    If I send u the cluster , what would u charge me to up grade a cluster I have that the Speedo is going out of ?

    i'll check my wiring diagrams to figure out which wire does what again... you are right about the white (pin 4) being tach signal. there is also a white (pin 34) high beam though.
    ok, so
    black on my pinout shows (pin 9 & 24) ground.
    brown shows 2... (pin 6) parking light input (-) or (pin 10) alt (-)
    for your signal lights, there should be a
    dark blue (pin 7) for right signal (+)
    blue (pin 8) for left signal (+)
    * sometimes these signal light wires have 2 wires going into a single terminal...

    Don't think it will be useful to me but someday I just never know,video was really well done,and the close ups where really good to.
    I would however love to have one of those dremels,they seem to be quite handy. Take care.

    @Choaf82 im trying to sell the blazer now, i have like 10 people interested in it, but im moving in like 4 days, so it kinda makes it hard for people to come see it on the weekend when im leaving on saturday haha. and i parted out my 92 s10. never thought in a million years i'd be doing that, but oh well... we got my brother's 92 toyota running with the motor out of my 92 s10. he's got my motor, transmission, gauge cluster and complete wiring harness, so its like my truck lives on :)

  • @analog56x
    @analog56x  11 лет назад

    i am not sure... the goal for this conversion was using the L shaped electric speedometer in a gauge cluster that was cable driven. the reason i did this, was because the cable driven cluster had all the gauges: speedo, tach, fuel, volt, oil, coolant.
    anyways, if i had to guess, id say look around the tailshaft of the transmission for your cable. find the same area on an electric speedo vehicle and then swap them out. you'll need all the wiring too. theres a module strapped to the ECM as well.

    @Choaf82 haha, good call on the forum :P i hardly ever check it anymore, i dont have an s10 anymore...
    umm... for the ABS light, is it just supposed to come on when ABS is activated? if so, then yea, it would be easy to wire up the ABS light. all you'd have to do is figure out which wire goes live when the ABS turns on, then tap into it for the light. super easy :)

  • @Choaf82
    @Choaf82 14 лет назад

    @analog56x I see man well good luck with everything I might be able to figure something out for the ABS in the future. right now its always on anyways cause i have air in the unit but cant for the life of me get it bled.

  • @analog56x
    @analog56x  13 лет назад

    @Bringit2DaMat i dont see why not :) it should be the exact same method. as long as you find an electric speedo the same style (either L or C) as the one you currently have.

    How hard is it to swap from an 85 dash and vable driven gauge to an 91 electric speedo setup

  • @Vacmasterthegreat
    @Vacmasterthegreat 12 лет назад

    do all of these dashes with the tach have a cable speedo? and how does the tach work if the current dash wiring doesn't have one? but if not all of these are cable driven, will the non-cable driven cluster fit right in a non-tach dash and work correctly? I found 1 in a 92 and I'd think by then they went all digital. Would you know about modding in a digital cluster too? thanks in advance

  • @analog56x
    @analog56x  12 лет назад

    @jgw1986 haha, thanks man :) im always better at showing that trying to explain... what i would do, is depending on your tach, i would just swap it out for a 4cyl... or it might even work with the original tach...

  • @jordo5552
    @jordo5552 12 лет назад

    Ok so I have the dash wired and cluster done all the gauges work(except temp but I just have to swap some wires cause a couple were the same color) but I can't figure out what the wires for the tach do I beileve the white one is data and I'm guessing the black is ground but what is the brown one for positive? Also my signal light lights aren't working so I have to figure that out.for me it was a little harder cause I started out with a digital dash

  • @Choaf82
    @Choaf82 14 лет назад

    I have a few questions about this I replied again on the forums but know how often you check back there. Do you think there is anyway to keep the ABS light functional I know it didn't come with ABS then but was just wondering. Also how high of RPM do you think of a dremel I will need I don't want to buy one that wont do the job but I also doubt I will ever use the high end models. I was thinking the cheap cordless one from Wal-Mart but not sure if it will even have enough juice.

    Thanks for the mod bro!
    One question. My blaze (89) had the standard speedo and fuel gauges, and I installed one with the gauges and everything wacked out.
    How do I find the pinouts for the newer cluster?
    I'd like to do that before proceeding to the tach mod

    @analog56x SO no more diesel plans man I was looking forward to that did you just sell off the blazer or something happen to it?

