Nice to see this kind of modern "power synth" focused on FM and that FM8 style workflow. I got FM8 a while back for $10 but never really got much use out of it.
Very interesting synth! I also participated in the creation of presets for it as Citybox and I will tell you that if the developer continues to take into account the opinions of different producers, then this synth will be even cooler. It’s a pity that you didn’t say in the video that the main feature of this synthesizer is the ability to add several instances of effects and not just one effect, as in old synths, which simplifies our life as much as possible☝️😎. I’ll also note a very good allpass filter, which is similar to a disperser and which, again, can be opened more than once in the chain of effects and also after each operator 🔥🔥🔥.
You told us about Ghost over a year ago I think on the Discord and I was thinking about it recently. I'm so happy they changed the GUI !!! Grabbing the trial now and will join you all in the chat later.
What a nice and high quality review for a very nice upgrowing synth....a little thing to ghost, you can stack the warping modes (asym, bend and so on) but not the harmonic filters (shift, LP, HP). STE is STEREO-Offset it does something but not on all parameters...i dont have a clou how work with it but it does something lol*
The STE control (you mentioned you don't know what it is) looks like some type of Stereo modulation setting. I found it by click/dragging it over to the UI. Is there a manual for the demo? I couldn't find one.
@@LawrenceAaronLuther There isn't anything like that. But honestly, many synths don’t have it (Vital, Current, Ableton Wavetable, etc.), and I don’t really miss it. Most synths do a great job of transforming samples into wavetables. If not, you can still use Serum for that and just export the wavetables to Ghost. However, I doubt I’d do this very often since the internet is filled with great free wavetable packs.
Niiiiceeeee!!! FM8 really lacked the ability to flexibly change the wave. And the LFO and other effects were weaker than on modern synths. But the matrix of operators is just an ingenious feature, which was very lacking in the new synths!
Cool synth, quite pricey tho. Did Exacoustics give you the copy you're using for the demo or sponsor this vid in anyway? Transparency in reviews is important. Cheers

You don't have to buy it obviously. It is not a payed ad, I love this synth, and I know afew guys who feel Ghost easier to program against PP that is a great but huge synth. The other advantage is the FM8 style matrix. Lots of people loved FM8 and NI never upgraded the it, so these people find this synth a treat (also it sounds as strong as PP and fun to program as FM8). So yeh, you might feel that it is not worth the price, but these tools are mainly more about the inspiration and this synth brings it with the improved FM8 layout. @@nihilxstmusic You're thinking how Phase Plant lets you utilize real FM vs Phase Modulation. You can do linear and exponential FM in Phase Plant, along with phase modulation (this is what all other "FM" synths do).
@@jackryan3429 Just to emphesize what you're saying: pretty much ALL software synths actually us PM (Phase Modulation) and NOT **actual** FM (Frequency Modulation) that analog synths use. @@onaucc9899 Phase Plant and Pigments allow you to do FM or PM. I own too many , and out of all the one's I own, I think Phase Plant is the best value with how modular it is. I pretty much stopped using Serum, Vital, Massive, Massive X, and FM8 and go to Phase Plant a majority of the time. I think I got the same deal.
I've gotten a bunch of great sounds of it but I also think it's pretty clunky to set and adjust envelopes.

the best demo so far ! thnx makes the sort sounds you would hope for nice cutting sounds yeah shame half the vid is missing

I do have two questions:
1. How easy is it to use the envelopes and modulators to control the FM amount?
2. How do unison and FM work together?

is there a wavetable editor and harmonic partial editor like Serum/Operator?
