Very thorough and rational in most respects - obviously with personal biases included as such a list should. Well done; appreciate the effort. My only quibble (and I have a similar quibble with other watch content creators like Teddy B, Jennie Elle and the Watch Gringa) is the emphasis on finding small pieces that fit your, um, dainty wrists. As an 8-inch wrist man…it’s always struck me as odd to downgrade a brand you otherwise very much like the designs and models just because you lack the size to carry it off. I wouldn’t downgrade Cartier because I can’t wear a tank without it looking like a farcically small petite women’s model on my own wrist. Same with classically sized Pateks - obviously beautiful pieces even if they’d be comically small on me. Yet so many watch channels do the opposite “amazing craftsmanship and design…but egads they’re all, gasp, 42mm and up…if only their amazingly complex and beautiful perpetual calendar flying tourbillion minute repeater with 500m water resistance came in a 36.5mm case with 7mm thickness!” 😂 Again, it’s your list so personal preference is understandable on design language, perceived quality vs value etc. But we can’t control our wrist sizes which of course vary widely from effete Europeans to chunky American men to Samoans like Jason Mamoa. Seems to me brands should be judged on their fit, finish, design language, quality, aesthetic appeal etc but if the boxes are checked for those factors, penalizing case sizes that might not work for more delicately framed men but look great on others’ wrists seems an odd factor to penalize. I’d rank GO higher - yes many similarities to their neighbor ALS but price points are way different and given the high quality, I’d give GO more love. Not to Grail but higher (A). I will buy a PanoMatic Calendar soon but would need a very special occasion or huge annual bonus or inheritance to get what I want from ALS anything I want from them is 2x to over 3x in price.
Thought long and hard about Lange... I mean, I love them so much, but I wondered: do they objectively "deserve" to be top tier? Then I thought about the finishing on the Handwerkskunst and their movements, the horological masterpieces that are the Zeitwerk and Triple Split (not to mention the Double Split), the iconic designs of the Lange 1 series. They are one of the greats - hands down
Great video! I was quite honestly surprised at your rating of Rolex. But hearing your opinion on it makes sense to me. Although the external factors and the hype surrounding the brand are rather cringe-worthy and fake, I do like some of their models. Nevertheless I noticed that as my taste in watches gets more refined, it is slowly but surely moving away from Rolex 😮
Everything is subjective of course, but I see little to disagree with here. Ball perhaps slightly short changed... their build quality is exceptional. Fun video! Thank you.
Very low, had a poor customer service experience when I bought my flygraf, asked them a query, they promised to get back to me and didn't. Since making my review video the watch has stopped winding automatically and I'm not looking forward to trying and getting that sorted. Only had the watch two months so running into issues so early doesn't bode well.
Man what a shame. I really like some of their designs and their history seems cool, but I've heard way too many CS horror stories to seriously consider them.
I would also prefer Tudor over Rolex! Rolex business ideology is contraversial. But Rolex as E... That is too hursh criticism for me. And Seiko as a grail tier? The movements' accuracy, recent price increases wouldn't support it. Prospex, pressage usually have 4R and 6R movements. Those movements are like lottery... I wasn't lucky with my 6R. Great brand, but only a few watches should be Grail, not the brand.
Lange and sohne + patek phillipe (To my understanding so far... Were all learning..but im pretty new to this hobby). The 2 grail companies I'll never be able to afford but can dream about for free. My next favourite is omega .i really dig there vintsge stuff..still looks amzing and reasonably affordable compared to other watches of that pedigree / style imo. I havent seem much of a p yet..nothing caught my eye Rolex ..i really wanna hate them cause they get so much hype / attentuoj from non watch enthusiasts but they are obviously classy . Breitling..sane as you. Dont grab me . Just my 2c worth of the top end .. Again i dont claim to be any expert.. Ps that spiderman watch that costs about 300k is very cool. Cant remember who made it ..if i won a 100 million in lotto. Id get 1 of them for sure.
One thing I would say about this is that you really shouldn't be worried about being an expert, I certainly don't claim to be one either. It's all about finding what you like, all the knowledge in the world won't make much difference to that in the end ^^.
Entertaining video as always. So much I want to say, but I have to drag myself out of my pit and do some work…however, we need to talk about what “Grail” means!!!! 😉
@@XX-vu5jo I mean there's a video about my Rolex on the channel I'm not sure what you want me to say, I'm allowed to like Casio more, not sure why this has offended you so.
I disagree with a lot of the choices here, but I also find it refreshing to see such unconventional takes. There’s no use in another list that ranks these brands by price tag and prestige/popularity. This is just one guy’s opinion. It’s good to disagree; it makes the discourse a lot more interesting.

Great list! Agree with most of your rankings! Both Tudor and GS are at the top of my list

Ball are a little beyond my usual price range I go shopping in, I'll definitely have a closer look
The trouble with Ball is they make spud ugly watches. Great history & specs but flipping fugly

Love Christopher Ward hoping the 38mm Twelve is released as a standard model I will be buying one.
Funny you say that, I've been thinking about selling mine if they release the 38 with the new bracelet like the one from the X.

Seiko is the best of the best because its quality/price is the best, while all the Swiss-made watches are insanely overrated.
