    We still have these issues because hardly anyone wore tinfoil hats during the pandemic. The tinfoil repels viruses.

    The FDA has chosen to adopt the JN.1 subtype to produce a monovalent vaccine. Apparently this was done because NOVAVAX could not pivot to produce a vaccine against later subtypes, such as KP.2 & KP.3. Some experts had hoped that a bivalent vaccine, including protection against these subtypes could have been produced. However, it has previously been shown that including the earlier subtypes show no benefit over a monotype vaccine against the latest subtypes; eg: KP.2 & KP.3. This is thought to be because of imprinting.
    The formulation of the Autumn/Fall vaccine against COVID-19 impacts the UK as well as the US. In the UK the vaccine against COVID-19 is administered at the same time as the annual Flu vaccination, which starts early in September, sooner than in the US. In previous years this has resulted in the latest vaccines being available too late, so that vaccines against earlier subtype has had to be used.
    The planned and used vaccines, in the UK were as follows:-
    Autumn 2022 FDA selected BA.4/BA.5 to late so UK purchased BA.1/BA.2 bivalent
    Autumn 2023 XBB.1.1, BA.4/BA.5 + original bivalent - delay in providing prefilled single dose vaccines in AD syringes
    The problem is that the FDA is deciding the composition of the vaccine too late; this decision should have been made at least a month ago.

    I really appreciate the good information, but I have questions. Cattle in USA have been fed with chicken litter which is cheap source of protein and contains chicken feces, chicken parts, chicken feathers and other waste products. There have been no infections occurring in California or in Canada where chicken litter is banned. Why is it not banned completely in the USA? Is it not more likely that cattle are being infected by chicken litter than wild birds? Thank you

      Europe also does not allow chicken litter to be fed to cattle, however in some cases it is birds getting into water tubs or also getting into the feed troughs for grain. Cows can be fattened up with corn before being sold to slaughter. Just cook meat to the same temperature to kill food borne illnesses. Handle raw food as you would to prevent food borne illnesses, too. This why other countries are testing cattle, too.

      @@marklemont3735 Something else I'm wondering about. H5N1 is in milk and cats that drink infected raw milk get very sick or die. Over 3 million people in the US are drinking raw milk at least once a week. Why have there been no reports of anyone getting infected? My guess is if they do get infected, they are not getting very sick or they are not getting infected at all which is a good thing. I really do find it odd though

    • @marklemont3735
      @marklemont3735 4 месяца назад

      @@Iwatchcnn I do know some states certify raw milk vendors and monitor the milk once a month because raw milk can also transmit tuberculosis from cows to humans. I believe New Jersey doesn’t allow raw milk to be sold.

    The focus seems to be on cows. Is there a risk in eating chicken, eggs, etc? Some folks don't cook eggs fully.

      Great question! Poultry with H5N1 get really sick very quickly, with 98-100% fatality. Eggs, feed, and even manure get destroyed, along with the sick chickens.
      That said, FULLY cooked meat and eggs are safe. It's not a good time to eat rare beef or runny eggs right now. I hope this helps.

    Cases, hospitalizations and positivity rates here in Hawai’i are higher, with wastewater levels through the roof. Wastewater levels here don’t seem to predict cases, though-they seem to be very unpredictable.

    • @Lp78Ch
      @Lp78Ch 4 месяца назад +1

      At this point, if you still believe in positivity rates, you are hopeless. That's the most made-up statistic ever in the history of epidemiology. How any clear-headed scientist could accept that number as an indication for anything is beyond belief.

    • @sallybrookner4158
      @sallybrookner4158 4 месяца назад +1

      Waste water surveillance measures viral load in wastewater and is not positivity rate - that’s a different measure. Measuring SARS-CoV-2 in the wastewater’s is predictive of positivity rate.
