Burning Pantanal | Who Started the Fires?

- Опубликовано: 29 окт 2020
- Fire isn’t new to the Pantanal, the biggest tropical wetland in the world. But this year, the flames are out of control. More than 22% of the Pantanal has gone up in smoke since January 2020, and the blazes show no signs of stopping . . . ↠Subscribe: ruclips.net/user/TerraMaterO...
Is this all just the result of climate change? The answer: no. Human activity such as deforestation and cattle ranching is encroaching on this precious ecosystem and causing it permanent damage. We take a closer look at the threats and ask what the future might hold for the Pantanal.

Keep a watch on India's new EIA ( Environmental Impact Assessment) draft, it will derail most of the good environmental conservation processes that had occurred in the country. Otherwise you'll have to do similar episodes about Indian forests in coming decades.

Terra Mater is really covering the big picture: wildfires in the Arctic, California, Australia, Brazil.. they're all connected.
I know! It's almost more noticeable when you hear somewhere isn't burning.... Like Japan. Wonder why? Maybe we should all move to Antarctica
@@Dierking26 And destroy Antarctica too!? Let Antarctic wildlife atleast be free. We humans have hunted sooo many animals to extinction. Let Antarctic wildlife be free at least
Let us hope the Congo isn’t next. They have the largest intact rainforest left.

Climate control failed. Now it’s climate change. Ask Al Gore how come from Florida sea isn’t in iowa. He said by 2006 it will be a catastrophe. He now owns a badge off the coast of California.

This is the best movie about this problem!!!! Watched video on the background to California’s fires. It's such a big problem..Thanks for your important and beautiful work! 👍 I like your channel and subscribed!
Thank you & welcome to our channel! Great to have you here.
If californias and Oregons stupid governors would do more work on our forests removing dead trees and brush it wouldnt be that bad and actuallybe good
Your videos and videography are excellent. I very much enjoy the structure and clear presentation of the information in this and other short films. Well organized and narration is clear and concise, and does not have that ridiculous cut-breath dialog that is too fast and really annoying. Brilliant and keep up the good work.
education, awareness and sustainability are the most important modern qualities humans now require to try to not kill the earth with them in the next generation or so
You're absolutely right! 👏🏽
Keep shedding this light amongst us Terramatter... Wish this video reaches to as many people as it needs to stop this chaos happening...

Is there any place in this world we haven't destroyed yet? Image the day humans leave this planet earth what a relief it would be for whatever is left.
We haven't destroyed anything
Humans will never leave.
Even when we colonize other worlds, some will stay behind in the known relative paradise that is earth.
Eventually the earth will become uninhabitable, and only then will we all leave, and even then some will choose to stay behind and hang on.

Make a video about The sundarbans which the world largest mangrove forest. It’s being destroyed by climate change plz make a video about that

Won't be long until it's all gone. One of the most beautiful places on earth. Antarctica will be next. It's sad.
Antarctica is mostly dead, so it wouldn't be a bad thing if we colonized it.
Antartica is naturally going away its what is left after the ice age its melting away like the ice that used to cover America all the ice will go away then after that in a long time there will be another ice age
@@Levimillsap07 Dude the America you see on a map is land, mot ice cover supported by nothing but the sea.
When the world warms all the way up, North America and the very bottom of South America will basically get a bunch of newly usable land.
Whether it outweighs the lost productivity from drought in the former heartlands, idk.
It will all grow back and better than before
Such a rich natural life

All the people commenting here so happy to see we all love earth so much! But we still do everything to destroy it. Save earth by lowering consumption of everything you do. Only together sustainability will thrive.
Lowering consumption is a really good point, thanks for addressing it!
Government policy for private land claim should be revised. They must take environmental protection into account as well in the law.
They are capitalist the moment they try to mess with private owners/companies the entire world will fuck them over
I dont know why but i think animals deserve to live more than us
It breaks my heart. How can we care our earth?
Oh no
Its like we are waging a war against everything else.
I wonder what the future will look like within 50 years.
well sombody gotta create jobs so this will keep happning .
They create the problem and give the solutions..
There should be bunch of guards around the forest to decrease deforest
Us humans will never learn because of greed and these people will not stop on till there is nothing left
If everyone in the world consumes resources as much as people in USA or Europe do, then this earth is not enough. To solve environment problem reducing the consumption is important.
Am I first? Nice video! I would suggest a video about cougars or wolves if you need suggestions :)

I'm amazed someone took their time to watch this and then DISLIKE the VIDEO!?! ... I mean REALLY!?! .. I wonder what's their reason.....Hopefully the dislike is for the deforestation and the effects it is causing to our ecosystem...

