Philippines REAL VENICE GRAND CANAL (Not BGC Mall) - Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi

  • THIS IS THE PHILIPPINES' REAL VENICE GRAND CANAL!
Sitangkai is the southernmost municipality of the Philippines - it sits right beside Sabah. Getting here is an adventure on the T-Waikiki Express, but once you arrive - let's just say, this is one of the most unique places you will ever go!
Sitangkai is built on a wide flat full of seaweed. It's a mix of Sama, Badjao, Tausug and descendants of Chinese traders who made their way here at various times in history. Rich in sea life, water flows naturally towards the Grand Canal - and so the town of now 20,000 people was built around this.
The public market is still floating - such a unique experience!
I will always treasure my memory of this adventure!

huh, Sitangkai is a place in Tawi2x. I just learn that today. In the early 1980's we heard that word as part of a lyrics of a song Baleleng but could not decipher what it is or what it means.

01:33 Kumander, you reacted very well to this. I hate others grabbing my bags. One of the reasons why I feel on guard in markets and other places.
