Need some advice. 10 YO and his 1st year. I played some juco and D1 walkon. I think I've heard you say that travel ball for this age is a money grab. I tend to mostly agree. I didn't even want mine playing rec ball unless I coached but here we are. Do you have any good recommendations for getting or simulating live at bats. 3 months we've spent 3-4 hrs at indoor hitting facility in the weekends, about the same during the week after work. He has had 16 ABs and still isn't confident in what he is seeing.
Sometimes he loads, sometimes he don't. He will often react out of the pitchers hand instead of staying in there so the inside strikes are eating him up. Some of these kids have some wacky deliveries and not a single one is over the top. Most are 3/4 so I get why he feels like the inside pitch is gonna be too far in. So much of what I see is just inexperience but it's hard for me to simulate the distance, arm slot, speed even If could throw that much BP lol. Just any tips (I've watched most of your content) would be appreciated
Can’t simulate live without a live pitcher; but machines work well to help feel more comfortable with velocity and trusting the swing. 16ABs is not a lot for young kids and definitely not enough to feel comfortable or trust the swing if it’s not fundamentally sound under pressure
Great drills and explanations!
Much appreciated! Tell your friends😉🙏
Any tips on bringing 10u practice swing into the batters box? We do your drills consistently, but in the box, he's back to all arms.
Practice more off live pitching or pitching machine with higher velo
@Hitting Done Right - HDR thank you
Do the bands work for all ages or are there different sizes for kids and adults?
Works for both. I should mention we got got 2 for use on both arms
Same size for all

I've told him to shadow our bullpen but his coach is like scrambled eggs and the bullpen is a pretty tight space
