    Nice bit of lightening going on there - no roof lining, no front plastic valance. And you have resisted the temptation to add heavy duty front and rear bumpers (emphasis on heavy.....) I'm trying to lighten my '96 V8 as much as possible here in the UK and considered junking the rear seats. But now I see a perfect use for them - a vantage point from which to contemplate my many failures. Love it.

      I did like the simplicity of the truck back then, but now it has a roof rack, and a steel front bumper with a winch.

      Thanks! I'm hoping to get out a lot more once the weather gets a little nicer. The Disco loves rain and snow, but my camera and drone do not...

      Thanks. It’s a good 20 footer, I’d say. Lots of battle scars. But for a 25-year-old 4x4, I’m not complaining.

    I learned the hard way what wheeling all day in deep snow does to your swivel ball seals - Eventually the snow compresses into hard ice which then dents in your seals - Fun!! Rockware use to make swivel ball seal guards, but not sure if they still do?

    • @tfrasca
      @tfrasca  Год назад

      Interesting you mention that because I need to do my swivel ball seal as one is dented in from the outside. Probably from this video. Whoops.

    If you only had one set of snow chains for the disco would you lock the div in low range and put them on the rear tires. Cheers

    Для таких покатушек нужны хорошие зимние шины спущенные до 0.3 кГс.
    Цепи по рыхлому снегу пропиливают ямы и машина останавливается. Этой зимой навигатор завёл в овраг, и санг ёнг тиволи эйр моей жены на полном приводе по укатанной дороге выехал по крутому склону. А свой ленд ровер Дискавери 1 я ещё не отремонтировал. Просели гильзы в двигателе. 1996 год пробег 116000 километров. Удивительная машина.

    • @tfrasca
      @tfrasca  Год назад +2

      Oh, the center locker works fine. But having front and/or rear diff lockers would help a lot in situations like this, and I don’t have them.

      @@tfrasca gotcha just making sure, that's good. so we're you locked for most of the snow driving with chains? and hi or lo?

    • @tfrasca
      @tfrasca  Год назад +2

      @@erikanson6257 yeah, the center diff was locked as soon as I chained up, and I was in low range for probably 90% of it.

  • @ProDiscovery

    chains are not suitable for driving in deep snow. The pressure must be reduced to at least 0.5 bar. The MT tire is also not well suited for snow, a winter tire is better.

    • @tfrasca
      @tfrasca  Год назад +2

      Yeah, I figured that out this day, haha. I normally air down to around 10 psi in the snow. I was at about 15 psi with the chains on. The chains definitely helped me get up TO the deep snow, but they just cause me to dig into it when it got really deep.
