I replaced my Montero's thermostat today after watching your instructional video on how to do it. Everything went well and I didn't encounter any problems, thanks to your thorough example. There are a few things I would like to add though. By removing the bolt holding the bracket for the wiring harness on the left side of the thermostat and the bolt on the right holding the power steering pump, you'll have unrestrained access to the 3 thermostat bolts, allowing the use of a ratchet wrench and 12-mm. socket on each bolt. Hope this helps others who would like to try their hand at this.
@NoahsGarage Ok, then it's probably different depending on your region. Because my father has one as well and it has blue coolant. At the workshop, that's what we use for those models.
I placed the thermostat in the same position as the stock. Others use to put a small hole at the upper part to release pressure inside the engine block. But I dont suggest that. Dont forget to subscribe 🙂
Mine went overheat after i remap the car last time. Then add some silicone oil in the fan clutch.. Still happen. Changed the thermostat, all solved. Drive like a charms now.

Sir yung sa amin napupunta sa reservoir ang coolant. Pero kapag lumamig na, di naman bumabalik sa radiator. Isasalin ko na naman pabalik sa radiator yung galing reservoir. So paulit ulit lang ganun ginagawa ko. Ano kaya problema. Bago na rin radiator cap. No overheat naman nangyayari

Hello sir Jusr fill the engine block with coolant sir hanggang sa top ng hose. That lessens the air po. Wala naman pong air pocket nang paandarin ko ang sasakyan. Your radiator will suck coolant from your reservoir. You may also open your radiator cap sir to bleed the system of air. I eventually did this after a few days po. But I believe di na po necessary. Sir Noah, I’m currently having the same issue with my Gen 2 montero, nag ooverheat dn po at yung aux fan malakas parin ikot kahit patayin ko na yung aircon. The mechanic suggested na mag linis ng radiator, silicon oil and thermostat dn. Around 6k all in all mababayaran ko. What are your thoughts about this. Thank you so much
Kelan siya nag ooverheat sir? Kung umiinit while speeding, malamang radiator yan sir. Kung umiinit kapag idle, malamang aux fan or thermostat. Lilinisin lang daw sir? @@NoahsGarage sir noah good day. Pina linis ko na radiator, pinalitan ko narin ng thermostat at bagong aux fan. Sa ngayon po is nag ooverheat siya kapag naka ON yung aircon. Mahina rin ang buga ng hangin ng aircon ko. Ano po kaya possible dahilan bt nag ooverheat parin. Pero pag naka off naman aircon okay lang yung temp. Kapag naka aircon lang talaga siya nag ooverheat. Nag lagay narin ako ng silicon para sa rad fan.

@@zaldyroxas4748 hello sir Zaldy Nagpalit po ako ng coolant last year, from stock to aftermarket brand. Ang dahilan po kasi ay empty na ang reservoir tank, but walang overheating issues. Then nung time na ginawa ko yung coolant video ko po, wherein ginamit ko po ay Top1 brand, hinaluan ko po ng tubig as suggested by the seller. Yun po pala, premix na po yung brand. Me pin comment po ako sa video na iyon. After siguro a month, pumunta ako ng Tagaytay, nagoverheat po siya (di naman umusok ang engine, mataas lang po ang gauge) at nawala ang lamig ng AC. Pero hindi ito ang first time na nawala ang lamig ng AC at overheat, nangyari na po iyan ng dalhin ko sa casa ung sasakyan. Mababsa niyo po history sa community tab ng channel ko sir, mga posts ko po yun, documented lahat. Dahil nag overheat sa Tagaytay, good thing naiuwi ko pa po ng Manila. Then my mechanic suggest to refill silicon oil sa fan clutch. Kaya po me fan clutch oil refill video rin po ako. Then months pass by akala ko po ok na ang lahat. Pero last three weeks tumaas na naman ang gauge. Kaya chineck ko po ang coolant temp sensor kung palyado na po. Sa video ko, natest po natin na wala namang problema sa sensor. Yung thermostat ko was stuck open for days so pagka-on ng Engine eh naka-on agad ang radiator fans. Hindi sya critical pag stuck open. Problema kung stuck closed. Mamamatay na lang engine lalo kung maraming nakaplug na device. Obvious na sa akin na thermostat yung problem. Mahirap kasi dito sa nabili kong sasakyan nagtipid masyado yung owner na tipong kahit tama na gas hindi ginamit. Ang gagawin ko eh bibili na ako new coolant and thermostat. Tatanggalin ko na bukas. Magcoolant flush na rin ako malamang.
One symptom po na sira ang thermostat ay matagal uminit ang makina (upon start up) kasi open ang thermostat. In contrast, kung madaling magoverheat ang makina, sira na rin ang thermostat (permanently closed ang thermostat)

