I was working on the DV pad at macdill afb. A bug kept flying around us. We sprayed it with xylene. It was still flying around us the next day. Xylene kills bugs dead. This was almost 20 years ago. This isn't a drone but I've seen insect drones.

If they start to bother you just wave them away they eventually they give up the fight of being in your personal space. Typically they act curious about you for a second and fly off. Just found a drone fly that fell out of the tree on its back, unable to fly. Held it for a bit then left it on some lavender. It was really confident with me and crawled straight into my hands unlike basically every hoverfly I’ve seen.

Even for space exploration, the cheaper reusable rockets dispense the need for ultra light tiny drones to obtain images and fly around other planets. Probably looking for a small hole to fill with little leaves for their larva. I would find them in accessory bolt holes on engine cores that have been sitting outside.
I've heard of these bee drones being developed by the military a few years ago, it dropped off the map for a while but it wouldn't surprise me if they have them now!
