Exactly, who cares if your friend's daughter needs support. She made her bed, let her lay in it. That tough delivery was karma, it wasn't the baby's fault being conceive how she was. But life showing Ashley how she made a horrible mistake and the decision to keep it quiet. All the mom had to do was stay. It was simple, a decent mother would have just stayed instead of being there for a friend. She could easily have started restoring the trust. But she chose her friendship over her daughter. And when granddaughter got her aunt to come back to help. The mom tried to get her daughter to help restore that friendship. The mom deserves everything she is getting. Numerous choices she could have made, once she knows Kyle was the dad she could have waited while figuring out how to tell op. It is not bad trying to figure out how to tell your child crushing news. Instead she chose to keep it a secret cause it helped her friendship.

Imagine finding out someone you've been supporting non-stop selfishly stabbed you in the back.
Makes me convinced if OP could go back in time, she'd have withdrawn all that help. No consoling, no defending her from the bullies, no attending classes with her...just leave her to rot. You dont get to stab someone in the back, and then expect support
But really the betrayal of OPs family is actually worse. Imagine caring more about the culprit than the victim. They enabled the affair, and even when caught ordered OP to suck it up so they could continue their little fantasy of how everyone's happy together and singing koombaya.
OPs only mistake was to talk to them again. From the moment of discovering the betrayal the first time, she should've made being an orphan her new identity and never looked back
Update: OPs mom's a piece of work. "Waaaaaah I lost a lot of friends in high school waaaah" well now you lost two daughters, and a husband, and trust me more kids are out the door, have fun being a miserable old hag alone, once your bestie with her cheating son gets bored of you.
Honestly I think Ashley being super duper sorry would be even more insulting than her acting like she did nothing wrong. Because she had MANY opportunities to feel regret, little too late now.

Because I feel like that is the best way to convey the situation to them and send a clear message, they do not deserve the closure, they do not deserve the peace, they do not deserve anything from you. The nerve of them, to send a letter after everything that happened is a lot of nerve and this whole story had me shaking in anger.
The nerve of the mom to try to scapegoat you, at every turn, and then call you selfish is disgusting beyond words and is one of the few times I justify violence.
You should send that letter back unopened because it sends a clear message, they can’t fix it, they can’t resolve it, they can’t get closure, they can’t undo anymore that happened, she’s never gonna have her friend, your ex isn’t going to get off the hook, and you do not need to forgive any of them.
You have moved on, make that your revenge. A life well lived while the relationships they all betrayed you for fall apart is the best thing you can do, above all, keep ur head held high❤

First and only story: Wow...woooow. OP's family are horrible people. Kyle is an absolute scumbag and Ashley is an even bigger scumbag. They sleep together, Ashley gets pregnant and basically tricked OP in being there to support the child of her (then) bf. They hid this for pure selfish reasons. Then theres OP's parents and Kyle's parents; they are soooo worred about their "happy family" they want OP to just ignore her pain from this betrayal?! OP needs to just go no contact. OP's mom is absolutely insane and I think OP's dad seen it as well. None of what OP went through is irrelevant to her, she just wanted things to go back the way they were; only for her own actions to cause her to lose two of her daughters and her husband. The fact she called OP selfish for refusing to talk to the people who betrayed her is baffling. OP made the right call to go no contact with her mom

The story of the kid who’s school tried to pressure him into doing an assignment so he could walk on his graduation (which, for the life of me, I can’t find).

It's clear that the reason Kyle and Ashley marriage is in turmoil is because Kyle is still in love with Op and wanted to be with her but because he got Ashley pregnant and was forced to marry her so he harbored some resentment towards Ashley and her and Ops family. This was all triggered cuz he saw that Op was happily married to Dean with two kids of their own. So this trash human being is mad that Op was no longer available for them.
Also this is a classic case of a narcissistic mom who only cares about herself and cares about her friends. She only wants control over Op and hates that she married an outsider. The rest of Ops family is slowly waking up to how messed up the entire friendships and relationships are here

