Ensure that you have all necessary permits before partaking in any works (including on private land). When tapping into a water source, it can affect the entire watershed. Make sure all licenses (Water Sustainability Approvals & Licenses, Soil Deposit & Removal Permits, etc.) are acquired before starting wetland restoration projects. Check with your local municipality, provincial governments, and other regulatory boards to ensure you are in compliance with all requirements.
If you are in British Columbia, use the Call Before You Dig: 1-800-474-6886 to locate any underground infrastructure to prevent infrastructure damage that results in unnecessary service interruptions, environmental incidents, and repair costs.
