Fit Image to Canvas Automatically in Photoshop

Is there a "Fit to Canvas" option in Photoshop? Of course, there is! But it's named differently. Learn how to automatically resize and fit images to canvas in Photoshop. In this tutorial, we'll explore ways to not only import, resize and fit your images to the given canvas automatically but also learn to fit canvas to the image! Looking at strategies to handle very huge images on a small canvas or vice versa, this video covers all you need to know about automatic and manual resizing in Photoshop.
Unlike other Adobe applications like InDesign, etc. Photoshop does not exactly have such an option that allows you to fit anything to canvas. This still gives us no way to size an existing layer to the canvas. I've been searching for years and can't find a way to automate this. It's so dumb that in 2018 Photoshop cant size a layer to the canvas it resides in.

This is great. Your Tutorials and explanations are always the best to learn from. You once made an action that will do all of this. I remember the action file once saved had to always remain in the same output folder (I Think). I also think that the action fit the image to the canvas without the need to use the transform tool. I really love your videos and I watch them whenever I have a question because you explain things so clearly! One thing I'm really struggling with in relation to this video, is how to reduce the canvas size without cropping the image. And when I say image, I mean multiple layers that have already been edited. I accidentally edited something with a larger canvas than I needed. Now when I reduce the canvas to the size I need, the image is cropped and I've no idea how to make the edited layers just automatically fit the smaller canvas...if anyone can help me you'll save me having to pull my hair out!

1. select the area you want to keep using the rectangle select tool (or whatever select tool you prefer)
2. go on "image" at the top of your screen
3. click crop
