Vans can tow, go off road, perform and handle well, be used as portable homes, and so much more. Vans are a real life sand box experience where with enough dedication, you can make them do anything. Thats why i like vans so much!
Someone once said vans are like Kirby: they may look bland on the surface, but once they "inhale" another vehicle type, they copy the properties of that vehicle type to a fucking T.

I just bought an AWD 2001 Safari with 72k miles on it yesterday. Thing is immaculate. I am having 28" BFG all-terrains installed as I type this. Can't freaking wait to get it back. Eventually I will lift it on 31's. These vans ROCK!

I grew up in an Astro van! My dad and I went to a butt ton of dirt bike events all over the east coast. Soft spot in my heart for one of these!
And just like that, the hooniigans made 1998 Astro vans cool again.
My mom had an Astro van when I was younger. That was the best car she's ever owned in my opinion. I strive to buy the AWD version one day and try and make it into something amazing

I have the Journey Off Road "7 INCH MAXIMUM HIGH LIFT KIT" running 33x12.50s on an Astro and can say it is very good, and the instructions that come with make for an easy install! 10/10 would highly recommend!

Sounds like it needs the fuel spider replaced. 10/10 recommend, will make that v6 run so much better. We've had 13 and they run so much better with it. Mines lifted 4" right now on 30s

Probably the biggest fan of the Astro/SAFARI vans. Absolute best RWD workhorses. The world is missing this type of vehicle now, except for what is left of the old ones (which isn't much).
If only Chevy would bring back this vehicle (I know... it will never happen... 😢)

I'm doing the same to a 2007 VW Caddy TDI 1.9.
The little diesel motor is great. I'm gonna convert it to AWD or 4x4 (whatever parts I can get for cheap really) The good part is I can use parts off other VW models.
I've got a 2 inch lift kit off a navara which I'm gonna try to make that work. Hopefully the tophats fit.
I think I rewatched the Ad like 10 times that was hilarious, almost had a Gallagher smash vibe to it.
I loved my Astro Van, but after 3 transmission replacements, I gave it to a junker for about $200. I felt good to be free of it. I know several people who all had the same transmission issues. Getting stranded in Tuscaloosa, AL, was the last straw.
Love the timelapse of him not even TRYING to star pattern them bead locks. TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST....id probably do it no differently.

Four bolts at the rear you can pull that drive shaft out of the way peek over top of tank and unplug the fuel lines. Same on all full frame pickups vans blazers Bravadas from same time era. Those fuel clips are nightmares lol. Been there quite a few times.

This van was the only thing missing from the gymkana 10 video! I used to have one of these things for work that had the 4.3V6 and 5spd trans and when a C clip fell off of the axle shaft because the boss owner was cheap we stuck another clip made from a washer and then welded the spider gears up for the Lincoln locker treatment! It literally would just spin and spin the tires after that! I was only carrying windshields in it anyway!!! But no weight in the rear and cast iron engine in front of the axle centerline! It actually was dangerous and would do better sideways action then my 340-4spd 71 Duster! But for upgraded parts on this van if you are going to overland or off road? A PULL PAL is a must! Recovery (Snap Strap) air compressor for airing the tires up because the Scorpions like to run at lower pressure or there stiff sidewalls rebound into the vehicles suspension sending it to your ass! Upgrade the rear axle and 4 Link\Shocks! The stock suspension in soft materials likes to axle wrap killing the stock rear axle and spitting out parts from all over the place! The above van ended up with a 69DZ 302-12.5 compression with a carb shop custom 900cfm Demon and port injected shark nozel nitrous and snows methanol. Hard in my area to get better than 93 on a regular basis and I didn't want to burn the Bottom end! Surprisingly Brian and the Hoons! The only reason it ended up with that engine is the original 5speed trans REFUSED to join the wall of misfit broken toy's!! Good luck with your Badasstro trouble maker! Bill.
