- New research has revealed the 3000km Perth-based AFL teams have to travel to play east coast teams is costing them dearly with regular interruptions to routines and recovery, and the problem is not isolated to the AFL.

Just shows how good the Eagles premiership team really were 🏆🏆🏆🏆🦅🦅🦅🦅

As an eagles fan im not gonna disagree that it has always felt like a massive disadvantage, but also as an eagles fan id remind my fellow eagles fans that we are in the top 3 most successful teams of the afl era. So does it really matter that much?? Only team with more premierships since we joined is hawthorn, even the team with the most agregious advantage(collingwood) has less. Its part of being in perth, get over it jeez🙄
These guys play 10 games away from Perth (plus finals if they make it), to play footy for about 2 hours.
If you think its that much of a disadvantage (WCE 4 premierships) then play in the WAFL.
Well its not only that, its also flying 3000 kms to play of a six day break against opponents who are on their home deck who have had, 7,8, sometimes ten days rest. At least guarantee the WA sides at least a seven day break each week.
WAers having a hard time coming to terms with REALITY
First off to Rove, as a fellow Freo supporter and every other supporter, keep the passion rolling in 2024, were on our way.
The problem is the reason there are 10 teams in Victoria and you bet your bottom dollar 9 times out of 10 an away game when two Victorian team compete is practically a home game to them. Whether if its at Marvel, the MCG or Kardinia Park which is an hour away. While the outside teams, not so much the NSW teams, but QLD, SA and WA they have to travel every second week. What would make it fairer is for the Victoria teams to get off their backsides and start hitting road with more interstate games outside Victoria. After all this is suppose to be a national competition, this isn't the Victorian Football League anymore.
Western Bulldogs, Geelong, St Kilda , North Melbourne...there's no way they consider a game at the MCG against Collingwood a 'home' game just because it's in Melbourne.
And to make it fair you want Melbourne clubs to play home games in another state just so they are in Melbourne less?
It's never going to happen.
@@AlbieAughtie C'mon mate, honestly, their away games do they travel thousands of km's and on a plane for 4 hours every second week? I'm not saying for them to have home games in another state, but the AFL needs to make things more fair and balance. The WA teams compete in another state virtually every second week, while the Victorian teams hardly leave the state. I mean come on that's highly unfair.
@@thequartersfooty you mentioned games outside Victoria. So potentially play those non Vic clubs twice at their ground in the same season?
@@AlbieAughtie The AFL fixture every single season is tricky enough to put together. Obviously, the non-Vic teams play their derbies in their state and they play against each other twice in a season already. What the AFL could do it spread out the times the Vic teams play each other, give the interstate teams an extra home game and a better turnaround time in between trips. Just a thought.
Collingwood play at the MCG or Marvel.
Getting paid 100 thousands of $ and still find something to whinge about....wow
Just play in your local leagues, problem solved.
This from someone whose team plays up to 8 games straight at MCG or docklands, MCG was never your home ground, was swamp or kennel called Victoria Park!!
@@derekthompson2868there's nowhere in Melbourne to build more stadiums. Victoria Park was a suburban ground. The league and club outgrew suburban grounds probably 25-30 years ago.
So your beloved Pies are going to play against Coburg? Thats what will happen if you remove the eight interstate sides.
If they think it’s tough, stop whining, I am sure they won’t mind us having an extra couple of Mil in our Salary Cap and a few extra players on our list to compensate for the travel. And let’s not forget the Grand Final is played in Melbourne also. Of the last 11 Grand Finals, only 2 teams away from Melbourne have won.
Cherry pick.
2001- 2006 were all won by non Victorian clubs. Half the flags in the 90s were won by non Victorian clubs.
Non Victorian clubs in the 2010s . were represented in almost every GF.
2020s Sydney and Brisbane have already made two of four played.
Fair dinkum unbelievable Afl.no.1 😂😂❤😂😂❤😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
well i think it is time for all non victorian teams to break away from AFL and time to form our own league
Absolutely. Good luck.
Play in the state leagues.
If WA stopped stealing our GST, I'd have more sympathy.
I guess you have more sympathy then? WA gets the lowest GST share in Australia and gives twice as much to the other states vs the second worst off state...
@@Sve3t you have no idea what you're talking about, do you.
@@regfries8279 I know exactly what I am talking about. You are referring to WAs strong fiscal capacity as if it somehow entitles the other states to drain WAs GST contributions. Or perhaps you are referring to how WA has been posting the largest surpluses in the country, which have been used to ameliorate the massive overspending of the previous Liberal government and associated debt resulting in loss of credit rating. What you are really ignoring is the no worse off payment associated with the 2018 changes and really I can now use you as my example of the Dunning Kruger Effect.
When are the other states going to diversify their economy to anything other than housing lol. WA props up the entire country
Great open minded responses here.
Vics forget that they take money from us to prop up teams over there that can't find supporters. We're only asking for some fairness. 2 more home games would be a good start.
Yep, two to four would be fair, playing every third week in Melbourne I think would be a situation nobody outside Victoria would argue with.
Greetings~Yo. great ~ see ya. 🔥
It’s ok by the woke law book to poke fun at other states and supporters of rival football teams. lol - so funny.
