Nick Cave is the most gifted and talented musician of our time .He is unmatched.
My husband passed away in September of 2022. I couldn't listen to music for months, and then Ghosteen found me. I'd never listened to the album all the way through, and it moved me so much it is hard to put into words. It felt like I was reaching Patrick, that the album was on another plane. Every time I listen to it, it's like I'm finding him again. Nick's gift of song is a blessing to so many who are broken by grief.
I never imagined that the guy fronting The Birthday Party would transform into this. It's soul-piercingly beautiful. Nick's voice now has a new resonance, a quality that brings tears to my eyes whenever I hear him sing.

I have had some serious health scares lately. I have a 4-year-old, and I've been feeling more than a little maudlin thinking about the possibility of dying while she's so young. Naturally, I sought out solace in this song. My daughter was playing in the room, seemingly not paying attention. As the song ended, she looked at ne and said, "That was a cool song. Look for me." She almost never responds like that to music. I'm floored.
Comforting to know we don't have to face the abyss that is grief alone. I'm 66. There is something about our boy Nick that says rest awhile in my performance, gain what strength you can, and carry on. I'm reminded of a line by Chrysta Bell in David Lynch's Inland Empire: "I breathe again and know I'll have to live./ To forget my world is ending, I'll have to live." Nick was destined from before birth to be the"bosom of Abraham" for many of us.
I lost my son in Sept 2021, and the music of Skeleton Tree and Ghosteen speaks to me like no other music has since then. You offer me a journey from hell and desolation to something like hope. Thank you, Nick and Warren.
This entire album is incredible. Having also lost a child, it resonates deeply with me. Thank you for creating such a special thing.

Andrew Dominik and Nick Cave is a duo that can never fail
My mother passed away the week after Ghosteen came out. I had only done a quick listen to it when it first released it, and it took me 6 months to finally listen to start to finish again. It broke me like nothing had to that point. Its a piece of art that will carry so much meaning to so many people.

love how it's revealed it's two dollies on tracks! As a filmmaker and Cave super fan, I think this video truly captures the essences without being invasive. Way to go.
It wouldn't be possible to film like that without dollies! Perhaps it's unfortunate that you can see a few fools wearing masks. I don't want to watch that.
Maybe they were asked to? Neither Nick nor Wallace are spring chickens anymore, and people in the film industry tend to be younger, and also tend to see a lot of different people. That that is your takeaway is rather sad tbh.
