corridors of Time have some of the most beautiful soloing I've heard and in general the Pocket Band members regularly perform incredible solos that make me stop and listen even if it isn't my preferred style of jazz. Outstanding musicians.
My absolute favourite Chrono Trigger track, you guys did a great job on it
This is living!
I remeber the Wind Scene the first time I played Chrono Trigger. The moment Chrono walked out into 600 AD and this music started I was hooked. This rendition took me back to that moment unlike anything else.
This is a truly me and the homies moment 🤩
the clarinet guy absolutely KILLED IT!
1:24 lol someone dropped their cup, amazing song too, I love this. Makes me nostalgic of something that didn't happen
This was sooooo good! You captured the feel of the song and made it your own, that's fecking amazing
Amazing guys, thank you.
I dropped everything the moment I saw this in my subs. Loving this cover!
Love you guys... watching people that make covers of Chrono Trigger around the world is beautiful... your art is great
Just magical
I didn’t know I needed a jazz cover of this, but now I can’t live without it
Even in Japan you're still uploading :D
Excellent. This song is so memorable and carries so much emotion.
Vibes solo was just stupid good. Amazing!
I hear you jasper!
Oh my god this is sick. Incredible playing from everybody, especially those solos! Such a good performance, really did the piece justice.
Love the performance; especially enjoyed the clarinet solo
The greatest love from Japan
I love the attention to detail in y'all's arrangements. Man... I love this. I'm loving these Chrono Triggers
I keep coming back, and I feel it more and more every time. Seriously, thanks so much for this.
Good combination! clarinet & saxophone
Lovely clarinet playing! ♡♡♡
Que versão maravilhosa! Esse solo da clarineta quebrou tudo!
Oh yes, you just made me love this song even more
I really enjoy your stuff, but the recordings are really missing the low end. Your boy looks like he's doing good work back there on the upright, but I can barely hear him. Drums sound way too tinny too.
Loving it!!!!
That vibes solo was amazing-killed it harder than Magus did to Cyrus...
;p
Too soon!
Had to stay after I saw this comment. And 100% worth it. We need more vibes solos on Earth.

If nobody else is going to comment on the bassist losing his mind covering fretboard on his solo, I'll do it. Nice work.
sick ...mario
BRB, removing "Benny Goodman rises from the grave to play my favorite Chrono Trigger music" from my bucket list. Think I'm good now. Well done Jasper!
GM Llama lol can’t say Ive heard that before, but thanks!
That was really good and finally all instruments were audible.
How come you made me cry with a Chrono Trigger song again? ToT
wow this is so great. amazing work y'all. everyone crushed it
I don't think anyone can top your rendition of this song guys -- really impressive. All CT music is some of the best, but you guys brought this track to the next level!
why is this not EVERYWHERE?!
This is my favourite Chrono Trigger piece
Crushing it!
Just beautiful
Hey Patrick, thanks for all you've been doing since you started picking the sax as your instrument.
Thanks a lot for this! 🙏
大好き
I've got a new favorite band :) great music, guys
This is too good, love it.
Been playing MHW Iceborne a lot and imagine these guys doing some covers. I'd hear the shit out of it.
Kierman I’m 100% behind this. I would love to hear them do the Selina theme
Wooooooooow that flute! ❤️
That clarinet solo was choice
1:37 looks like a nice effect of a bending note from the vibraphone, courtesy of J. Chapman.
Holy s***...
Beautiful.
すげぇ!
Very smooth n calming -w-
これは名曲だよね
Y'all are always so fucking goood
Amazing. Didn't know old JRPG BGM goes so well with jazz.
Interestingly enough, many of the japanese composers who made game music during this era were influenced by jazz and other american styles of music.
@Bobbias has hit the nail on the head but of course the skilled arrangement and brilliant execution by these talented performers really makes it a gorgeous performance. J-Music Ensemble/Pocket Band and The Consouls do some fantastic arrangements of VGM in general. Addictive stuff.
Someone dropped more than a beat at 1:45 and I actually turned my head to check the sound as I though that dropping noise was in my appartment, but I'm alone here... XD
I love Wind Scene
Very good!
can you make like sheet music for the sax part I wanna try and learn it sounds so great
impressive clarinet solo!
Eric Fontaine thanks!
i love you guys
This was so good 👍
Hot damn I miss hearing saxophone playing, modern music has lost its way. Great performance guys.
So good 😭💙
Vibraphone player looks like Ian Hecox. I can't believe this hasn't already been mentioned.
May I request the opening theme to Legend of Mana?
Awesome instrument choice! What made you guys want to use the vibraphone?
cuz it's sexy as hell
Kroy Wen true. I never really see it used though, so it caught me off guard.
It works especially well for Chrono music. Also yes it's sexy as hell
can i buy all the chrono trigger live covers somewhere?
Any chance you might cover some Ace Attorney music? Some great pieces of music in those games.
Yes! Also Hotel Dusk
Agreed ace attorney is fucking sick

@0:51 Jesus wept
the guitar player could've played palm-muted notes during the first part of the theme. the way he did sounds kinda off with the vibraphone.
just my opinion.
you guys did gooooooood.
Lisa simpson would like it
I like this entire playlist but it is a bit annoying that every single video ends with the Kirby song.
Why i see a Mario? Lol..
Oh you didn't play that mod?
I've neer clicked so fast in my entire life
The non functional harmony in this is orgasmic ♡
Why the saxofonist plays so loud? He even knows about the song? This is not a heavy metal song
The melody (played on the saxophone) of songs tends to be louder than the rest of the instruments. Think of how a singer is generally louder than the rest of a band; the sax fills a similar role in this group.
WOOMY yeah,it sounds louder because of the instrument, but you can fix it with technique. And it depends on the genre. In this kind of songs you don’t play like that.
If you hear it there are moments when he plays it softer and it sound good but suddenly starts to scream and thats so irritating
imma be real the sax player is the worst part of all these live recreations
