The funny thing is that the made some of the lost boys into girls for feminism.
But in the original story there weren’t any lost girls because girls were too smart to get lost.
So essentially the original story was more feminist.

This new movie was soulless. It’s ironic. They make a big deal about casting a black woman as Tinkerbell, but remove all the qualities of the character that people love. She’s so irrelevant to this story now. She’s just there. Her death and resurrection means something in the other interpretations. Her jealousy of Wendy matters. Her relationship with Peter matters. She has depth. All of that is gone. They could have showcased Tiger Lily’s tribe and their culture since the 1953 movie had such a controversial depiction of Native Americans, but they don’t. She’s just there. They have a lost boy with Down Syndrome, but give him two lines and mostly just keep him in the background. There are girls in the lost boys now. Why? Because there are. Why are they called the lost boys then? Who knows. There’s no reason for it.
They’re parading these changes like they’re being “diverse and inclusive” when it’s the exact opposite. They’re using the way these people look, and that’s it. They aren’t characters. Wendy even says “oh you’re ___” when a new character appears so the audience has a clue who tf they are. Beyond lazy.
This movie is so far and away from what the Peter Pan story is. They remove Wendy’s maternal role and flirtationship with Peter in the story and make her an “independent girl boss” removing her purpose in the story completely. Her happy thoughts are her living her life alone. Gimme a break. The movie almost feels like it’s pushing an “anti mother” message. An “anti childhood” message. They sucked all the magic, the heart, the SOUL from this story. Neverland is dull and desolate. It doesn’t look like the place of a child’s imagination. Peter Pan has 0 charisma, 0 charm. Captain Hook is all of a sudden a sympathetic character? Just have him be a bad guy!!! That was such a half baked backstory and the execution was embarrassing. No plot point or character has any nuance. This whole movie is a nothing-burger. It’s soulless corporate garbage.

Again, like their live version of Pinocchio, or other films like The Woman King, or stories about social stratification in Victorian England depicting all black people as wealthy nobles, the wokeness managed to completely undermine the story's messages. In the book, the Lost Boys are described as having no girls beccause girls aren't stupid enough to fall out of their baby carriages. Wendy plays a maternal role to them, and it is her mature maternal instincts that inspires growth in the boys. But they instead choose to throw out all motivation and growth and learning because everyone starts out as ideal (which, by woke standards, means rude, selfish, and rejecting love as weakness) cookie-cutter figures with level playing fields instead of facing adversity and difference, and even finding value in differences. That's why the woke movement is undermining black rights, women's rights, gay rights, etc. It is a self-destructive movement of ignorant fucks whose sole value is being different for the sake of being different, and yet vilifying and denying difference simultaneously.

The problem with the remake is that it was poorly planned and done, the acting was unimpressive and the dirty swamp filter ruined the movie experience, as well as made scenes look empty and dull. As an avid Minecraft player I can tell you that its believed status as a mining game is a very common misconception. Actually, it primarily teaches children to commit war crimes. All of the best farms in the game (gold farms, iron farms, raid farms, trading halls) rely on either genocide or slavery, sometimes both.

I just rewatched the 2003 version. It was beautiful, funny, magical, good characters, everything this movie is not. When Peter got wounded by Hook at the Black Castle, for the rest of the movie you can see that scar. The fairies were beautiful and GLOWED, music was fantastic, there was character growth. One shot from that movie had more color than this entire movie combined

The fact that they called the film "Wendy and Peter Pan" by making Wendys name the first one proves how woke it is, it reminded me back when in Lucifer in the season where they introduced Eve into the story and how when someone says "Eve? like from Adam and Eve?" and she complains that it should be her name first. This woke stuff has been a long time coming

A Peter Pan villain story would have been amazing if they leaned into it. Imagine if Peter Pan was immortal, and all the Lost Boys eventually grow up to either die by Peter's hand or run away to become pirates. Tinkerbell keeps kidnapping children and Peter Pan keeps playing God in his Never Never Land.

Wendy’s sword fight with her siblings in the new Disney movie is both curious and disturbing. In fact, it tells how the myopic ideological vision of the movie’s writers conceives of her. Supposedly a typical Victorian pre-teen (12-13), who is middle class but just barely so according to J. M. Barrie’s literary description, she enters into a play fight with her younger siblings in the new movie. Desiring to win against her brother, she pursues the contest with a ferocious seriousness. With an energetic stroke, she knocks the wooden sword from her brother’s hand, sending it flying into a mirror and breaking the glass. Hearing the commotion, her parents come into the room. When confronted by her father, Wendy’s brother is truthful. But what does Wendy do? To escape personal blame for her behavior, she accuses her siblings of breaking the mirror. After her father leaves, her brother calls her out for the lie. Unperturbed by her brother’s challenge and her own deceitful behavior, Wendy coolly replies, “You’re a pirate, aren’t you? It’s every man for himself.”
So, what does that tell us? Wendy is both cruel and duplicitous, resembling much more J. M. Barrie’s literary description of her self-absorbed and less-than-honest father, George, the patriarch of the Darling family. Barrie’s description of him makes him more like the despised image certain feminists entertain of manhood. For example, had it not been for the cajoling of Mary Darling, none of the children would have been born. So Wendy comes by her lack of desire for children quite naturally through her father. He objected to children because they were too expensive; Wendy simply thinks that they are too much of a bother. Consequently, Wendy’s longsuffering mother seems to be more mature than both her husband and her eldest daughter. So it would appear that the movie has given to Wendy her father’s selfish and blustery personality that we find in Barrie’s book. And like her father, Wendy has no moral compunction about accusing others in order to avoid personal blame, something the compassionate Mary Darling would never dream of doing. Moreover, Wendy justifies taking advantage of her brother by saying, “It’s every man for himself.” And note, she does not say, “It’s everyone for himself or herself.” So, there are two things here: first, Wendy instinctively identifies as a man; second, moral rules don’t apply to her.
How does her story arc progress? In Neverland, she learns how to be even more of a girl boss. We don’t see the feminine strength of her mother. What we see is masculine bluster. She bitch slaps Peter for being reckless, something we could imagine her father doing. With Tiger Lilly, she takes command of the Lost Boys and Girls as we might imagine a military commander doing in England’s colonial service. As a preteen, she fights off adult pirates who are more experienced with swords and physical combat but lack her Victorian entitlement. She saves Peter Pan, as does Tiger Lilly, because Peter Pan is weak and incompetent and cannot save himself. Then she brings the Lost Boys and Girls home to Victorian England, where those unprepared children will very likely face a dismal future in the orphanages and workhouses of that period, for her parents certainly lacked the resources to care for them. By taking them away from the magical Neverland, in no way did she do these children a favor. So, Wendy begins her arc as a liar and ends her ark condemning children to live in those places, as we learn in A Christmas Carol, that Scrooge supported with his taxes. But unlike Dicken’s character who is transformed by the events of the story, Wendy learns nothing at the movie’s end. Presumably, she simply embarks upon her “happy” life as an author, traveler, and adventurer-devoid of a husband and children--to achieve her goal: to die of old age, alone and forgotten. What an inspiring message to offer girls and young women.
