- This is one of my absolute Jarrett favorites. It is coming from the "Radiance" CD, which provides at least 4 tunes made for eternity - Part 3, 6, 13 & 16.
Part 16 is done already (here on my channel), Parts 3 and 6 will come in the future.
Keyboard played in this video: KAWAI VPC1

It's always a great day when there's a new video from Uwe!
What an impressive and tasteful work as always! Thank you Uwe!
Thank you very much, Pierre - much appreciated! Good to hear from you again - are you still in Asia?
Stunning rendition, Uwe. What a gorgeous piece and you play it so lovingly. Thank you for sharing and making my day brighter!
Thank you very much, Corte - really appreciated 🙏🏻🎹
New video by uwe karcher,I wait so patiently for these
Thank you Uwe. What a joy to listen to your playing! I hope you are enjoying your new environment.
Absolutely, Marcus - it is such a great place to live! Thanks for watching 😊
Wunderbar 👍😀
Your distinctive and precise style of playing sure fits Jarret's music perfectly well. Jarret is not an easy artist to cover; his crystal clear and at the same time subtle style, often with a touch of melancholy, can easily loose its character and spirit if interpreted/performed by an unskilled artist. But you definitely do him justice in this beautiful piece! Looking forward to parts 3 and 6👍
Thank you very much, my friend! You made my evening 😊
Hallo Uwe, tolle Interpretation- das Ivory-Piano klingt großartig. LG, Detlef
Wonderful. Thank you Uwe.
Thank you, as always, for stunningly beautiful music. You are truly a master Jarrett interpreter!
Beautiful New Equipment - If I was aware of this wonderful Kawai VPC1 and Synthology Ivory 3 previously, I would have chosen it. I have limited space. Although, I at least own a Hybrid Kawai Piano. The multiple choices of grand piano patches are pretty sweet - FYI, I recently watched RUclips Rick Beato interview w/ Keith Jarrett (after his 2 strokes and left hand impairment and at his house in Allentown, Pa. U.S. If you haven't seen this, I'm pretty sure you would be interested. Rick Beato plays a past live, improvised performance that was a seemingly impossible raping of the keys - I never realized he was so inhumanly capable of genius playing 😮
Thank you, Joe! I saw Rick Beato's video and found it very interesting 👍🏻
So soothing, so enchanting・・・
Great job Uwe! as always.. it would be nice to hear you with the sound of a steinway
Hi Uwe, like your Jarrett cover, as always very much! 👏Very beautiful sound from your new instrument with the Ivory 3 sound! 🎼 I admire you for your decision to go on the road 🌏 At the moment I can't for private reasons, but I got the strong wish to go on the road as well 😆
Thank you, Eckurt! Concerning the road life, I'm sure your time will come 👍🏻
Beautiful🎹
Hello Uwe, thanks for this new wonderful piece, I've been surprised by the dissonant chords at 1'14 but that's from Keith the master..:).
Yes, Eric - and if you listen to them frequently you definitely will start loving them 😁
great Playing ...
Helmut here from Vermont/Schwarzwald. Always a special day when Uwe posts. Beautiful Keith Jarrett tune, what a gift!
Bin sehr zufrieden damit 👍🏻
Great transcription as usual, although I'm a bit surprised that you don't consider Part 8 to be up to par with the other tracks you mentioned.
Such rankings are always subjective, of course - Part 8 is a runner up in my list (together with Part 15) 😉
hello uwe how are you????? Fabulous as always. extraordinary beautiful. What happened to the yamaha piano????? did you switch to vsti? which one are you using?
Gracias, Juan! I'm just fine here in Bavaria. I sold my YAMAHA piano before moving to South Germany. Since I plan to hit the road the years to come I sold it and bought a keyboard I can take with me. My software is Synthogy's Ivory 3 - very cool!
@@ukaykeys Excellent
@@ukaykeys hi Uwe thanks for answering. Always so kind. the sound is great. Ivory is the best I have number 1. Now, my question is something very fundamental. What do you think of the Kawai VPc1 compared to the Yamaha acoustic? As for the dynamics and weight and response of the keys? thank you
I´m playing a YAMAHA GA1 acoustic piano. I prefer a brilliant piano sound and asked the tuner to intonate my piano that way. So a piano sound is not so much a matter of size than a matter of intonation. I have searched very long to solve the problem of too much reverb in my records. The solution is to keep the piano lid closed with the mic inside fixed with tape under the lid (I use the Applied Microphone Technology M40, which is very good - Herbie Hancock is using it, too :-). The rest is traditional sound engineering (i should mention that I studied sound engineer before I studied classical piano; my studio equipment is pretty good meanwhile :-). The reverb is from Logic Pro X „Goldverb“. I also used the Logic Compressor & Exciter.
Please be aware: the most important thing of your record will be the natural sound of your piano. If your piano sounds different to mine (which is almost for sure), your recording will sound different.
You will also have to try different mic positions. Each position will sound different.
Here is more info about the mic:

AMT M40
The AMT M40 is Applied Microphone Technology’s legendary piano microphone system. Designed, manufactured by hand, and distributed by AMT in the USA. The system is intended to set inside the piano normally between the 2nd and 3rd sound holes on the cast iron plate of a grand and fastened to the front bottom door of an upright piano.
The M40 achieves the most natural sound possible out of a microphone. Mono in design, the system can be used with a flat EQ setting allowing plenty of gain before feedback all while maintaining the pure and natural sound that each different piano has. Applied Microphone Technology designs microphone specific for each instrument and does not adapt one microphone for many instruments.
The M40 comes with the AP40 aluminum pre-amp and integrated circuit technology, which can be powered by phantom power or 9 volt battery and includes a hard shell case. The M40 has been designed for piano but works equally well in other applications such as boundary layer micing (conference, stage).
The system allows the microphone to be used with the piano lid closed. Cumbersome microphone stands not needed, as the system is very compact with many possible placements. The M40 is the only system on the market that will allow a close-lid application successfully. It is capable of picking up subtle passages as well as sound pressure levels up to 141dB.
The M40’s rugged construction of anodized aviation aluminum allows it to withstand high impact while being lightweight and non-corrosive. The signal from the AP40 or AP41 preamp can be split with frequencies rolled off in a specific way to create a stereo image. Please see the AMT B811’s or the AMT 404’s for a true stereo or three-microphone option for piano.
Beautiful. Of the 4 tunes you list in the description which is the most technically accessible for the armature pianist?
Yes, it is probably Part 6 😉
Der schöne Flügel fehlt 😢
Yep!
@@ukaykeys
@@horstberndfiedler7734 Hi Max, leider passt kein Flügel in einen Camper. Daher muss es ein Digitalpiano sein 😉
😢 , übrigens ein sehr schönes Foto!
C’est quoi ce piano ? Ce son ? 🫤
you can find the answer above in the video description 😉
