Probably because it’s Google and people see them as an evil corporation stealing people privacy and they’re advertising an App - and that people mis trust monks or any other religious type as they have a massive reputation for abusing children all over the world… and he said he worked for Russian oil company… not exactly know for their morality.

One of the most profound talks I have ever seen online. Both the host and Andy added so much to the quality of the conversation. I have been doing Headspace for sometime but this provided so much value on top of that.

Thank you, Andy. Thank you, Google. Changing my life and the lives around me one meditation at a time. Headspace, its format and its voice, have engaged me as no other practice. My gratitude is boundless.

Not consistent with meditation by any means, but I enjoy Headspace's Rainday Antique Shop. I find it easy to close my eyes an envision the antique store's layout.
Side note: A true journalist would have teased out Puddicome's story of transitioning from life of a monk to his current role.

_"Unless you can improve on silence, it's better not to say anything at all. But we have to say something."_
_"There's so much chatter and discussion around mindfulness that we can miss out on the thing we sought to discover in the first place."_
_"to study the science of compassion so that when we take these practices to the greater community we can do it standing on the ground of science"_
The solution is to implement the best of *biofeedback and neurofeedback* and you can have a system that essentially acts as a surrogate guru, enabling you to measure changes in neuro-biology before, during, and after any number of different meditation practices.
    *Objective Measurement data*
-brain activity (gamma, beta, alpha, theta, delta)
-left/right brain hemishere coherence (see Dr Alarik Arenander EEG)
    -heart rate
-heart rate variability (watch Dr Alan Watkins Coherence Showreel)
    -blood pressure
    -galvanic skin response
    -respiration rate
    -oxygen saturation (oximetrty)
    -temperature
    -ect (see mindmedia biofeedback)
Then you simply pool all that data and create a mosaic of information, wherein numerous informative and practical correlations and patterns can be made, such as seeing what meditative practices are most effective for shifting neurophysiological patterns towards optimal.

what is an "optimal" neurophysiological pattern??

    • @placeboeffeks3978
      @placeboeffeks3978 9 лет назад +1

Optimal is when the pattern is desirable (having benefit). Suboptimal is when the pattern is undesirable (having no benefit or is detrimental).
      Does that answer your question?

What is the Key to being a Monk? Mindful of the fact that we are above ourselves, we have left the thoughts of the jungle behind, yet we still live in the jungle. Thoughts come to eat you like monsters.

How do you get someone to engage in meditation if they appear to be resisting?
Simply. Give them something that will give them feedback.. like a Jawbone UP, which is a device you can wear that will give you feedback on your sleep quality... Then you can watch as your sleep quality improves over time.

Andy, I have just discovered you and follow your meditations. However I do find your overuse of the word SO, very iritating. A very American thing but its creeping into the UK so much now.
