The original Nintendo Switch wasn't revealed through an ad. They called it the "NX", and people speculated on it for a couple of years before they made a trailer.
The switch is only 7 years old, it was just "announced" 9 years ago. (Though only the code name and it's existence were announced).

They didn't reveal anything. All they said was that they are working on a successor. The only reason they said that is people thought they were going to announce it during the Nintendo direct that's coming out in June. All they did was clear that up
That's what I was saying, if someone didn't know that the switch successor was in the works by now then they were living under a rock. They literally said the same thing in the description of the direct too.

Yeah, I honestly don't even really consider it a reveal either. Anyone who was paying attention knew the switch successor was coming. This was just to make people aware it wouldn't be announced during the direct so they don't have an excuse to get upset. They said the same thing in the description of the direct.
The fact it's been 7 years makes me feel really old.

Fiscal year means April 1st 2024 to March 31st 2025, so there is a chance the successor will not be announced this year
And the reason Danno mentioned 9 years despite the Switch releasing in 2017 is because the Switch was announced back in 2015

The switch was announced in the same way, first confirmed by social media, then some years later a trailer revealing how was the console.

I searched the switch’s release and here’s what I got:
March 2017
The Nintendo Switch did not arrive for two years after the March 2015 announcement mentioned in the statement from Shuntaro Furukawa. It was first released in March 2017, then followed by a “Lite” version in 2019 and a model with an OLED screen in 2021
Edit: Yes it was announced nine years ago but from a release standpoint, it’s 7 years old

This Was just an acknowledgement of The Switch 2. Not a Reveal. Just Like How the First Switch was acknowledged in 2015 but the Reveal came out in 2016. The Switch 2's reveal will come out During this fiscal Year. It won't be released. Please Take more Time to Do research Next time.

@coolbone6177 no biggie, just as long as the games are. Preferably they pull a 3ds and making the switch 2 take switch games, but switch 2 games have a peg so you can't use them on the original switch
The problem is game data is stored on the system not the cartridge(including dlc) so even if it was backwards compatible you would have to restart and possibly rebuy everything
There are many things that might happen
1. That’s the code name for the switch 2
2. It’s a marketing plot
3. They are using this tweet to gage how much people like the name

I hope it isnt called anything like the "Switch 2", because that would be another WiiU situation.
Remember, they said announcement, not "we will release in fiscal year" so when it gets to 2025, dont get your hopes high

Let me get this straight...
Nintendo on their financial twitter account confirms the existence of the Switch successor and that it will be formally revealed within the fiscal year. This is usually the case with Nintendo hardware that we get confirmation of the existence of upcoming hardware. It happened with the first Switch when it was given the NX codename.