    @Choaf82 i drive better without fancy stuff haha. i like to be able to feel what my vehicle is doing. i remember the first time i had ABS come on, it freaked me out and i nearly crashed... i didnt have it on my 92 s10, and i never had an issue. i like to be 100% in control of the vehicle. fuel injection is the most i like a computer to control on my vehicles haha :P

    What about the Speedo gear how do you change it from cable to electric

    I tried to swap the electric stepper motor in my 91, but I wanted to keep original kilometers, I have now done it twice where I have pulled the motor off the speedo unit but every time I put it back together nothing works, even when before I pulled apart the replacement speedo it worked. Any suggestions?

    • @analog56x
      @analog56x  7 лет назад

      Nathan Timmermans you could, very carefully, take the pins out of the replacement cluster enough to adjust the number wheels till it matches your original mileage. i did it a couple times. but if you do, just make 100% sure you know the order in which everything going together... i seem to remember it being quite fiddly... lots of small pieces. havent done anything like this in 6 or so years though haha. i cant rememberif you can just slide the pin out enough to lift it at one end, or if i had to take it all apart, but i was able to take another cluster and match my odometer reading :)
      cheers! and good luck

    Hey man real simple question for ya. I did a trans an motor swap which the new trans is electronic. And the original gauge is mechanical. What I'm wondering is there anything else I'd hafta acquire other than the electric L gauge and circuit board? Or is it just clean cut I do this run the wires down n connect plug and play? Which thanks btw this video is very helpful

    • @analog56x
      @analog56x  7 лет назад

      Max Smith hey, youre talking for speedometer? id try to fit the cable drive into the tranny where the speed sensor goes. if that doesnt work, youll need the wire harness, the speedo box (i forget the name of it now... its mounted behind the glovebox on top of the heater core box... should be a white plastic box with a plug on one end). trying to fit the cable end in would be the easier of the two options. you may be able to build a hybrid as well... its been a long time since ive been elbows deep in a s10 :(

  • @wileyjones1812
    @wileyjones1812 5 лет назад

    Kewl vid. Question. What do u do with the wires from the electric Speedo on the trans??

    • @analog56x
      @analog56x  5 лет назад

      Nothing. Everything will already be wired up to your cluster plugs. The only modifications are to the cluster.

  • @analog56x
    @analog56x  14 лет назад

    @psychotikpaisano what i did was made my own pinouts. its a bit time consuming, but i compared the clusters from the back side, marking down each pin # and finding out where it goes and everything. i dont know where you could find the pinouts, but check out s10forum and search for my posts : "golana" i have a bunch of pinouts and stuff on there.

    @Choaf82 haha, i hate ABS. i dont like any of that fancy computer controlled crap. to get the air out, i would use my vacuum pump haha, i use it to bleed my brakes, super easy :D

    @jakeanddar thanks :) its nice to hear that i did a good job on this video!
    i made this tutorial for my minitrucker bros over at s10forum(dot)com and zeroclearance(dot)ca
    i did a writeup on how i did this modification, but it wasnt as clear as i had liked it to be, so i made a video tutorial that explains it, and shows it better.

    @analog56x Yeah I admit I like ABS on stuff that comes with it my 57 is great without it but if its my daily driver and anyone one else going to be with me i want to be safe especially if i ever drive my niece and nephew around.

  • @banditobigmac5429

    And this should work without putting some kind of sensor or anything else, just the straight swap? I was planning on getting the digital gauges for my truck is that possible? You posted this awhile back but I would really appreciate a response thank you.

    • @analog56x
      @analog56x  5 лет назад +1

      This is to take your basic non-tach, electric speedo driven cluster, and add a tach cluster. The non-tach uses a bigger sweep gauge, instead of the sideways L shaped gauge. If your truck is cable driven speedometer right now, this will disable your speedometer, as your truck doesnt have the sensors or wiring for the electric driven speedometer.
      I hope this clarifies things for you.
      Cheers bud!

      @@analog56x My problem is that have have a 85 s-10 with a cable driven speedo and a later model tranny with the sensor. (no choice) I should be able to just run a wire from the sensor on the tranny to the sensor (2 pin) pin of the flexible circuit board, correct? Assuming of course I install an 87 cluster with electric speedo.

    • @analog56x
      @analog56x  5 лет назад

      @@paulandrulis4672 you'll need a few more things. Behind the glovebox, theres a module that takes the signal from the speed sensor and chops it up into a signal that your speedo can use. I forget the name of it at the moment though... you can repin it if you change tire sizes to keep your speedometer accurate.
