"When my time comes forget the wrong that I've done. Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed." sheds a tear everytime I hear it. It makes you wonder what legacy you'll leave behind someday.
As much as I love their older music, lyrics were always their weakness. They changed that in OML, and the first time I payed attention to the lyrics in this song I was absolutely shocked, and impressed. Truly amazing.
This song makes me feel like Chester knew something like his passing was going to happen to him in a tragic way. He knew he was gonna lose the battle, but not the war. And with his band mates keeping his legacy alive, they really did… Leave Out All The Rest. We’ll miss you Chester.
A lot of people started to go back and re-listen to the lyrics- trying to connect the dots. But I truly don’t feel that there’s a connection between the song and what happened. Mike even wrote about fans going back and re-listening to their lyrics in a song he wrote, “Over again”. “You don’t think I’m RAW? What the f*ck you take for? Now you go back and listen to what I said a hundred ways before…”
@@GabrielCroft To me I feel like Chester knew he was gonna pass on one day but I’m sure he never was thinking of suicide since day 1. That was probably just him telling his fans “Once I die, you better keep my legacy alive.” And that’s it.
I think that the entire album was hinting that this would be Chester's last album, and I also believe that he was hinting his own death. But most likely this is a big coincidence where the meaning of the album happened to match the events. Currently I'm refusing to believe that
@@WaterFudge69 Minutes To Midnight was back in 2007. I'm surprised that they didn't mention the music video's connection to the movie "Sunshine". I absolutely loved that movie, and the music video pulls a lot of ideas from the movie (in a good way). The last scene of the music video is breathtaking, but when you've also seen the movie, it brings more meaning for me personally because it just resonates. Thank you Joe Hahn for directing this masterpiece, and thank you to Mike, Brad, Joe, Phoenix, and Rob for continuing Chester's legacy so beautifully. RIP Chester
@@realcoopr3 They should def go back to space and make a video in memory of Chester on July 20 this year Also I just realized that Chester died exactly a month after my ex's birthday 🧐 R.I.P.
This song means a lot to me. Not only is it my favourite LP song, it's my 5 year old daughters too. I would sing it to her to get her settled and to sleep when she was a tiny baby. It stuck and we'd listen to it often as she began to grow and understand more. She used to ask me to sing it to her before she went to sleep at night and now she sings it on her own and often puts it on RUclips. This and one more light. I lost my mum 2 years ago now and the missus lost her mum the year before that. So both songs really hit home now, more than ever. LP and Chester will forever be a part of our lives.
I always loved the music video for this. Remember listening to this so much when we first lost Chester . Mike and Chester's and the band's writing on Minutes to Midnight was classic and legendary
"Chester and I collaborated a lot on the words" GDI that makes it even more heartbreaking...it's a good thing it was released a whole decade before so there was a whole lot of time to listen to it without thinking about the bigger context, because I have been just so conflicted listening to it since - I still do because it *is* one of their best songs and very much timeless, yes, but I'd be lying if I said I can sing along in its entirety without feeling teary. Wow. It's just that it's sort of like...such a universal theme, but each time it turns more and more specific. I'm sad. On the other hand, though, it's really heartwarming to see people all around with Chaz's memory still so present, and also the care with which the guys handle their legacy as a band and his friend's as an artist but most of all as a human being they clearly loved.
This is my number one Linkin Park song. My sister gifted me an mp3 player with very few songs, but Linkin Park's Leave out all the rest was the song I had on loop nonstop on my way to school. Nearly every day, I listened to it. I felt like I related to the lyrics.
This first time I ever heard this song was when Chester sang it in from of me live. I was so surprised when the mood shifted to this song. Now it’s truly one of favorites ❤
Man, I really hope we get a 20th anniversary edition of Minutes to Midnight and a 4K upgrade for this video. This is my favorite LP song, it means a lot to me.
"This is an underrated LP single" Finally! Let's appreciate this more, especially the addition to it in One More Light live with the piano and guitar before the first verse
Definitely in my top 3 LP songs! I am having this played at my funeral when I pass away. The song has so much meaning about reflecting on your life! Miss you Chester!
Speaking of their legacy, props to Mike Shinoda for carrying the legacy of LP by still making songs today. Chester wouldn't have expected this, but he would be happy.
It’s funny, so when “Hybrid Theory” came out I was like 13, super into nu-metal type stuff, but justttt starting to branch out into different stuff that was a little bit artier-Radiohead, Nirvana, small amount of more electronic-based stuff, so “HT” being a more intelligent expression rooted in that style fit perfectly. Years went by, I kinda stopped paying attention to LP, but I had one friend who’d remained into them the whole time, got this record the day it came out, and played it in his car incessantly. And I was really surprised, not only because the songs at their core were essentially very smart pop songs, but also because…I loved it. Especially songs like this, and “Shadow of the Day”; it was like they finally let their ability to use electronic and distorted side elements and channel them into really catchy pop music that still had all the weight and emotion from Chester’s words as well as the instrumentation, and let it shine, instead of trying to bury it. I dunno, I’m rambling here, can’t really express what I mean. R.I.P. Dave
Crying real tears right now. This is the song that made me a die hard linkin park fan. I distinctly remember hearing the song/watching the video for the first on either vh1 or mtv before school and just being like…oh, wow. It literally changed my life. If waiting for the end hadn’t come out on a thousand subs then it would still be my all time favorite song. As it is, it’s still an amazing number 2.
The factor that you use it during Twilight and a CSI part in the series, which was so weird for the music at the time when it feels like an Armageddon song to begin with.
I remember back when I was in high school. This was my stuff. I was really struggling with depression but I didn't really understand that. I listened to nothing but Linkin Park. This was one of my favorite songs by this band. I love this band still, and fortunately I am better. I look back and I'm glad that I know the music, the band, and I'm so glad to be doing better. I just wish I had gotten help sooner. Please those who see this, I just want you to know, YOU'RE NOT ALONE. YOU ARE LOVED AND YOU DESERVE SO MUCH MORE IN THE WORLD. I strongly encourage you to ge help if you feel you or someone you know needs it. Just wanted to share that memory. Linkin Park has impacted me so much and I still feel them today. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Favorite LP song. I got a waveform of Mike singing the chorus at the Hollywood bowl as part of my 1st tattoo. Wanted to use the actual song, but the Shinoda version looks far better.
It’s always been my favorite song. Definitely not underrated. I mean it even made it into twilight 🤣 Mike is just getting old, he forgets what songs belong to what album sometimes. This song is one of their most popular without a doubt
I remember when this song came on MTV after hearing couple of times on my CD components, I'll never forget that. the video gave me goosebumps at the end where Chester and the rest of the crew watching the sun reminds me of how the Red Giant come right towards at you at the end was emotional. Fun fact: there's another version of this song that has Acapella, Piano and string orchestra only which is can be heard on the episode of CSI.
I discovered the group with the minutes to midnight album when came out was about 6 if I recall. And to be honest leave out all the rest really stuck out to me. I don’t know why because i didn’t speak English at the time.
