Pfffff what a fantastic pedal board the tubescrealer abd the tone bender sounds killer I think the clone is setuo as a boost i wonder how it sounds with the tubescreamer Wowwwwww mason just nailed it fantastic as usually many thanks
That is a cool feature, but I prefer, if I'm going to do a true bypass looper, to get something that is passive and only requires power to illuminate LED's and would otherwise work. With the relay systems in those devices it's a lot of moving parts if the goal is to simplify. If the client already had a Quartermaster, I'd say use it, but if you already owned a good quality loop switcher, no need to get the Quartermaster if you only need a true bypass looper that's simple.
I don’t know, typically I just refer people who want this service, as I only build one or so system per month, and don’t offer it as a service for hire, only for tutorials here on RUclips. You can send us an email and I can refer you to somebody who will best fit your project.
Could you please explain more about how the two buffers are used?Could I get by just using my suhr buffer at the end of my signal chain instead of at the beginning?
How did you get those square plugs to fit into the RV-5? I have an RV-6 and the square plugs CAN fit but they're extremely tight and seems like it could be doing some damage...even in the same position as you have them. :/
Great build mason, always enjoy watching ur vids. Wanted to ask a question about tuner out, I use your boost and trs cable to the ext of the boss fv, but I also learnt from one of your videos that the tuner out is a tone suck. I A/B tested it and you were right, it indeed was stunting the signal. Is this not the same for all tuner outs ?
if the tuner output is buffered, then you're ok, but most guitar volume pedals are passive, so they don't have a buffer. It's is more rare, and only a few volume pedals are built like this. The Hilton is one, another I like is the Lehle.
@@VertexEffectsInc alright i will check them. Man you are the best! you always reply to all comments. i bet when you reach 1 million subs you will be the only "million" channel that still replies to people's comments. Cheers! all the best
@@VertexEffectsInc but if the IEC plug is removed or knocked out, then you've got live AC voltage on exposed pins . . . look, I'm not an electrician or rig builder, but I'd suggest exploring safer ways to make that mod.
Ben Brunskill This is explicitly what those plugs are designed for, to protect against electrocution with a hot or live circuit. It’s almost impossible to take out by hand - you need tools to remove it properly. If you find it risky, I recommend just using two IEC AC cables connected to your wall outlet.
Started with modding and repairing pedals, then got into doing more rig set up when the pedalboard craze set in during the mid-2000's. I stopped building rigs around 2014 to focus on our pedals only (vertexeffects.com), and now I'm only doing rig builds for RUclips tutorials pointed at the DIY community primarily.
Vertex Effects I have bought it thinking it is a true bypass looper but was surprised when I later learned it’s not. As a reputable brand, I guess their buffer implementation should be fine.
Hey Mason, can't believe how clean you wired up those cables, for OCD consumers like me it's like porn 😂 Do you use aluminum or steel for the base? It looks stiff despite of the light weight
Dude, you need something that focuses strictly on your board. I’ve watched two videos now and all you talk about is all the stuff that isn’t the board. Show the dang board with nothing on it.
MMCGuitar - You may or may not be aware, but every customer and dealership that ever owned an Axis Wah was provided a full refund, rebate, or exchange according to their desired restitution within 18 months - this all transpired in 2014 (over six years ago). In fact, we still leave the door open to any owner of the product that was previously unaware of refund options and keep a public record of all Axis Wah refunds on our website for anyone to view since 2014: www.vertexeffects.com/redemption . The Axis Wah is not representative of our company values and the products we make. We've worked tirelessly to make a new impression and continue to maintain a high standard of quality and customer service with transparency around each product and its origins. All we can do is release the best sounding products possible and give our customers the best possible quality and support in hopes that with time we'll earn back their trust.
