Saddest moment on young talent I remember when I was a teenager watching Danni Minogue she was a pretty young lady The look on the team members faces said it all it made me cry all those years ago watching her on her last show
I cried for a week when Dannii left! Always so sad when one of the team members had to leave. The little piece of her doing The Good Ship Lollipop wasn't actually her first appearance as a team member. She joined at 10 in 1982. This was on her 8th birthday in 1979, when she appeared as a contestant on the talent discovery segment of the show :o)
@annach7914 I think it was because on her very first appearance a team member she performed a duet with Mark McCormack, who joined on the same night - so there wasn't footage of her solo. Made sense 🙂 - but we weren't supposed to know that 🤣
@oneslifesadream That performance of "Good Ship Lollipop" was indeed Danni's first appearance as she was a New Talent contestant at that time, and would've been 8 or 9 years old, billed as Danielle Minogue.

Dannii Minogue (born 20 October 1971)[2] is an Australian singer, dancer, songwriter, model, fashion designer, television presenter and actress. Dannii rose to prominence in the early 1980s for her roles in the Australian television talent show Young Talent Time and the soap opera Home and Away, before beginning her career as a pop singer in the early 1990s.[3] Minogue achieved early success with hits such as "Love and Kisses", "This is It", "Jump to the Beat" and "Baby Love", though by the release of her second album, her popularity as a singer had declined, leading her to make a name for herself with award-winning performances in musicals with Grease and also in Notre Dame De Paris, as well as other acting credits in The Vagina Monologues and as Lady Macbeth. The late 1990s saw a brief return to music after Minogue reinvented herself as a dance artist with "All I Wanna Do", her first number one UK Club hit.[4] In 2001, Minogue released her biggest worldwide hit, "Who Do You Love Now?", while her subsequent album, Neon Nights, became the most successful of her career. In the UK, she has achieved 13 consecutive number one dance singles, becoming the best-performing artist on the UK Dance Chart. Since 2007, Minogue has established herself as a talent show judge and television personality. As a singer Minogue has had a total of nine UK Top 10 singles,[5] twelve Top 30 singles in Australia,[5] thirteen Number 1 UK club Number 1 singles,[6] 7 million records sold worldwide and six Gold certified singles in Australia. She judged on Australia's Got Talent in Australia from 2007 until her departure in 2012, and until 2010, she also judged The X Factor UK, where she was the winning mentor in both 2007 and 2010 with Leon Jackson and Matt Cardle, respectively. In 2010, Minogue launched her own fashion label Project D London with her best friend Tabitha Somerset Webb. On 9 November 2011, she received an honorary doctorate degree in Media and Arts from Southampton Solent University for her 30-year varied career in the showbiz and media industry. In 2013, Minogue became a judge for the ninth series of Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model,[7] and on The X Factor Australia, where she was the winning mentor that same year with Dami Im. In 2017, Minogue took on the role as judge on the new BBC show, Let It Shine. Dannii Minogue was brought up in Surrey Hills, Melbourne and attended Camberwell Primary School and later Camberwell High School. She is the younger daughter of accountant Ronald Charles Allan Minogue, and Carol Jones, a dancer from the United Kingdom (Maesteg, Wales).[8] She is the youngest of three children, born between 1968 and 1971; oldest sibling Kylie Minogue is also a pop singer, while brother Brendan is a news cameraman in Australia. Minogue began her career as a child on Australian television. From the age of 7, she appeared in several soap operas, including Skyways and The Sullivans. In 1982, she joined the weekly music programme Young Talent Time.[3] Minogue recorded her first solo recordings for the programme, including a cover version of Madonna's hit single "Material Girl"; during this time, she also performed live at several sold-out nationwide concert tours.[3][10] In 1988, Minogue departed from Young Talent Time to continue her acting career, appearing as the rebellious tomboyish teenager Emma Jackson on the soap opera Home and Away in 1989. Minogue remained on the programme for only a year. She proved to be popular among Australian audiences when she was nominated for a Silver Logie as the Most Popular Actress on Australian television.[10] In September 1988, Minogue released her own fashion range, Dannii. She became interested in fashion design while appearing on Young Talent Time. Minogue had designed the clothing she had worn on the show, and the positive response from the audience resulted in her releasing her own line.[11] Minogue's debut line Dannii sold out across Australia in ten days, and was followed by three additional summer lines in 1989.

