Lovely video. Thank you. I sailed on her many times from Liverpool to Douglas to Liverpool. There was no vibration, she just sailed thru the sea, like a true Majestic lady that she was.

An era was ended, and now there is soon no more left, of the once so proud and beautiful ship. It's sad to think about.

Last of the line of the world's most graceful ferries IMO. I was lucky enough to travel on most if not all of the post-war turbine steamers, plus Lady of Mann and Ben-My-Chree IV, though as a very small boy on some. Such a pity not one of these fine ships was preserved. Thanks for posting this vid.

Thank you for this great video. At Fleetwood in 1955 the public were invited to view this Ship, at the age of 9 I still have memories of my visit.

I went on the Manxman in about 1954 from Liverpool to Douglas and back. It really was a very rough trip so I don't think the dining room did much.

The Manxman is Another fine example of how the Manx public and the powers that be sometimes don't care enough about their heritage. The "Palace Lido" Being another. So sad boats Like this weren't saved.

I’m sure I must have travelled on this ship between Belfast and Douglas. I was on holiday in Isle of Man every year 1965-1977. A lot of it looks familiar. After those 4.5 hour crossings and longer I had no bother travelling on ships anywhere else in the world. I can remember the hatch where the shop was. Looks so familiar. I often remember buying sweets there.
Yes it was in the so called Troubles era. We loved the Isle of Mann for holiday. When we returned to Northern Ireland it was home. Despite the troubles it was home and we never dreamt of going anywhere else.
Belfast Docks look familiar. Havnt really changed that much. Just people had no track suits and no high viz jackets.

Sadly after 28. years of rot and neglect Manxmans salvation was not .to be.
I suppose this event was a distraction from the "Troubles" at their depth. One hopes the passe ngers had some solace during their Manx holiday.

Preserving ships is an expensive business . Corrosion sets in , and there are few if any dry docks which could accommodate such a vessel The Americans are finding it expensive to keep the 1936 Queen Mary and the 1952 SS United States afloat. Ship enthusiast millionaires are few and far between.
I recall sailing from Douglas to Liverpool departing 0900 on Saturday 4th September 1976. Nearly 50 years ago for heaven's sake!
