@@Dakesthemanno worries! True crime in general tends to border on exploitative a lot of the time so it's really important to think critically about the way we enjoy it, understand that this happened to real people and treat the matter with compassion. OP could say, "thanks for another awesome job on the video!" if that's what they're trying to say you know. The words you use matter and it's good to be thoughtful about what you say when it comes to the stories of people who were murdered (edit: I'm using the word 'you' but I mean everyone, including myself. I'm not trying to point fingers at anyone)

There is a book about it but it's out of print. I'm related to one of the victims and have been on a few of the podcasts about it but that's about it. The families of the victims didn't want Sherman and his family to profit off the story or to be glamorized like Charlie Manson was in the media at the time. They refused interviews and no one spoke about it until well after Sherman was unalived by self termination.

Police Story S3.E1 Odyssey of Death: Part 1 & 2
    Hello Mr Jiles,
Thank you for your informative true crime podcasts (Monsters, Somewhre Sinister). I watch and listen and take them as cautionary tales. Watching these documentaries keep me aware of my surrounfdings, to always be on guard and -feel people out first. I admirre your easy-going manner of delivery, I applaud your disdain for these monsters and I love your empathy for the victims. The "Donut Shop Murders", I remember watching a re-run episode of "Policy Story " that was based on this case. It was titled: "Odyssey of Death"
I found it so very disturbing that a man would take his entire family on a killing spree. I never forgot that episode.
"It is never a mannequin" No, not a runaway (paraphrasing) T-shrts/merchandise coming anytime soon with that saying? Keep up the good work, and thank you.

Not to play DEVILS ADVOCATE, this is my 3rd viewing and i have to pont out THAT THE ONE COMMON FACTOR THAT KEEPS COMING UP
IN NEARLY EVERY C A SE LIKE THIS , WHEREIN A MAN BECOMES A COLD HEARTED KILLER, SERIAL, MASS , OR PSYCHOPATHIC, WE know he was bullied hopelessly in scho!!! So in jyles' own INTRO 😮
WE HEAR JYLES SAY THAT THE KID WAS " EXPELLED" , AFTER HE FINALLY FOUGHT BACK . THE PART ABOUT AFTER FIGHTING BACK WAS MY OWN VIEW. NOT JYLES' . BUT, DOES IT REALLY MATTER HOW THIS CHILD HAD DEFENDED HIMSELF IN THAT TIME AND SPACE?? When he was so much younger, was a minor, not a killer. Not a man. Just avterrorized, terrified, tortured, tired of being bullied
Kid who was once again scared out of his mind , no way out , but for his new protection that gave HIM THE COURAGE TO LIFT UP HIS EYES
FROM THE FLOOR AND LOOK HIS BULLY IN HIS TWO EYES FOR THE VERY 1ST TIME. A LIBERATION OF EPIC PROPORTIONS, EH? TOO BAD, SO BAFFLING HOW NOBODY WENT TO HANDLE THE TRUE ROOT OF THAT PROBLEM. I WONDER HAD THE TEACHERS , PRINCIPAL, NURSE, POLICE, HIS PARENT(S), DONE WHAT THEY
WERE EXPECTED BY GOD, AND SIMPLY DEALT WITH THIS BULLY, MADE HIM LEAVE THAT SCHOOL, AND MAKE SAFETY RULES FOR KIDS IN SCHOOLS RIGHT AT THAT POINT, MY LIFE IN SCHOOL FROM 1975 TO 1987-88:, WOULD POSSIBLY BEEN SOOOOOO MUCH BETTER.❤ 😢

How the heck did these 2 monsters get the 1st girl from Santa Barbara, CA all the way to Nevada? That's a long drive to take a hostage.

"Have his way with her." From my perspective as a female, I would love it if this euphemism for rape were never used again. If we could stop minimizing it this way, and just call it rape, that would be a good thing.

I disagree. The use of euphemisms is less of a choice, more of a can't-say-rape-on-youtube. Other true crime channels would omit talking about rape completely, for censorship purposes. At least this way, it's still being talked about, which is important!

It’s definitely a way to avoid RUclips censorship. They don’t allow any “sensitive” words. Or even the site of blood! I’m so disappointed with RUclips. I’m an open minded liberal but I don’t understand being offended by reality?

It is not his choice. He said rape before you-tube censored that word. And takes down the content. Just like child abuse, sexual assault, all sorts of things. Some people use initials.. SA, CA, forced upon, all sorts of euphemisms until RUclips takes it down. Then they come up with another. Look up list of words, subjects not allowed on you-tube content, subjects etc.
Some channels have been almost taken down for showing the face of a child that passed from child abuse. Even though they had passed and the content was made to bring awareness to the child's killer parents. Then when they blurred the faces to get the content back up they told them no pictures of any part of any child under 18.. it's all youtube politics, it is not Jiles choice of words... Add to that as mentioned above some channels have quit completely, changed their content, or stopped working for victims of crime because their ads and income are cut. Some channels keep going, like Jiles has. They just find a work around. People should be letting You-tube know that it takes away from what has happened to some people. I personally feel those that keep working for victims, not just glorifying the ones that have damaged so many, can call it whatever they want as long as they continue to put it out there that it's never ok!!

Hi…you have the murder of Sheri Martin wrong!!! Sheri was working, alone, at Winchell’s Donuts on August 12, 1971 on State Street (which is NOT a quiet street!) located in So Salt Lake City, Utah NOT California as you stated!! I went into that same donut shop a few hours before and asked her to put more whipped cream filling in my choc. covered long (like an eclair) donut. The next morning we heard the news. I will remember this until i die. Please get your facts straight! I love all your channels, but had to reprimand you on this one! May Sheri RIP! Gone too soon!