Maaga nag loko yong Montero mo Noah's@26K km plang,sa aking GLS-V 2014 rin @ 65K km.pero hindi nangyari sa sasakyan ko.iba na kc pag nag overheat ang engine dami na apektuhan such as O-Rings in cooling system.So far kapalit ko lang ng silicone oil sa clutch fan,nilinis ko ang loob and totally renewed all silicone and used new 6pcs.silicone oil@75/pc.Balik na ako sa abroad kaya ayaw ko mangyari sa monty ko pag wala ako sa pinas.Ok na lahat nag DIY ako linis ng sumusunod EGR,Intake Manifold, Evaporator of Rear Aircond.Changed silicone Oil to Clutch fan,Changed Carbon brush to Auxiliary fan.Changed all brake pads with original bendix.Renewed Atf and filter,Differential assembly renewed oil also power steering oil.Coolant drained and changed with new coolant prestone.Congrats to your channel turning 11K na,more power to you,Stay safe 🙏 always.

Either water and coolant mix or premix is good po. Start by flushing your cooling system, malamang na maraming kalawang po iyan.

Nagpalit po ako ng coolant last year, from stock to aftermarket brand. Ang dahilan po kasi ay empty na ang reservoir tank, but walang overheating issues. Then nung time na ginawa ko yung coolant video ko po, wherein ginamit ko po ay Top1 brand, hinaluan ko po ng tubig as suggested by the seller. Yun po pala, premix na po yung brand. Me pin comment po ako sa video na iyon. After siguro a month, pumunta ako ng Tagaytay, nagoverheat po siya (di naman umusok ang engine, mataas lang po ang gauge) at nawala ang lamig ng AC. Pero hindi ito ang first time na nawala ang lamig ng AC at overheat, nangyari na po iyan ng dalhin ko sa casa ung sasakyan. Mababsa niyo po history sa community tab ng channel ko sir, mga posts ko po yun, documented lahat.
Dahil nag overheat sa Tagaytay, good thing naiuwi ko pa po ng Manila. Then my mechanic suggest to refill silicon oil sa fan clutch. Kaya po me fan clutch oil refill video rin po ako. Then months pass by akala ko po ok na ang lahat. Pero last three weeks tumaas na naman ang gauge. Kaya chineck ko po ang coolant temp sensor kung palyado na po. Sa video ko, natest po natin na wala namang problema sa sensor. Kaya next step is the thermostat na po. Kaya po ako nagpalit ng thermostat sir.

Yes sir. Once na tumaas ng konti sa gitna, off niyo po AC and ioff ang engine para lumamig tapos saka po umandar hanggang sa makarating sa haws or sa mechanic shop

Yung thermostat ko was stuck open for days so pagka-on ng Engine eh naka-on agad ang radiator fans. Hindi sya critical pag stuck open. Problema kung stuck closed. Mamamatay na lang engine lalo kung maraming nakaplug na device.
Obvious na sa akin na thermostat yung problem. Mahirap kasi dito sa nabili kong sasakyan nagtipid masyado yung owner na tipong kahit tama na gas hindi ginamit.
Ang gagawin ko eh bibili na ako new coolant and thermostat. Tatanggalin ko na bukas. Magcoolant flush na rin ako malamang.

One symptom po na sira ang thermostat ay matagal uminit ang makina (upon start up) kasi open ang thermostat. In contrast, kung madaling magoverheat ang makina, sira na rin ang thermostat (permanently closed ang thermostat)

Maaga nag loko yong Montero mo Noah's@26K km plang,sa aking GLS-V 2014 rin @ 65K km.pero hindi nangyari sa sasakyan ko.iba na kc pag nag overheat ang engine dami na apektuhan such as O-Rings in cooling system.So far kapalit ko lang ng silicone oil sa clutch fan,nilinis ko ang loob and totally renewed all silicone and used new 6pcs.silicone oil@75/pc.Balik na ako sa abroad kaya ayaw ko mangyari sa monty ko pag wala ako sa pinas.Ok na lahat nag DIY ako linis ng sumusunod EGR,Intake Manifold, Evaporator of Rear Aircond.Changed silicone Oil to Clutch fan,Changed Carbon brush to Auxiliary fan.Changed all brake pads with original bendix.Renewed Atf and filter,Differential assembly renewed oil also power steering oil.Coolant drained and changed with new coolant prestone.Congrats to your channel turning 11K na,more power to you,Stay safe 🙏 always.

Sir noah gud pm. Ang problem po ng monty q ayaw po mag automatic ang ac ok nman po ang freon. Pinilhan q po ng new thermistor ksi un daw problem pero num kinabit ganun p din po . Observe q muna daw . Pero me nririnig naman po me lagitik . Pero un nga po ayaw mag automatic. Pero nd nman po ng overheat.
