I am working on a video of 80s players of Roland guitars. The list is extensive, this gear was everywhere for a few short years. Roland really cornered the market.
Thank you so much, I've been looking for this forever !!! You really made my day ! It is magical to see you recreate that sound before our eyes. One question since I'm a total synth newbie: to get the rythm sound once the song starts, I just need to press the Hold button and run the output through some kind of gated tremolo ? Thanks for your help !
Wayne is there any way that you can do a RUclips post playing the sound from the start of the song about 1 minute in but without any other background music..... so I can capture it and use it on my sequence because my band is doing this song Thank you
thank you Sir, a much needed tutorial, i ve been following your website since the first days and there were some nice mp3 demos in MKS-30 section, One of them was called MKS30-Dark.mp3 , starting with slow sequenced line, but that electrified swell pad was main reason why I was obsessed with MKS30 and bought one, do you maybe still have that old mp3? would be amazing to recreate that pad, or maybe post some info if its factory preset? Cheers
Wow! I tracked down the MKS-30 demos and added them to my GR-700 page, look for MKS-30 samples. I do not recall doing any MKS-30 programming, it must have been a factory patch.
@@WayneJoness yes, those 3 are the ones! jx3p/mks30 architecture seems to have the most futuristic sound, just heard that Dark demo, it was instant nostalgia overload!, Brings up old memories, I had that Dark.mp3 listening on my playlist during highschool, in my ipod and phone for years and lost it long time ago, Thank you! btw Ive bought gr700 without controller, but have gk3, do you recommend cheapest way to trigger gr700 is just buying GK1 with cable?
Thanks Wayne. Been waiting for this video for years. 😊 Any secret to the midi direct option on the Roland? I’ve looked for something similar on my Roland GR55 but don’t see it as a patch as shown by the SY1000. I have all the other required hardware to allow the guitar to trigger this patch.
On the GR-55 you need to go to SYSTEM, highlight MIDI/USB and use the PAGE buttons to display the GTR-MIDI tab, use the cursor to highlights SWITCH and turn the dial clockwise to ON to enable MIDI out on the GR-55.
First off thank you for this awesome video. I was wondering at the end of the guitar solo there’s the machine gun effect. I think it’s a tremolo, but not sure. Is the effect from the Roland synth?
Hey, I am new to synths. I bought a Korg Prologue 16. Is it possible to get that sound from my Korg? If so, can anyone help me to set that Sound on my Korg just like shown in that great video?
@@WayneJoness it has two oscillators that can be synced what is missing out of curiosity? I haven’t had time to experiment with it since watching your video. I want to thank you for making it. I’m likely one of the many who emailed you. Roland owes you some commissions because I will likely buy a JX-03.
this was a ground breaking guitar synth album when it came out and even more influential because was really the first synth-guitar in metal.
love Priest and the Turbo album
This IS a great sound
you should do a video on differesnt famous players of Roland gear especially Modded instruments and non Roland guitars with the Roland pickups added.

@@WayneJoness very cool
Nice, had to go program that sound on my Roland MKS80 Super Jupiter today after listning to this.
Cool!
Next upload video. Morbid Angel Chaper Of Ghouls Trey Azagthoth tutorial Guitar Solo

Sorry I did not go into detail on that, to get the rhythm I used a tremolo
@@WayneJoness thank you very much
You could use a gate side chained to a drum track that is playing with the tempo
I don’t know much about synths, but would it be possible to get the Turbo sound from something like the Boss SY-300…or even the SY-200??…..
You might be able to approximate something, but nothing will come as close as the JX-03.

I will see what I can do!
Nice, real nice!

I believe those were all factory, I will put those demos up on youtube, thanks!
great info. thanx.
Glad that was helpful!

Sounds like rotary-speaker -effect

I am not that familiar with the Prologue 16. For me the key feature is to invert the envelope polarity. Not all synths can do that.
play the song for us!
Can you do this on the Zenology J8XP? They don’t seem to have a JX3P yet.
I think you could come close, the key is being able to cross synth the oscillators, that really makes the sound
Is this possible on the SY-1000?
No, the SY-1000 is entirely different.

Is there a synth pedal other than the gr700 that has something similar in a default setting???
I am afraid I do not know of another synth pedal that has something similar.
I have a midi controller and can I do the same? The equipment is the Roland PK5A. It's possible?
Yes, that will work fine!
