Fun fact; if you remove a lore counter from a saga in response to its last ability, it's not sacrificed! (unfortunately it doesn't really help in this case, because the commander can only be activated at sorcery speed) But you could easily tech in Clockspinning, Hex parasite, Thrull parasite, or Power conduit to do this, if it's a thing you WANT to do! (also I think power conduit specifically is a spicy include because it also gives your creatures +1/+1 counters to proliferate) Also another card that doesn't let you do that particular trick but is worth a mention if you're trying to lean into the "repeat saga ability" thing, is Chisei, Heart of Oceans Also another different sub-theme, but I think worth mentioning, you can "abuse" battles in much the same way, as you can remove the counters and trigger them without attacking! Very cool take on a pretty unique commander though, it's easy to just lean into one half of his abilities, but using both back and forth is definitely the most satisfying!
Great deck tech! I'll definitely be brewing a version of this now. I wanted to take him in the battles route for a while, but couldn't find a super satisfying way to do it. Using both sides of him for the populate/proliferate back and forth is a genius idea and now I'm excited to tinker with it! Thanks for always making quality content!
Oh this is 100% a deck im putting together. I do know the one change I will make. I will slot in Fain the Broker somewhere, just to have a bit more redundancy on the counter removal aspect.
Irenicus's Vile Duplication lets you create a non-legendary, flying token copy of your Commander that you can then proliferate to your heart's content (a nice backup for the Kiora's Follower). Also Seedborn Muse lets you do your shenanigans on every player's turn if you aren't able to go infinite. Finally, you can use Soul Diviner as a way to refill your hand if needed, just as a few suggestions.
EDIT: You still lose life for the flipped over spells because the ruling says you lose life for the combined CMC of "all the exiled cards". The face up cards are still exiled. Sooo disregard the rest of this comment. I'm not a judge but I did go through judge academy (RIP) and uhhhh *almost* completed becoming a rules advisor (I never actually got around to taking the test oops). My guess for Creation of Avacyn would be that because you've already turned the non-creature cards face up, the saga doesnt see them turning and so you dont lose all the life for those. You would still put ALL the cards exiled with it onto the battlefield though, since it still sees that they were exiled by its ability. I think. I'm gonna ask a judge later and see if that's right.
@@PowerBudgetTCG I'm wrong, the second ruling says you lose life equal to the combined CMC of *ALL* the exiled cards, and the non-creatures you flip over are still exiled. The third ruling says you put all or none of the exiled permanents onto the battlefield, so the same logic applies. I'll update my comment with the correct ruling.
I refuse to play this commander just because I HATE how much stuff "Activate as a sorcery" is stapled onto lately. Beginners are going to only activate it as a sorcery anyway, but let the more advanced players do cool shit!

I love that you went with saga's as the focus! Great video as always! Super excited to build it!

Honestly not a bad choice. Fain is great with the creature counters.
I love your aweful dad jokes. Punny or not. Your delivery is epic and makes it all work. 😂
I get super hyped for the decks in these videos, gonna put this one in the ol moxfield and see how it turns out :)
My friend has been wanting to build a Xavier Zal for a bit, so I sent him the video! Love the channel!

Thats what I thought. I was really hoping that be the case! Lemme know if there are any additional updates. 😁

IKR?? Someone was commenting that if you didn't have the sorcery bit you'd be able to use the last chapter and save the saga.
0:46 well.... Can he?
👀
wait, this is better than superfrends? it seems worse? or... better? wetter. borse.
Superfriends lacked a creature base. Its berse because by the end of it you can still swing with tokens.
@@PowerBudgetTCG shrodinger's commander deck. better and worse depending on how you're observing it
Damn this looks awesome but im afraid im too much of a noob for that one 🥲
Can't get better without pushing those limits 😁. The more you play it the easier it gets.
