Your video and advice is spot on, road cyclist here with plantar faciatis just healing. My foot doctor showed me the same fit techniques, I just got some new Fizik wide with Giro insoles on order. I think 6 years of using speed play caused my outside foot problems. I’m going to take your advice and purchase shimano pedals, thanks for your great advice!✌🏼. By the way, from the US, my wife and I Just spent 10 days in your beautiful City, Edinburgh, enjoyed every moment, cheers!
This is a very useful video. Im actually having outside foot sore with my Shimano RX8 shoe. I always feel that im always pushing down with the outside of my right foot.
Hi, very nice tips on solving that problem :D Can you make a video on how to convert the current shoes' cleat position of for example SPD pedals (MTB) to Look pedals system with a new shoes? Thanks a lot for your contents :D
Dougie, Thanks for that, think you’ve addressed one of my biggest problems. When I walk I always wear away the outside of my soles and heels. On long rides, 50 miles plus, this always results in pain/cramp on the ball of my foot towards the end of the ride. Should I look to add a better insole to correct this?
Are your hips stuck in external rotation? Try widening out the stance and opening g up your hips - yes foot correction is necessary I would argue at all times and once you have got it focus on pushing into your whole foot
Notice pain in the outside of my foot especially with sweetspot or higher effort type rides. Typically only the right foot which I believe has an anatomic long leg
261mm when standing - add on 7mm takes you to 42.5 I definitely feel that 42 wouldn’t work - I like my shoes to be close but definitely not too small either
What about foot pain on the bottom mid section of my feet? I have superfeet insoles in already, but I get pain with the superfeet and the original Lake insoles as well.

@@dougieshawbikefitter Thanks for that, will give it a go.
At Pedals in #3, SQ Labs are worth the mention I think.

Have you tried foot correction?
How long is your longest foot in cm?

@@dougieshawbikefitter I second this. As 254 I add 7/8 mm instead of 5 to wear 41.5 not 41 and I like the 41.5s much more.

How does it come on? Is there excess volume in your shoe otherwise?