We can make this burned forest area again green if we want but no one country interested in it 😓
This is so sad 😭 bit seems like we have no long time to go ‘ goodbye earth 🌍
Mother Nature will bring catastrophe that we will regret later for being reckless
Most importantly is there something we can do
What can we do now
The answer is with us friends, " its our diet !" . If we stop eating beef , the demand for more cattle decreases and so brazil further doesn't need to increase its farmland. This provides the ecowarriors with a strong point to fight with governments to take necessary actions. everybody can be a part of this . there are better vegetarian alternatives to beef , I myself shifted from non- vegetarian to vegetarian after seeing TERRA MATERS video on "our diet" . your small actions can save the pentanaal.............
NOTICE to chef: please, stop making the food containg beef tastefully. so that people would start hating it. your action would be a major step towards saving the climate....
We're thrilled that you shifted to a vegetarian diet after watching our video! 🌱😍
That's really awesome, thanks for letting us know! As you've already said, everybody can be part of a better future by doing small daily actions! Keep up your motivation! 👏🏽
@Dazzy They turn it into pasture. Further north, some is also being converted to soybean fields.
What are the immediate steps to protect the forest lands ? Starving people which is a supplement of excess income generation ?

why who can do something, do nothing?
Probably they did and got k1lled. Brazil is the country where environmentalists are k1lled the most. But what bugs me the most is: if the vast majority of environment destruction is caused by the meat industry, as they show in this video too, why isn't everyone in the world going vegan? I'm doing my part here in Brazil but most of our meat is sold abroad. Even 80% of our soy goes to China in order to feed their livestock
Viruses can do something. Unfortunately, even COVID-19 can do little to reduce the human population. What the Earth need is a virus that is as contagious as COVID-19, as potent as Ebola, and as hard to cure as HIV.
Release it.

Everywhere that our forests are being destroyed, it seems that the cattle industry is to blame. And why not.. it makes for the single source of livelihood for millions of families/billions of dependant humans.
In the "struggle to survive" and make a living, we exploit the forests around. And unlike the old days, today's cattle industry is global, and the demand has exponentially increased - correlated to our burgeoning population. Those cleared forests later get converted to farmlands, and ultimately become permanent settlements, which means a loss of grazing lands for the cattle. Then the ranchers needs to find (prepare) new lands - and guess how that comes about. There's no way out of it if we have given a priority for cattle to thrive. Countless creatures decimated in the fires we set, with many species facing extinction, and perhaps species that were never even documented being taken out, leading to an ecological collapse in several ecosystems on our planet - which is still subtle enough for a human lifetime. It may have been our road to this modern technologically enabled civilization, but this has to stop.
Someone please enlighten me on how to fight this cattle situation - I can impulsively cut the milk or meat in my life, but then there are thousands of derived products like chesse, butter, sweets, cakes, leather.. almost every other item in my life comes from cattle. There are going to be more humans who will demand more cattle which will take its toll on all forested lands sooner or later.
You can't change a global industry without getting rid of private ownership because every individual/company wants the maximum profit there is no real incentive to preserve anything if half of them understand the damage they are doing they probably just hope to get enough money before it all falls
THIS SHOULD BE THE NEWS! THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE TOLD.... BUT NO, that damn news never tells you anything constructive, just that the Amazon is dying and than just flips off to the next subject, leaning you uselessly horrified! I hate that!
Thanks for constructive and making me believe in solution!
The Brazilian government should teach those new farmers ecologically! Or send them AWAY!
Sadly they are capitalist so the number 1 rule is to never annoy the private owners or the rich would force them by force or corruption
Teachers teach us to respect elders but I will never do it because these same elders are making the Earth a living hell for the next generations
Have respect but just proves that we are right.
You're not supposed to respect elders. You're supposed to respect YOUR elders.
Everybody else's elders are meaningless. Your own elders are the only ones who care about your future.
