  • Star Gate SG1 Season 7 Episode 18. "Heroes" pt. 2
SG-1 is called into action while a film crew is documenting the Stargate program, but the S.G.C. comes under investigation after the mission goes terribly wrong.
Saul Rubinek pays Emmett, a documentary director tasked to produce a film documenting the hero's of the SGC. But the team isn't excited to host the prying journalist into their headquarters, and feel it is a security risk. Saul gives a stealer performance as he is rebuffed by the team again and again until he give a speech that makes us rethink our assessment of the character and consider our values.
Emmett says, "These people are risking their lives for us? I want to SEE what they're going through, even is they don't want us to! And I want other people to see it! What do you think they're doing up there? Protecting and defending secrecy!? That's a world of Moa, and a world of Stalin, a world of secret police, secret trials, and secret deaths. You force the press into the cold and all you will get is Lies and Innuendo! And nothing, nothing is worse for a free society then a press that is in service to the military and the politicians! Nothing! ...You think I give a damn what you think of me? You serve the people? So do I!
Today we have a press and tech companies who do not serve the American people.. They serve the special interests of one corrupt political party. They lie to our faces and cover the lies of the politicians they represent, with impunity. It must stop! "Big Tech" and Big media, allowed to operate this way, are no better then the state run media of third world nations, ruled by dictators. And they can destroy us if we let them. It is a matter of national security. A class action law suit has been filed against these businesses. This is a beginning. May it never be the end. They must not be given an inch, or they will take it all.
