    Thanks for sharing! The feeling of overwhelm is also what tells me when I’ve reached my max. I also thought that small pen was a pen cap until I saw you post it!

    The hilarity of seeing the longest pen against the shortest is quite a joy. :D Thanks for participating. I've also been participating in the 8 pen questions on Instagram.

      😂 They are my most unusual pens, for sure! I love seeing them next to each other. I don't have the talent that some people have to decorate planner pages or something while I talk, so I just needed a bit of eye candy! lol

    That fairy wand is so great! I love your answers. I wish I could settle down on the ink sample acquisitions.

      Thank you! 🥰 If you're enjoying your samples, more power to you! Ink swatching isn't my favorite thing to do, so I don't get too excited about trying inks anymore.

    Wow, that Lamy is bright! 😮🤗
    I like how the Papier Plume ink looked. Lie de Thé is one of my favorite brown inks.
    One of my pet peeves is not being able to see the ink, clearly, when I put it in a finely nibbed fountain pen.
    I might have missed it, but what is the name of the super long pen that you have lying on your desk?

      It's a Fairy Stick by Russ Pens! This material is by beartoothwoods and it's called Fairy Lullaby, I think. But Russ has made a bunch of these Fairy Sticks in the last few months, and they are fabulous! I agree with you on not being able to see inks in fine nibbed pens - I just cleaned and re-inked a pen this evening for that exact reason. Thanks for watching! :)

    I totally forgot about that Schaefer calligraphy pen set! My parents got me one when I was a kid, and I was… not every gentle with it. I remember stabbing the pen on the paper whenever I used it because I was frustrated with how stiff the nib it was. My 10 year old self also did not understand how my practice calligraphy looked so different from the examples. 🤭 I still have the set - I wonder if the pen + cartridges would still work. I’m glad you came back and recorded this video! Very cool to hear about your dad’s influence on your fountain pen history and that highlighter yellow lamy that really kickstarted it.

      Thank you so much! 🥰 Same experience with the calligraphy sets - I thought I was writing so beautifully, but I still have them now, too, and my writing in the little workbook is hilarious. I was in like the 4th grade, to be fair! You should break out your pens and try them out - that would be a fun video! I might do the same! haha

    You were one of the first pen people I began to follow. If you sell the Benu Spring Bloom, think of me 🌸🌸

      Ahh thank you! 🥰 I keep considering selling it, but haven't quite made the jump to "I can part with this" just yet. I will think on it some more now that I know someone's interested!

    So, I love Benu, but don't buy them much because I can't see the actual pen I am buying and there have been cases when the resin I got was not nearly as pretty as the one they showed online. I wish that the big pen companies would be willing to post pictures of the actual pen. I mean, these are expensive pens and other makers are willing to do it why can't the pen companies have someone on staff that will do that? These are not $50.00 pens, these are expensive. To me, there is no good reason they can't do that. So I agree with you, we should be able to see the pen first.

    • @gingerpeachy
      @gingerpeachy  5 месяцев назад +1

      I've been disappointed by more than one Benu pen, myself! I do think that it would be a lot of work for pen shops to photograph and inventory thousands of individual pens, but it would be nice for sure! Some of the pen shops will very kindly take a photo of the pen they pull for you ahead of time so you can approve before they ship. I think that's so kind of them. On the upside, this "fear" of getting a disappointing pen has saved me some money over the years! lol

    It seems like most people who have lots of experience with FPs and most "penfluencers" much prefer XF nibs -- the finer the better. Why do you think that is? I've tried to go for fine nibs but I just prefer mediums so much more.

    • @gingerpeachy
      @gingerpeachy  4 месяца назад

      I have felt that way, too - but there are some penfluencers who still love their super broad, juicy nibs - just take a look at Gourmet Pens! Maybe it's that feedback can be an acquired taste. When I started, I only wanted nibs that were super buttery and wet. I still want smooth nibs, but I've decided I like my handwriting better with a finer nib, and I think I use a lighter touch with finer nibs, too. And I don't want to be as concerned about paper quality all the time. I also have become less enamored with fun inks and seeing all the special ink properties you can see in broader nibs. I think I've become more boring, haha!
