I'm writing a comment in the hopes that people would come to understand how incredibly talented this man is and how this song is literally a nightmare to produce for a songwriter. He takes on the challenge gracefully, restriction on language and the unfortunate nature of the length of the commercially viable attention-span becomes the whole punchline of the entire song. He plays the piano skilfully, sings well and manages to create a comedy song that doesn't stink (which is nearly impossible). This dude is a pro.

@Dsyncable @Bak3dB3an There are a few Americans that love this lovely lad. I am one of them. This audience is used to the overt slapstick of Conan, and were not prepared for the subtlety of Tim.

Maybe Tim was just really nervous about being on American TV.
I believe in him, though. I think he's going to be a HUGE star over here!

People keep commenting that the American crowd is terrible here, but honestly, I just listened to the BBC version and the crowd laughed about the same as this one.

I looked like he was having to read off of cue cards, probably since he had to change a lot of the references for an American audience. Tim usually has all his lyrics memorized, so maybe having to read them kept him from looking as relaxed. Still really excited to see today at the Balboa Theater, though.

I have always loved TimBut, you don't have to "laugh out loud" to think something is absolutely hilarious. Also, with the speed & tempo of this song, some words are rushed. We can hear a lot easier via a recording but sometimes live and in the moment it's not as clear so you have to be quite to hear it well. Everyone is quick to judge this audience or American's in general, but odds are, they liked him well and fine being in Conan's audience. We Americans can get understand good humor as well.

Clever. Most of us don't get humor that's actually clever. Or witty. Or intelligent. Of actually funny.