I love how the mother's only motivation to be a terrible person was the fact she wanted to keep everything under her control.
    Think about it:
    - OP and boyfriend of three years were planning to get married. OP was okay with being a stay-at-home this way. Mom approved not because of OP's happiness, but because that way she will keep her close to her as well as all the families involved.
    - Boyfriend did the stupid and knocked OP's BFF up. Mom saw this as a threat to her nice and tidy relationships so she first tried to hide it from OP, then decided that keeping ex-boyfriend and ex-BFF and their families content will be better for her relationships. The few for the many, after all. All she had to do this way was convince OP to keep up with it for (her) greater good.
    - They filled missing person when OP ran away. It didn't go anywhere.
    - Once they were back 15 years later and after talking with each other for a while, Mom brought up her original plan to keep everyone together. Personally, I love that she didn't even try to hide the fact it was "her wishes".
    - In the end, everyone gets fed up with her. Mom lost her husband, her friends, and everything she probably has worked on keeping around for her entire life. Of course, she got anxious and depressed in the end because, it took one single person who decided to get away from her, for everything to fall appart and show her true colors.
This is what narcissistic people deserve. It so sad that everyone else had to break in order to (hopefully) root her out of their lives.

Tbh if I got a letter like that I'd hand it over to my husband and have him read it. And see if its bad or not. If its bad then he can throw it and say "Its not worth your time of day or peace at mind".
Its the only way to at least feel safe because maybe Ashley is trying to say sorry because it sounds like she had OP involved in the baby's life a lot before she found out.
Having someone take care of you like that while youre pregnant with their bf's child makes no sense unless she was hellbent on keeping her friend more then Kyle.
Which im guessing is the choice she may of wanted to have done but didnt when she kept the child. Idk if there was abortion access but she certainly didnt try that which is quite odd.
I think OP if anything your mother was so scared she couldnt comprehend that she was choosing friends over her daughter.
To lie, have family keep this secret and tell your siblings to lie for months...something tells me this isnt her first time. And i wouldn't be surprised if suddenly you found out she cheated on your father in the past.
Keep yourself far from her but I say maybe after shes alone for more years she may finally see she was the complete bad egg of the whole bunch for what she did. I still would stay no contact though personally.

this is so horrible for OP she was betrayed 3 times all at once that's more than any one person should have to deal with...
friend betrayed by sleeping with OP's boyfriend hiding it and keeping the kid knowing full well that'd hurt OP.
boyfriend betrayed by sleeping with OP's friend and choosing to stay with the friend.
family betrayed by keeping all this under wraps and choosing their friendships over their blood.
after all that is it any wonder OP ran off but boy the younger sister sending texts that the baby and ex friend were fine was likely not what OP want to hear at the time in her raw anger (not that I'm wishing harm or anything) not one person in OP's old life realized that trying to keep things how they were would only have hurt OP given how no one considered her feelings in all this.
side note anyone else feel they had that niece speak about the money troubles to OP so OP would feel obligated to come "rescue" them when in reality it was just a shallow attempt to get in contact with OP a guilt trip her.

The moment the mother tried to guilt op into talking to kyle and ashley, my entire reaction was "nope, time to leave and go nc with the lot of them again"
Btw, for anyone wishing Ashley and Kyle the same pain they brought op, its ok, it'll happen, if they cheat with you they'll cheat on you, and clearly neither of them have a problem with stepping out of the relationship, while they both will likely end up paranoid and possessive trying to keep the other from cheating. At least that's how it usually goes when two morally defunct people get together.

So not only did they cheat, Ashley let her friend get so involved and excited over this pregnancy, throw her a baby shower, all of the things OP listed, and Kyle was (I’m assuming) still with her and treating her like his girlfriend, and THEY BOTH KNEW AND DIDNT SAY ANYTHING?!

Little sister purposely was being loud about the situation because she knew op had to know and didn't like keeping that a secret. The way the mom looks at it, is if ops sister kept quiet op would have never left so op little sister was angry that she was the only one getting blamed. Then she ran off too. OP's parents literally told her younger sister to keep the secret. The family members OP does talk to after all this are the lucky ones.

The mom only cared about the image of the connected families, it seems, not the actual people in her family. The mom is the selfish one, not OP.

OP, you were betrayed, not only by Kyle and Ashley, but yours and their entire families as well. NONE OF THEM took your feelings into consideration. even after you took a step to reconnect, they insisted on violating your boundaries to make themselves feel better. If your niece hasn't learned the truth of what happened by now, it may be time to inform her. But for your won mental health, it's time to say goodbye, AGAIN!
UPDATE: OP, I'm glad your able to have a relationship with your siblings, nieces and nephews and father (even if strained/rocky). I suspect your mother has/had a personality of being socially involved and being cut out a second time sent her over the edge. Her problem, not yours. As for Ashley's letter, let your husband read it and decide if it's anything you should know about, but give him guidelines on what you're willing to hear. All in all, go forth and live your best life.
