He's actually been before, in the comics, after Venom had bonded to Peter and was bonded to Brock, Spiderman had to ask him to help defeat Carnage, and Venom helped him because "I'm the only one allowed to kill Spider-Man" which is contradictive, but this did help solidify his role as an Anti-Villain. And since Venom has the spider symbol, this takes place after he had bonded to Peter, which could very well place them after Carnage's fight. Though I've never played this, so idk the timeline or events of this potentially separate universe from any 616 event
Actually, correction of myself, apparently Venom isn't even considered an Anti-Villain anymore, he's an Anti-Hero now, so pardon my mistake there
