Congratulations John. Miele has ergonomic operation down to a science and that is one area where they excel over Sebo. They’re just better in hand. One accessory from Miele that I have found that I can’t live without is their SUB20 articulated and elongated universal dusting tool. It makes quick work of ceiling to floor cleaning.

That was also my first impression after buying a Miele Marin and already owning several sebo canisters, Mieles wand handle is much more comfortable than Sebos

I’ve owned one of these for 3 years. Here are some TIPS:
    1. To recline the power nozzle, only press down on the inner side of the button (closest to the neck). Do it slow Slowly so you don’t force it if there is any resistance. If there is resistance, start over. The bigger non-headlight nozzle (SEB228 / EBK360 WW) does not have that problem. As long as you recline it this way, it should never break.
2.) Grease the wheels on both sides with WD40 original. Gets that wheel-rubbing noise to go away. That drove my crazy when I bought mine.
3.) When rewinding the cord, make sure it is pulled out away from it so it isn’t pulling it back in with the cord coming from around the canister’s side. I’ve never had an issue with the cord reel, and I use mine daily.
4.) The plastic ends of the wands on these break every now and then. I use mine daily for about an hour, constantly adjusting wand length and changing out tools, pulling it out of the nozzle, etc. I’ve replaced my C3’s wand once after my 2 year old whacked it over the railing of our stairs. That broke the telescopic function. To avoid breaking the plastic ends, you must use tools on them and if you have the handle out of the wand - that’s when the top plastic piece will break if the wand falls over on a hard surface. Even if that peice itself doesn’t hit, the force of the impact going through the wand can do it as well, over time. So, I’ve learned to keep the handle inside of the wand, or if it’s out, to keep it safe from my 2 year old.
5.) Any time you open the bag compartment, push the bag back down into its collar if you don’t replace it and only use genuine Miele filters and bags. Other bags leak and tear easy.
If I had to go back, would I buy it again? Yes. 10x over. It is the easiest to use canister I’ve ever used. It filters the best. Suction doesn’t seem to fade like it does on my Sebo. It’s quiet. It’s hygienic. I love having zero dust inside the bag compartment outside of the bag, and that the bag self-seals. Allergies have gone down significantly since using it. Suction is high. I’ve learned to be mindful of the wand and power nozzle recline button. There should be a note in the manual on how to recline the SEB236 power nozzle to avoid breaking it. Reminds me a lot of my Kenmore Progressive but it’s built a lot better than that unit was and is even more versatile.

So beautiful! I love everything about it except for the SEB 236 head. It’s an absolutely terrible head for large amounts of hair. It great for the average home but the belt actually picks up large amounts of hair and deposits it in the body of the head. It also get caught in the spindle and burns. I had to take mine apart every couple of cleans to get out all the dog hair and I finally just stopped using it. I absolutely love all other Wessel Werk heads though.

That's a bummer to hear. I have a Shiba and was wondering how bad the hair would be for the head. The removable brush is one of the reasons i'm thinking of the E3 or D4 over the C3.

@@zenbyo I love both Miele and Sebo so much, but you will be so much better off going with the E3 or D4 over the C3. The D4 is one of my favorite canisters of all time. Love my E3 too but use the D4 way more often due to its large bag.

I have 3 Miele wands for different machines and have never had a durability issue...the newest wand from a 2019 C2 electro+ (made in China) had the connector into the powerhead crack right in half when I accidentally dropped it 🧐 maybe they have changed their plastics.

@@JohnSmithNE3478 with the SEB236 power nozzle, you have to be mindful of how you press the recline button and pull it back. You have to fully press down the inner side (next to the neck) before you even attempt to pull the handle back. Once you fully press it down on the inner side, THEN gently and slowly pull the handle back. If you feel any resistance, stop and try again. If you force it through that resistance, it will break at some point and require more and more pressure on pressing the recline button, and at some point even that won’t work. HOWEVER, If you do it this way, you’ll never have a problem with it. I’ve broken that mechanism twice on mine (I have same model C3 Brilliant) and the second time the Miele dealer told me to do it this way. I love it that nozzle cleans our carpet though. It leaves nothing behind. Lifts the pile and leaves nice vacuum lines. Many of my vacuums won’t do that except for the Kirby. It also has excellent agitation. I also have the SEB228 (the next level down), and haven’t had any issues with that one. It tends to pull me though, and is louder. Doesn’t have a bumper, but overall it cleans just as well. I prefer the more refined feel of the SEB236 power nozzle (the one the Brilliant has). Also, the best way to buy the bags is to buy the bulk pack that comes with 16 bags, 4 premotor filters and 1 hepa exhaust filter. G/N bags and SF-HA50 hepa filter. It’s $100 bucks but even with 6 pets, a toddler and 4 adults, that back lasted well over a year. I did have to buy more exhaust filters. Oh and btw, they say the premotor filter is supposed to be replaced after every 4 bags, so I mark on my bag with a marker which bag out of 4 I am using so I know when to replace it. The HEPA filter is supposed to last 50 hours, or roughly 1 year of use based on Using it for 1 hour per week for 12 months, or for 30 mins twice per week. Don’t forget to squeeze the green tab on the exhaust filter when it is new. I like to date mine as well so I can gauge how long they last in my household. Enjoy it!

I don't like how Miele put the word, "Comfort" on the cord retractor. Why? Just show the plug icon and that's it. Less is more. Also, I don't like the lights, probably because I'm not bougie. I like simple. I would prefer the C3 Calima with the Wessel Werk Turbo Brush.
