How to do Highlights on a Short Pixie Haircut (easy technique!) with BONUS Rose Gold color formula!

- Have you ever started doing a highlight on a short pixie cut and start getting super nervous because the hair won't cooperate or the foils are slipping? Or have you even turned down a highlight service on a pixie because you were too intimidated to do it?
I created this video because I used to feel like this too! I was so scared that the highlights would bleed or look like leopard spots so I would either turn down the service all together or have so much anxiety throughout the entire service.
Once I started using this EASY technique, I've never been intimidated to highlight pixie hair again!

I applied this technique today on a client who’s hair is shorter than the client in the video.. I applied a clear gloss to the hair so I could have control over the short hair.. very helpful.. I watched this video over and over again till I felt comfortable with the application.. I have been a hairdresser since 87.. and foiling real short hair gives me anxiety.. she loved it and I was happy with the results!! Thank you Jamie for your amazing videos.. always helpful..🥰😁

How to do it by self? I've been doing my hair for couple years but would like to do highlights on hair but foils by self seem quite difficult...any tips?
@@khiachenille834 Large mirror helps. Starting with the back first, when ten minutes go by, check on it, as it does take awhile and you don't want to overprocess it. Its alot of trial and error, you've really got to try it and see
First of all, you are so generous to share so much! There are so many options in the artistry of hair that it can be very intimidating and you make it so much less intimidating. Thank you! I have been looking for a tutorial on the reverse of this process. If client is already super short like this one and wants to go darker around the perimeter but blended not dark up to the length, then bam 5 level changes. Also, since so many are going natural gray, I'm thinking perhaps on short hair if I'd like to offer just a darker fringe shadow so their hair doesn't just say "old gray". And require tons of maintenance but give gray haired an option for just a little bit of something more fun than 'old grandma' choices.

I just did a pixie highlight yesterday, but her hair was even shorter and textured. Trying to get the hairs to work with me when applying the foils was nerve-wracking! I wish I would have thought to do the 'backwards' foiling because that would have helped, AND the diagonal concept... brilliant! I'll be using this from now on.

I love your video's . After 30 years I am still learning . I do find sometimes when doing short pixies I will dampen the section just a little and it helps with getting those sections to stay in place . I think your foils still managed to look nice . Mine look like a foil explosion at times ! :-)

Thank you, technique is good and the placement came out amazing. Personally I just didn't like the color, little muddy but that's just probably because I don't care for those tones. Curious if there were variations of colors on different pieces what that would have looked like.

I always used a cheater cap with a protective bleed through plastic as well. But these days its always foil I suppose. But snug frosting cap works very nicely too.

There seem to be many Wella Blondor products. Which one should I use? I want to add blonde highlights to my daughter's hair. Her hair is dirty strawberry blonde. Sally Beauty has a tub Wella Powder Lightener for up to 7 levels of lift. Would that work? Thank you for an awesome video!
Ive got a ckient with hair shorter than this and wants tighter foils and root tint inbetween for grey.... no idea if i can do. Think it beyond my skill set. 🤔
