I am so scared of these fish, every morning when I leave for work I always check the garden beds, sides of the garage and around the car before driving away and it's even scarier coming home after dark as they are very hard to spot..!😨
SCUBA diving around Fiji several years ago. About 6 barracudas were swimming in a straight line not too far away. I had a Nikonos film camera at the time abd decided to get a little closer for a pic. I had my eye on the viewfinder as I swam toward them. I got the shot and lowered the camera. Turned out that I was quite close to them due to the viewfinder's view vs. real world. T thought "This could be very bad", but I just hovered in the water. They showed absolutely no interest in me. When we got back in the boat I asked the divemaster if I was being stupid. He shrugged and said he'd dived around them for years and had never seen any aggression. He said "I'd never try to pet one, but other than that, they are just another ocean creature in their space. We weren't invited, but they usually tolerate us."
yeah...but... iI used to boogie board within yards of Great Whites i didn't know where there either until i began watching youtube and now i'm like 'FUCK THAT I"M STAYING IN THE POOL!"
@0:36 The gazelle does not have to out run the fastest lion, just the slowest gazelle will do just nicely. It reminds me of the joke of two runners encountering a wild bear, upon which one of the runners starts fixing his shoe laces, so the other one asks do you really think you can out run a bear? To which the other says: no but I only have to out run you. 3, 2, 1...
How freaking awesome is that golden jellyfish that has its own algae it carries around to make its food? That is just the most amazing and awesome thing ever!❤❤❤
Barracudas in the open ocean are very dangerous. You don't want to shoot it or provoke it, most likely to launch straight at you. Any Barracuda over 5ft, attacking you, is surely a fatal affair.
Korn dog, how many Cuda's have attach you, if someone put a spear in me I would attach them too. So, best thing to do is don't provoke them. They are one of the fastest fish in the water and you can't out move them. I did say out swim them, you don't have a chance. I have cought a few in my life time on rod and reel, the speed of them going thru the water is incredible.
How many barracuda have you been around? In the last 3 days I have been around about a dozen and they had no interest in me. I've been around over 100, same reaction. Very cool fish!
@michaelmilosovic7732 NO telling, some didn't stick around for me to count. LOL My brothers and I use to fish all night on channel 5 bridge, between Fiesta and Craig Key the bridge is 2 miles long, at the halfway mark, under the bridge was a cross-over, we would camp their. It would connect one cat walk to the other. One early morning walking to get the truck to load up, that one mile back the water was super clear, I counted 52 Cuda's each one was a wall hanger. I wouldn't want to try to pet them. Those were good times.
In the Caribbean, Barracuda are known to be fearless, if they take interest in you, they don't scare easily & are quiet fast. Divers are wary of them...
I would say the most feared apex predator would be either the great white shark or coastal brown bear/ grizzly bear. Keeping your ass out of the water is a great equalizer for fish predators, but if a bear comes up on you there is no escape if you don't have some heavy firepower
A friend of mine's dad was killed by a barracuda. It literally tore his body into two pieces while he was diving, in less than a minute. This type of fish is mean and violent.
Been snorkeling for lobsters in the waters of south florida for 50 years and never had any problems with Cuda's. Yes, they look scary especially when your in the water with them. The biggest one was at the North end of John Pennecamp park in Key Largo, i would say he was six foot but, under water everything looks larger so, probably only about 5 foot.
The Orca is the apex predator of the sea, they routinely eat Great White Sharks' fatty and highly nutritious livers as a favourite delicacy while often discarding the remainder of the carcasses. Sharks flee when Orcas are around. Orcas are the perfect combination of intelligence, speed, power and teamwork and unlike Great White Sharks, Orcas have no natural predators.
Homo Sapiens also mammals, and fish and amphibian and reptile too actually. We are all of them, in the sense we belong to all these clades, and so do the giraffes...