@@jjschulz3472 First off, I don't own a Vertex product, nor have I - nothing in their line is for my sound, however I like these DIY videos and tutorials so that's why I'm here. Nevertheless, from what I can see, it appears that he's (Mason) has done more than any company would (more on that below) in terms of reparations those impacted from whatever it was - 5 or 10 years ago. Companies are headed by people, people will fuck up - and if you're honest with yourself, there's probably something that you've done too that you wouldn't want on the table as prior knowledge before the public doing business with you. If Mason is on your shit list for the Wah thing, then I imagine you're equally dogmatic about other companies in our orbit. Meaning, you don't use Apple products (covered up horrible working conditions in the iPhone factory leading to employee suicides), Nike (covered up child labor sweatshops making their sneakers), Volkswagen (lied about emissions), Toyota (lied about air bags), Pfizer (using customers as guinea pigs - killing them with poorly vetted drugs), and DuPont Products [all the cleaning supplies in most kitchens] (pouring toxic waste into public land, ponds, lakes). The list goes on. My guess is you've owned or still own some of the products above by those brands, do you have the same sentiment toward them? Is selling someone a Wah pedal that was marketed unethically and lied about to customers as bad as killing someone as it happened with some of these companies above? Can that even be repaired with money? When sued, these companies dragged out judgement for decades (some of them still in litigation for damages) and payed out less than 1% of their monthly earnings on average to the victims as a whole (class action divides sum of damages among the victims named). I'd argue, like him or not, that the Rig Doc did more on a relative scale than any of these companies did above, and took more accountability publicly than these companies have when I see him (or his guys) respond to comments like this. Again, I got no dog in the fight - I didn't own a Wah or a Vertex pedal, you might have - I don't know. But, it seems like the ALL OR NOTHING attitude runs out of track real fast when it starts getting applied to the brands that we find in our pockets, garage, and closets.
@@jjschulz3472 that's irrelevant to the point I made. How is this worse than the actions of CEO's and Board Members of the companies that I mentioned above that in all likelihood you and I both use on a daily basis? There are plenty of payoff, coverups, intimidation (legal and otherwise), before the whistleblowers came forward to out them. This is not unique to Mason. I'm not condoning what he did or that it was OK - it wasn't. However, by your logic it would have been better if Mason just kept the money and said nothing, no admission of wrong-doing, no refunds. Would that have been a better outcome for those that purchased the pedal or harmed by his behavior? No way! I own a business too, and I've made a lot of mistakes along the way, even more when I was 25 years old or whatever Mason was when the wah thing happened. I sure wouldn't want to wear a sign around my neck and be judged by all my transgressions in my mid-20's. But hey, maybe you're Jesus? Lastly, Bernie Madoff stole his investors money and didn't deliver a product - there was no product - he was selling thin air. Bernie also never admitted wrong doing or showed remorse or electively paid anyone back. Mason delivered a product. From what I can see the product was good. I heard a Pete Thorn live stream where he said this was still one of his favorite Wah's of all time. I've never tried it, but seem like users of it liked the sound. The issue is, the wah wasn't a Vertex product. He didn't make it "in house", nor was he involved with the design. Yet, he claimed he was on all accounts when confronted...at least initially before coming clean. Madoff had been doing this for decades and just spent his client's money to improve his own lifestyle and seed more investors into the scam and when caught only a small percentage was recovered that was seized by the government. Mason, by contrast, owned up to what he did and took back and refunded every Wah (he claims). I can't prove that he did refund everyone - nor can he I suppose, however I've not seen anyone on the forums that owned the product saying that Mason didn't refund them when asked. Some also say that they kept the pedal and took a credit for the difference in cash between thee BBE and Vertex wahs. Madoff seems like an entirely different case with little in common to what Mason/Vertex did.
@@jjschulz3472 That's your right, but again, my point is that you're holding him to a double standard that you're not holding yourself account to nor a number of other companies you likely use or patronize on a daily basis. You're not coming to the table with your worst moments before you do a "moral inventory" on Mason, e.g. The Pot Calling the Kettle Black - but the pot (you) is disguised behind a computer screen. 2) You, in all likelihood, like 99% of us on RUclips, are using Apple, Nike, Pfizer, Toyota, DuPont, etc. products in our daily lives - are you on their RUclips and social media pages warning all of their prospective or current customers about their wrongdoing? Is that IEC mod legal in the USA? Here in NZ that type of mod would be completely and utterly against code.
It certainly voids the warranty. However, if done properly it presents no danger.
