My grandpa was Pap from the moment I could utter the word, and he was the greatest. He was a big kid. Loved to take me to the park (and ride on those spinny disks they had back in the day), he'd walk me to the local corner store to get candy (though everyone knew I was just his excuse to fuel his own twizzler addiction lol), and when our family would go to the mall he'd never say no when I'd drag him off to those quarter rides, like the ponies and cars and stuff. I miss him so much.

I never knew my grandfathers. Both passed in the 50s. I did have a great uncle who would take me to his bookie's when I was a baby. Evidently all those old guys spoiled me. When he passed I was still a toddler. At the wake, I must have thought he was asleep because I tried to crawl into the casket and snuggle with him.

Lol, I can't believe how accurate the granddad part was for my own granddad.

My grandpa is a PawPaw, his way of welcoming my adopted sister into the family was by building her a hand carved chest that could lay at the foot of her bed. One of her first presents and one of her first pieces of furniture she could call hers. His actions spoke louder than any words could have. He always built something for every grandchild whether toy chest, tool box, etc
