My favorite part of this has to be Quall just grinning ear to ear and giggling throughout the whole thing. He's committed to the bit, but thinks it's so hilarious and just can't contain his joy. It's so infectious and wholesome but still works beautifully as part of the bit 😂
The energy is verrry similar. Early evidence of Tim moving from zany T&E stuff to this style of comedy. Angry Tim is really good, he seems so much like a real-life asshole.
The bit where they’re attacking Eric for doing a silly dance while David Liebe Hart is singing is already hilarious, but the fact that Eric says he didn’t know the camera was on him and he was “just trying to enjoy himself up there” tips it over the edge.
Who doesn't have Cybill Shepherd's birthday memorized either? Maybe everyone but James Quall & those close to Cybill Shepherd. One of those random things that's so funny.
@@zelqam7305 From what I heard, he has encyclopedic knowledge of Hollywood celebs. James Quall is actually kind of a savant when it comes to this specific segment of knowledge.
One of the best little things about this is Tim making a big deal out of presenting the cake, and the second Eric stands up to look at it, Tim admonishes him to wait until after the meeting.
@@getmeoutofsanfrancisco9917 IDK about James Quall. From what I've heard of him, he really is a bit "off". Basically he got brain damage when he was young due to meningitis or some sort of bad flew that kind of fried his brain. DLH is on another level though, he's pretty crazy and from what I heard pretty difficult to work with. You can even tell on T&E Nite Live, they have to try to reign in DLH a couple of times when he goes a little off the rails.
@@ilackedtheheart Yea you know what, on second thought, I take that back. Lol. DLH is no doubt flying off the rails at any given moment. No doubts there.
It's cool to see how influential James Qualls is during the pitch process. Thanks for the fly on the wall look at how the bread is made. You can see how the disappointment when DJ Douggpound realizes he was left out of the creation of "Leap Year Song." I think his involvement would have made it even better.
this is the kind of Tim and Eric thing which I don't actually find particularly funny but I'm just amazed at anyway. The acting and the improv is so amazing and there are so many tiny details that you notice on subsequent viewings. Bob Odenkirk and Tim steal the show here and poor Ben Hurr actually seems shocks near the end.
He's doing a leap year episode on the week before the week that leads up into the next year. I.e. he's choosing to do a Leap Year episode (2.5 months too early) instead of a Christmas episode. Amazing.
David is holding a piece of paper during the song, does that mean he actually writes these lyrics beforehand? I'd love to be the person who stumbled upon that piece of paper without any context.
it would've been funny if bob suggested bringing gorillas on the set for leap year as his idea.. and tim would say it's hilarious because it's bob saying it
wonder how much of this was improvised ?? can't imagine the likes of James Quall or Davd Liebe Hart would have fully understood the concept of what they were trying to do with this episode
I have come across James quall sleeping on a bus stop bench and David liebe hart in a subway station. They’re ok people but coming across them in real life I don’t care what they think about the tim and Eric humor.
The best subtle thing in this is when Bob comes in, he greets all the freaks by first name, and doesn't say hi to Eric. Just shakes his hand quickly before acknowledging Ben Hur.
After this episode it makes me question what was and wasn’t “planned” to be funny for the entire show. They said a lot of stuff on this episode were technical glitches, so I guess that wasn’t cannon in their comedic process according to the nite live universe, but some of the skits were? It’s all hilarious, but this episode is breaking my brain.
+Cruzer The whole series is a planned disaster. The idea is that they had a really good episode, but given the nature of the show, they didn't capture the right moments.
This is missing one thing... and if I were there, I would've corrected that issue. The table was never flipped. Now I feel like there is real passion to produce this show but it doesn't exactly translate when, during an argument, the table doesn't get flipped. I'm at a loss as who to blame for this, but it definitely seems like another amateur mistake. Typically this means that someone of great creative influence isn't doing enough, and by not flipping over the table that can only verify that fact. Tim didn't flip the table because he was actually using it to demonstrate his point and to command the argument by pounding his fists and leaning on it with his arms in an aggressive body pose. However... Eric never touches the table. He barely even acknowledges the table is there, except at the end when he grabs food from it to throw at Tim. That isn't enough... I can only agree with Tim when he says that "my worst is your best." Or whatever the fuck he said. I'm high.
I just love the idea of James Quall and Richard Dunn being cowriters on the show

I just love this episode. It deconstructs everything about T&E NL by playing everything straight. One of the best works T&E has done.
comedy like this doesnt come round too often. genius

Bob Odenkirk is such an amazing actor. I think James Quall and David Liebe Hart actually thought he was their real boss lmao.

Dick dunn trying to link leap year to bluray fuckin killed me
James Quall (with chocolate still all over his face): "Oh, we all get to use the paper towels?"
leap years. of time and space. leap years.
One of my favorite things they've done. Nite Live in general, but especially this ep.
No one can deliver a line like Richard Dunn could. What a legend.

Makes you wonder what their real writing meetings look like.
That's the meta joke of this episode, that the freaks have any input.
(I'm sure it's not just tim and eric writing, as I mistakenly said before.)
This wasn't real?
Them having fun laughing their asses off
Tim Heidecker is the most influential comedian of this generation
Haha! I hope that you said that during the show. ONCE.

the pair of eric and tim together and the support of all their friends
