Paul Ruane's & The Roscommon Reel

Some Irish guitar for the dreich back end of January. The first jig goes by one or two other names, but I first heard and learnt it from Paul Ruane, so seeing as he's no longer with us it's nice to remember him with it. The Roscommon Reel is a classic three parter which never gets worn out for me.
The guitar here is a 1980s Japanese dreadnought I aquired last year as a bit of a fixer upper. There's a bit of work still to do on it but so far I think it's sounding grand, and it's great fun to play! More music via this link: louisbingham.b...

Many thanks. This is standard tuning, not always my first choice for trad playing, but for melody it's so versatile and in terms of accompaniment for tunes in Em it's hard to beat. There are so many nice voicings to be had and the instrument just feels so open and rich in this key. Thanks for listening

I'm more of a finger-picker on tunes than a flat picker. But I really enjoy watching good flat-picking. To quote Duck Baker, I can flat pick well enough to fool someone who doesn't know any better.
