- This one was suggested by Carvalho Diablo right here on youtube!
As you can imagine, Dave very much enjoyed this one . . . BUT! He has questions. Fretless? Not fretless? If you know the answer, please tell us down below!
Thanks again Carvalho, great suggestion!
There is a reason why Tupac used this song as his baseline for "Who do you believe in". The song is tight!!!!!!
Bumped into JayKay outside a pub in London about 5 years ago. What a great guy. Polite and friendly. Total gentleman.
That's great to hear!
Yeah I met him once. True gent, very chatty.
Thats Stuart Zender on the bass. Id kill to hear Jay Kay the lead singer play this song with Vulfpeck or do a whole album with them.
Stuart zender is a legend
NO AUTOTUNE ❤😂😂😂
2:08 finally a logical explanation to why this band didnt penetrate more on people's musical register... its too good for the average public xD
This band is amongst my top 3 and never understood why it was not (much) more popular, their sound especially in the begginings was so crisp and clean.
It's sounds from when the music was still honest =) ❤ 10/10
I really don't want to think that the American musicians couldn't compete with the quality of music coming out of the UK. But that's exactly what it seems like!
Such a good song, that whole album is great
“A troubled trail of tears will tell the tale.” Gah. Emotions
Jamiroquai - planet home, also love dave 🙏🏾♥️
Hey there The Big Bruv! Dave's reaction to Planet Home has been posted ruclips.net/video/bMHCl8XeNsM/видео.html Thanks for the suggestion!
I think stu used two different basses here, a fretless and a fretted one on the chorus, by the way, bassline was wrote by Jay.
Not fretless here, is the Warwick Streamer Stage 1 (Stuart Zender)
That bass is so nice, was introduced to this by my A level music teacher the other day as he thought I could take inspiration from it to help me with my composition and I love it so much
Here’s a live version (sort of) the music is the same, but the lyrics are different as they were rewritten for Manifest Destiny ruclips.net/video/cfSpBF-YBmE/видео.html
2Pac sampled the music for his track ‘who do you believe in’ He became aware of Jamiroquai and this album when he was incarcerated in prison circa 1994/1995 🙌🏽
Ps google the phrase Manifest Destiny and the track will make more sense ✌🏼
Always love your, jamiroquai reactions, always top notch reviews!!
please review jamiroquai- sunny live cover whenever you get the chance
Adding it to the list! Thanks for the suggestion!
Dave's reaction to "Sunny" has been posted! You can see it here >> ruclips.net/video/pvZ_D89wARY/видео.html
Thanks again for your suggestion.
4:27-4:53 & 5:44-6:05/Jay Kay Stacattos on the bridge are heaven, amazing song specially the whole Bassline is awesome,Stuart Zender is one of my favs Bass guitarrist.
If you haven't reacted to it yet, you should definitely listen to "Corner of the Earth" in his 5th album "a funk odyssey".
I will add that one to the list! Thank you for the suggestion!
I'm really curious to see what you would think about the song Scam of of this album, It's kinda hard to categorize but It's actually the 1st track I heard of theirs and I was hooked.
I will add it to the list and we will find out what Dave thinks!
Hi Zach! Dave's Jamiroquai Scam reaction has been posted! ruclips.net/video/cR1sYPiEm80/видео.html Thanks for the suggestion =)
@@samechick awesome!
You should see the bass playing on their instrumental - Music Of The Mind. It’s the most complex jazz funk bass arrangement I’ve ever heard
I'll definitely add that one in. "Complex jazz funk bass" sounds like something Dave would absolutely be into!
@@samechick
It starts slow but picks up...oh it picks up!
Here’s the remastered version ruclips.net/video/IQb9Z5iskPc/видео.html
Thanks Dark Matter!
Dave's Music Of The Mind reaction has been posted! ruclips.net/video/r4LO0D1wkmE/видео.html Thanks for the suggestion Dark Matter, he really digs this one!
@@samechick 😝
I mean, maybe it's a fretless? But I think he's just got his tone dialed in, muted, mid-bass heavy... Zender's one of the reasons I love this band, and dove into their catalogue... Unique basslines, such fluid fills and ghosts...
Kudos, again, folks!...
And I don't have much to suggest besides the 1st 4 LPs for Jamiroquai...
'Poets of Rhythm' are good, jazzy band, as are 'Breakestra', 'Fingathing', and 'El Michels Affair'...
Shameless local plug: our hometown radio station has a jazz show Saturdays at 7pm Est on 993countyfm.ca .. I know the host, and his record collection is immaculate, and has been kept in pristine condition... He curates a new weekly show from his collection, and maybe Dave would dig it... Just a thought...
Keep up the sass! Cheers!
Thanks for listening and thanks for the Jazz show link. I'll definitely forward that to Dave because he does love his jazz!
@@samechick Cool! It's often on the 'avant garde' side, and the host is pretty knowledgeable, with neat lil' stories to segué...
And yeah, it's been 20 years since I was listening to Jamiroquai daily, so these are a nice nostalgic trip seeing you folks dig in like I once did... Thank you for that; music is medicine...
Cheers!
Ear reveal Whoo hoo!!!!
Suggestion:
The Outfield - Voices of Babylon!!!
Adding it to our list! Thank you Felipe!
Hi Felipe! This one got stuck in the dispute process for a while. ruclips.net/video/rLOD6-XozaY/видео.html Thanks for the suggestion!
Stu Zender is the base player.
Much better than Davie504. Davie is nothing but gimmicks. Stuart Zender is peerless
450 tuning on original rec
Hi Rico, Dave wants to know if it's on the whole album or just this song? And I guess he wants to know if you know why?
I dont think it is a fretless bass. I know the bass was out of tune when they recorded this.
Just relayed this to Dave and he nodded slowly and said "Interesting." He shall ponder this for the rest of the day I am certain.
I always wished this song was a love song instead of a politically charged song about slavery. Still it's a great song that I'll never skip.
You're seriously comparing Level 42 with Jamiroquai!?! That's even more disrespectful than labeling Jay Kay as 'disco'!
Well Obviously He's Not Listening to the Lyrics....
