I was on antidepressants for 10 yrs (ages 18-28), and it's an absolute withdrawal when you get off them. Thank you for sharing and helping to normalize mental health struggles 💪

I’m fairly new to your channel and I just love your vibes. Also appreciate being real and vulnerable about mental health. It’s so important we don’t hide that stuff anymore! If you lived closer to me, I feel like we would be besties 😆🩷

I don’t think I’ve done more than one therapy session where I’ve not cried. I am very much a crier now. Also yes to the walk! A post- therapy walk is one of the best. Always helps.

OMG I would love a video about your functional medicine program! I’m starting with a functional medicine doc at the end of the month and I can’t wait but also have no idea what to expect ❣️

My husband’s psychiatrist just left the practice, so he has to find a new psychiatrist and I’m so worried. He(my husband) wants to be re-evaluated and possibly change his meds. This scares me because of the weening off meds part to start different ones. I know the withdrawal is real and I feel for you❤️ hope things are getting better for you and you’re feeling better xox

Hey Kayla! I am moving to North Carolina after I graduate in May. Do you have any advice for moving to Charlotte/apartment hunting, etc?

Omg the brain zaps are the worst and so hard to describe to people. I made the dumb choice to wean off at the worst time and was withdrawing on my wedding day/honeymoon.

I describe missing doses of my anxiety meds as glitches. I feel like how Vanellope von Schweetz from Wreck-It-Ralph looks.

Hi, I’m following this channel for quite some time now and I gotta ask is the medication you take for your mental health really necessary? It kinda makes you a little too über. I don’t know what you’re dealing with off camera but don’t you think that all your recent life decisions help you more than being dependent on medication?

    • @kayla.nelson

Hi! Thanks for asking. I am not dependent on medication, first of all. Even if I was that would be a conversation and decision between me and my doctor. Secondly I have opened up about being on anxiety medications simply as a tool in my life. I take necessary steps to keep my mental health in check, or as you put it “recent life decisions” ie exercising, socializing, sleeping well, journaling etc. Sometimes though it doesn’t matter how much of the “right things” a person is doing, you can still have altered brain chemistry that makes your thinking, mood, and general living just different. I’m fortunate to use medication as simply an aide in my life to reduce unnecessary anxiety, stress, intrusive thoughts, and depressive episodes. Hope this answers your question
