I love how Thom has always used local and native phrases in both his idiolect and songs, hearing it makes the songs just hit home and more relatable, the whole band are a genius machine working in harmony
The Bends is kind of the forgotten Radiohead album. Everyone remembers Pablo Honey for its infamy and because it was the first. Then everything after The Bends marked the band's true proliferation and cementation as a truly important band. But their sophomore effort is often overlooked. There's a lot of good honesty on that record. Things about self doubt, loneliness, neuroticism.. Some of it is very emotionally powerful.
I think the overlooked album is TKOL. The Bends is pretty popular thanks to Street Spirit, Just, Fake Plastic Trees, High and Dry, and Talk Show Host (which isn't even on the album!). It's also the album where the band truly found their voice, with Fake Plastic Trees being the sole example of that.
@@Christian-97 YES DUDE, PLANET TELEX IS AWESOME it has an incredible piano with the tremolo at the start, and the chorus is amazing, and the fade out with the overdiven apreggi are incredible, AND MY IRON LUNG HAS an amazing guitar dude, the whammy is awesome in that song
Tom is the perfect example that you don't have to be hegemonically beautiful to be attractive, I wouldn't describe him as "handsome" but to me he is one of the most attractive guys on the planet.
The bends is my favorite era of Radiohead in terms of how the band sounded together and where they were musically. Oh and.......I genuinely enjoy pablo honey. The only song I hate from it, is ripcord. That's all. Just thought everyone needed to know and take in my opinion because it's so special lol sorry ha. Bye.
The fact that Thom used the word "paranoid" is so interesting, he clearly had a fixation of that word going round in his head at the time - in fact he'd probably written Paranoid Android by that time but hadn't recorded it yet. Also Thom is gorgeous looking?
