I used to drive a Foden 8x4 in the late 70s whilst in the Army in Germany (BAOR) which had a Rolls Royce Eagle 3 engine and a 13 speed Fuller box….. Oh! the joy and memories. Thanks for posting 8x2….
I love these older trucks. Reminds me when I was a kid and made me pick up the spanners. Now it’s Adblue and dpf 😓. These things sounded like an animal being annoyed. Thanks for posting
my first truck. past class 1 at 18. in 2000 Same day heading to Chester with a load of dressed stone from bradford. in our spare truck. a 87 E reg 8 wheeler foden 4300 with 300 roller 13 speed Eaton no limiter. She just been rebuilt. engine rebuilt and new tipper body and a full respray. Nice trucks strong and light weight.
Beautiful !!!! I'd spend weekends and my summer hols as a kid working with my dad he had a 150 ton Foden heavy haulage low loader Cat engine and this Fuller box great memories of watching the old man drive and giving it some real work big loads. Thank you for putting this on
That cummins l10 sounds beautiful, the fuller box is brillaint i am only 19years old but the old 4000 series and the alpha one were brilliant trucks. Would like to buy a 4525 one day.
My first driving job after gaining my class 1 was for "Amalgamated Roadstone" in a Foden half cab which had the previous Fuller box, with 4 on the floor and 3 on the column, I had driven 'Eaton" and "Boys" two speed axles which gave me a bit of a clue. My introduction to this handful was to drive down the field empty with the foreman mechanic clinging on the bonnet. "Use the top two ranges like a 2 speed axle, but whatever you do avoid the low range". I think I ground every cog of the gearbox to paste that first day, and figured out from necessity how to get into the low range. It wasn't pretty! That's enough embarrassment for now.
Make the best driver look amature when you first drive the Eaton twin splitter foden when I mastered the tricks on how to use them I only use the clutch to stop and start it beautiful combinations
brilliant gearbox. The old road ranger was good when ye fit back of 13 speed on the ass end of it. Kevin ward. wards recovery Wakefield showed us how to do it. and to convert the 8 speed Eaton to a 13 speed. Twin splitter wins hand down though
Nice to see someone who can double the clutch up and down correctly and so smooth, matching the gear and road speeds so well, good pilot!! makes me laugh seeing drivers in 143m show trucks blipping the revs, so they mimic double-de-clutching ...sounds ridiculous and probably screwing the synchro's
Timed the Shifts quite well . Only a couple of crunch/grinds . DON'T REST YOUR HAND ON THE STICK UNNECCESARILY ! Wears the shift mechanism out ahead of time . Not built for CONSTANT loading . Similar to Riding the Clutch Pedal . So you know , I spent 30 yrs as a Semi Driver in Australia . Now retired .
@@donnajohnston9794 Does that have the Boeing made cable shift set-up? I used to drive a Cat powered tandem drive with the Lovely elephants foot suspension, drove 170 miles solo in that and needed 2 days in bed with back trouble! Built before speed limiters were 'necessary' and used to march on past anything at 38 tons. Sadly it had to go as we worked into London a lot, and didn't comply with many new laws.
People Barking Bout Quicker Changes,,,,,Whats The Hurry She Was Pullin Fine,WRAGGING THROUGH THE BOX 😉 "DRINKS" FUEL!,,,FROM AN O/OPERATORS POINT OF VIEW,,,,U NEED DRIVES LIKE HIM!!!!
Can't understand why anyone uses the clutch pedal after pulling away from a standstill using this gearbox. just makes your life harder and there's no need ... even when splitting.
Keeping it in the green and very smooth.....a professional driver. Miss these lorries
From a fitters perspective I wish all drivers treated the equipment like this .... great driving.

Top driving and smooth as silk gear changes
Lovely smooth driver, a real pro, and what a sound Freddie the Foden is making.
Awesome mate👍
That's ounds like the devil himself gargling with listerine....terrifying sound...what a machine I want it lol
Gear changes timed to perfection, can't beat a constant mesh gearbox and doubling the clutch for clean professional driving. Thanks for posting.
billalbion no need to when you get the revs right. Slip on in and out.
Very smooth driving and shifting👍 That truck sounds just perfect 😎
It sounds gorgeous and probably feels the same to drive too.... 👍👍👍

Sounds gorgeous and looks like a nice wagon to drive as well. Cheers for posting.
Every time I sit in a Volvo Fh 500 I feel like its a scooter. The sound is so quiet. This is how a truck should sound like
I'd say it not first time he's driven that 😆😆
beautiful, sounds like a choir of angels singing.

Great Sound!
cow foot stick. was called so in finland. 13 gear fuller, best gearbox never ever made. My half automatic, clutch only to put first gear on.

had a cat with this box on an alpha it flew great machine. this sounds like a roller to me i may be wrong .good vid
I have an erf with a 14 litre big cam Cummins and a Eaton twin splitter gearbox i loved that truck
Definitely rolls Royce isn't it ❤️
Sounds fantastic. I think this might be kitty cat power but could be wrong.
After a day in that you knew about though…

she defo got a roller in her
Oh indeed sounds so good
He loves a big knob in his hand.
Not entirely sure it's a Cummins, not with the red engine pull stop in front of gear stick. I reckon it's a Perkins? Could be wrong though
A beautiful landscape, indeed! Where was it?
The engine sounds most enjoyably. May I ask what engine it is?
compliment
I love the sound of that engine making a yarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr noise :-)
Childhood
Very smooth 👍
lovely sound
She's Talking!!😉
Not sure if its a Cummins or Roll’s nice sound all the same
great to drive with no clutch smooth as silk she sounds like she got the perkins eagle engine

That only applies for conventionals where the gearshift goes directly into trans.

Powertran diesel. Old skool pete truck
I hve had enough of changing gears around town Allison automatic transmission is the go
Brad Leamon god awful gearbox
Dustcart transmission.......
Cant beat the sound of a Cummins on full angry ... Cry me a river scanny fan boys lmao.

13 speed fuller and twin splitter gearboxes are different , you need the clutch with the fuller.
Painfully slow gear changes....you can change instantaneously with that gearbox.