Never understood why she chose cryo by kids in the kitchen as her last song. The other kids chose so much better. John young chose the Frank Sinatra song and even that wasn't quite right either.
after that she then got her next role on Home and Away as the rebellious Emma Jackson and she totally be lookin like her character Emma on this show when she left 🤙🏽✨
She was just a kiddie, after all. Very rarely do you get 8-year-olds who can sing in tune. One rare example was Sally Boyden. At age 8, she could run rings around a lot of adult performers. Sally's performance of the Gilbert O'Sullivan song, "Nothing Rhymed" during her first year on YTT was pure platinum. She should've got a standing ovation from the audience, I hope she did! In Johnny Young's shoes, I'd have whisked her off to the TCS studios to get the performance on record, with perhaps the Mike Nesmith composition, "Different Drum"(first recorded by Linda Ronstadt & Stone Poneys) on the B-side. It would've been, as the late Darryl Eastlake would've said... "HHHHHUUUUUGGGGGEEEEE!"
She did the hackneyed old Shirley Temple song, "Good Ship Lollipop"(groan!), but, as Paul Kelly once sang, "From little things, big things grow", and grow, Dannii did! Dannii's voice matured as she grew but the same CANNOT be said of her sister, Kylie, who, even in her 40s, still sounded like a 12-year-old or younger.
I’ve been a fan since 1982 and I agree these two send off songs were shockers. She never had the best voice but as a team member John said she had the best work ethic out of ANY of the kids. Sometimes she pulls off a song and I think wow and other times (like this example) she sings woefully.
My Fav. If there were two ways about it. To anyone who is brave enough. Have manners. Amazing. Skate way mount Gravatt. So those who got a kiss. Lucky you. Why is she so cute. Me always & forever. Meaningful snacks. You are more than everything. You made me happy. Wow I never took anyone or their shit. God blessed us. Why. You know.
Dannii Minogue had the stronger, more mature voice of the two sisters. Kylie, even now in 2017 still sounds like a 12-year-old.But apart from this, YTT itself could've still been on air today if only they had NOT brought in those silly animal characters and puppets, and instead, continued to place the emphasis where it rightly belonged, on the patently-obvious talent these kids had. I blame a certain hamburger chain based in America for their influence on YTT, which heavily contributed to the axing of the show at the end of 1988.
I have the DVD of YTT Tells All. In the profiles section, on some of the former members, there's a bit of interview that wasn't included in the show itself. In one of these clips, Rod Kirkham(of the original 6-member team, later expanded to 8 members) laments the emphasis swinging from the talent angle to the "cute" angle. He said he became embarrassed to watch the show toward the end. It was the animal characters and puppets included in the show influenced by the sponsor, a certain hamburger chain. They weren't needed. It was the kids themselves that should've been allowed to carry the show with their clearly obvious talent but the "cute kid" angle pushed a lot of the would-be audience away(teens of the same age as the team members were the main audience in the early days, by the end it was mainly tots with their parents as chaperones). That's what gave Hey, Hey It's Saturday on Station GTV-Melbourne and Station TCN-Sydney the edge. If they ditched the animal characters and puppets, and moved the show to Sundays(they'd only be up against the trashy tabloid 60 Minutes) They'd have revived their fortunes and, instead of being a revival, the 2012 reboot would've instead been a continuation of a long line of talented kids going back to the first 6 in 1971.

Tina's judging partner could've been Jamie or Derek Redfern, or both, and show host, John Bowles, and YTT Mk.2 should've stayed on Sunday Nights at 7.30PM, not sabotaged by shifting to Friday nights.

I agree, I've always said that Kylie is pretty but Dannii is stunning! Especially now she has stopped plastic surgery. I always think its difficult for the younger sibling to be recognised as much, bit like Baldwyns, Hemsworths, Simpson sisters, etc etc. Kylie is without a doubt an Entertainer and had the SAW machine to catapult her career, Dannii didn't have that plus she married a total knob years ago which did not help. Love them both though. 😊
Why do we need to fight about them at all? Both are lovely in their own way. Kylie has made a name for herself as a pop singer, and Dannii has made a name for herself in TV. Why do people try to pit them against each other? Especially when the sisters are actually each other's biggest supporters. (agree though about Dannii's first husband being a complete knob - and his snobby mother as well.)
@@chooseyourpoison5105 And like all pop-stars, they both have some songs that are better than others. @@alexanderilic42 Wasn't she ever! She didn't think Dannii was good enough for her son, which was laughable in light of the fact that Lady Sonia's own background was far from illustrious. My mum once remarked that folk "fancy anything that's put on their screens for long enough...Probably if the Hunchback of Notre Dame was on TV a lot, they'd all be in love with him."
@@alexanderilic42 I do love one of Kylie's songs: the 1991 hit What Do I Have to Do?
Why do we need to fight about them at all? Both are lovely in their own way. Kylie has made a name for herself as a pop singer, and Dannii has made a name for herself in TV. Why do people try to pit them against each other? Especially when the sisters are actually each other's biggest supporters. (agree though about Dannii's first husband being a complete knob - and his snobby mother as well.)
@@chooseyourpoison5105 And like all pop-stars, they both have some songs that are better than others. But people make such a fuss of Kylie, physically, and I don't think she's as pretty as her sister OR the other girls seen in the audience, in this video. (She's better-looking than the people I hated at school, though.)
@@alexanderilic42 Wasn't she ever! She didn't think Dannii was good enough for her son, which was laughable in light of the fact that Lady Sonia's own background was far from illustrious. Nonetheless, Julian should have grown a pair, stood up for his wife and told his interfering old bat of a mother to get lost. Dannii is better off without him.
