This was fun! You are a natural with videos. I’m so glad you liked the samples. The bottles were purchased at an auction from an old turkey farm. They were brand new so I knew they were safe to use for ink.
Thank you so much, Robin! I love those cute bottles. They sort of remind me of the little Cracker Barrel syrup bottles, haha. I enjoyed swatching these, and have since put 4 of them into pens! I'm loving them! Thank you so much for your generosity! 🥰
Great video, thank you for sharing. You asked about fountain turquoise. A lot of Birmingham pen company ibis are named after colors from Pittsburgh (where they are from). There is a huge fountain right on the "point" where the 3 rivers meet. I think that color is what the basin is painted to give the water a clean blue color. So fountain turquoise is that fountain's color.🐸
Ohhh thank you! I didn't feel like the "fountain" was in relation to "fountain PENS," and I was hoping I was right, because I would've felt dumb if it was just basically "fountain pen turquoise." I'm glad there's an actual fountain. 😂 Thank you for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it! 🥰
I love love love BPC inks!!! i feel the 100mL bottles are kinda overkill with the amount in them, hoping beyond hope that they eventually offer all the inks in the 30mL as well as the 100mL most are currently offered in. this would also allow the batches to be stretched further giving more people the opportunity to get the various inks. just my two cents lol. awesome video!!!!
Thank you so much! Yeah I would probably have tried more BPC inks by now if they had samples available. I get why they don’t, but I just don’t usually jump in and buy a lot of bottles without trying them first.
🐸 Thanks for sharing all these BPC swatches from this very generous gift, so helpful :) I recently got a couple of BPC samples from an ink swap and fell in love with grungy factor of some of the colors, I placed my first order or 5 inks with them last week so I am hoping to post a swatcing sesh soon too!
I think BPC inks are well lubricated and some have surprising chromoshading or change color as they dry. Right after I submitted my comment you commented that Chysan Themum changed color as it dried. I am so jealous of this gift!
The only BPC I have is Abandoned Shipyard. Imagine my surprise to find it shifts to brown in natural light outdoors! Tea berry Icecream is next on my list
🐸 What an fantastic assortment! MUST have is that Frog ink. The swatch did it for me, plus the Tesla Coil and Southern Portal. My 1st thought when I saw the Projector Film ink in your notebook was baby poop green 🤷🏽♀️ but the swatch at the end redeemed it for me. Who knows, might get that one too.
Baby poop green is pretty accurate 😂 but you're right, it turned out pretty good in the end! Let me know if you'd like me to send you some of the Frog ink - I certainly have enough to share! Thanks for watching! 🐸🥰
Several of my favorites fro BPC are Heron (a blue-green), Prickly Pear (a magenta -purple) and Emerald Fusion (a darkish green that sheens bright emerald green). They are generally known for their complicated murky colors. Of those that you swatched, I really like Eroded Bronze and Pennsylvania Slate, though they are similar.
I could be wrong, but maybe the mom’s name is Chysan, like Chris-Ann, and they made it a play in words? I have read that BPC is a family run business, so maybe it’s a possibility? I have yet to try any of Birmingham Pen Co. products; however, they are a local company to my home town so I will support their business the first chance I am able 😊. Love your content! Enjoy your new inks!!
I wish that BPC did do samples... I just picked up a couple of bottles, but its gonna take me years to get through them... Maybe I'll start experimenting and mixing colors....Thanks for sharing! Loved the video🐸🐢
What a lovely gift! I have yet to try any BPC - they don't ship to Canada :( From the ones you swatched I think my faves are Waterfront Dusk, Hot Rolled Steel, and Southern Portal. 🐸
I have recently tried the BPC Abandoned shipyard and Pennsylvania Fieldstone and I love both of these colors enough to have full bottles. They are a little dryer than most Diamine inks IMO, and am still testing them in different types of pens. Im hopeful for the brand though.
There are so many colors I have on my wish list from BPC. I have Pennsylvania Fieldstone and Terracotta so far. I love them both. I've had Pennsylvania Fieldstone inked in apen for over two months now lol Eroded bronze and Antique Sepia is on my list. 🐸
@@gingerpeachy I have done pretty good at holding back, considering Ive had about 7 on my wish list 😁 I really wish they would add samples to their website.
🐸 Ive really been loving Pelikan Rose Quartz. I’ll be curious to hear what you think after you’ve used it a bit. I’ve only used it with a titanium nib with and ebonite feed so I haven’t run into any issues with it feeling dry, but your comment about it being a little dry makes me want to try it in a different pen so I can get a better feel for it’s flow. I love how it shades though. I didn’t expect it to be such a pretty color when they first announced it and were showing teasers.
I’ve got it in a medium Jowo steel nib, and it doesn’t feel as dry as I expected! Honestly not really at all. It isn’t the wettest ink, and it sort of goes down lighter and darkens as it dries. I am enjoying it!
@@gingerpeachy I also just got my first BPC inks today. I wasn't expecting them for a bit. And one of them happens to be Fountain Turquoise. I have no idea what I am going to do with 100ml bottles of ink, but I better start writing! 🤣
Wow! That was an amazing amount of very full samples! I have been looking at their Lichen. I'm mad at them right now because I fell in love with an ink sample, but the ink is not available! 🐸
Does BPC have standard-line inks, or are all of their inks limited/special editions? And yes, Robin was so generous! I didn't even show the other goodies she sent! 🐸
@@gingerpeachy I have no idea! I have never bought from them before. They don't ship to the UK and I was in Pilot Iroshizuku mode when I was last in the States. So much cheaper there!
Oh how fun! To me, ink swatching videos can really feel like I'm sitting at a table with a friend and chatting about ink. Thanks for inviting me to your table! lol 🐸🥰
I need to practice with my Kakimori nib too. Or use it more to smooth out the edges because it seems scratchy if I try to use it for thinner writing/sampling.
Yeah, I have really only used it for videos. I need to get to my desk and just sit down and write and play with it for a while. I really like it, I just need to get used to it!
@@gingerpeachy Well drats if I would have paid attention earlier I would have, but looks like too late to register now. 😢 Will have to pay attention for next year!
You can still come! You just won’t get the freebies if everyone shows up. But there’s a good chance someone won’t come. I am sort of accidentally the hub master this year, and I hardly know anybody! Please come!
I don’t have the plans put together yet. But try to keep that evening free and as soon as I get a list of participants, I’ll make sure to add you to it. Send me a message if you’re on IG, or an email at gingerpeachysarah@gmail.com so I can get you the details when we start working on it!
🐸🌱🌱Thank you. This was interesting. Love the ink play. Have you tried playing with water and inks for pattern formations? I am putting water, lines, and dots of ink on a page in my note books and then fold them to make nice flowing colors in the margins.
That sounds like fun! I have a page in that notebook where I drew a pattern with fountain pens and then used a water brush to make it look almost like watercolors. It came out pretty good! Thank you for watching!

I was so surprised that she sent so many inks for me to try. So far, I've really been enjoying all of the shades I've put into pens!
That’s how I thought of that nib too. Until I just heard you explain it. Mind blown
I'm glad I'm not the only one! People kept talking about how it holds SO MUCH INK, so I just assumed the whole nib was filled with ink. lol
Oh how I wish I could get Birmingham Inks in Australia! Beautiful.
