      Honestly same I thought wow I’m gonna be an awful pusher if I can’t be quite like these you tubers ... I don’t like pain and miscarriage pains were bad ... but I’m glad Laura posted this makes me feel like when the time comes for a rainbow baby I won’t be as scared to deliver. And I didn’t know labor on all fours was an option when I’m in pain that’s usually how I end up so knowing that is kinda cool I just see a lot of on the back and pushing videos

      Laura did NOT want pain meds! To stay unmedicated during the birthing process was Laura’s top priority. And of course a healthy baby. In fact she told the doula to help her to stay unmedicated even if she would ask for pain meds unless she say that safeword. They talked about it in detail in the weeks before the birth and there is a long youtube video about it. These are facts and so its a shame to spread hate towards the doula when she helped and supported that much.

Because I have tattoos the doctor treated me like I was pill seeking. He was actually mad and upset when the CT came back that I needed emergency surgery.
      Yelling, loud moaning or any vocalizations would've made it worse. (for me)
      I think the loudest I was, was with baby #2. I didn't moan or yell I just aggressively kept telling the nurse I wasn't gonna lay on my back or uncross my legs cause her head was out. Lol She didn't believe me so I just kept saying, the head is out people. I'm literally holding her in." The resident caught her on her way out and the bed wasn't even broken down.

My second child I panicked,pushed him out and my water hadn't even broke. Out of the last three one epidural took. One half my leg went numb and the other didn't work at all. @@wheresthecomedyspiritualit7113 fuck no transition is nothing like being high. U should be dead and the pain is so goddamn unbearable, humans can never survive that amount of pain and survive unless it’s during childbirth because ur body just manages to keep u alive. When I was giving birth, I wanted someone to kill me. Cut my limbs off, stab my heart. It’s paralyzing pain. A Charlie horse all throughout ur body but times a trillion while also having contractions all throughout ur torso that feels like a chainsaw. Nobody knows how horrible it is until u go through it. I was so set on doing natural. So set on nobody seeing my vagina due to ptsd. But God, deathly pain really makes u lose ur dignity. I honestly recommend the epidural to everyone. No one except the cruelest people out there deserve that pain. But…it’s worth it. It doesn’t last forever but it will be the worst time of ur life during that moment. Any mother to be who wishes to have an epidural, no shame in your game. Natural childbirth is not for everyone. I would choose an epidural myself. Some women have actually had strokes, heart attacks and have even died giving birth. It’s appears to be a very thin line between life and death of the mother. I thank God for mothers. • @rosey4exclaim
      @rosey4exclaim 3 года назад +5

      Okay, but that's exactly what a doula is supposed to do. When you're giving birth (or your partner is giving birth), you can't always think straight and remember your birth plan, and doctors can take you off course pretty quickly. The doula is there to make sure you have the birth experience you want, and that means they have to be assertive. I also didn't see when she inserted herself between Laura and Stephen, only between Laura and the nurse/doctor, which is sometimes her job.

      Laura wanted an unmedicated birth, she often talked about it. As she said at the end she "always wanted to see what natural childbirth is like". Another reason is that the recovery time for a drug free birth is so much faster. Laura was showing us how beautiful and magical and empowering a natural birth can be. She did it and had her baby her way and the Doula supported her to achieve that goal, she did absolutly nothing wrong. Something so beautiful happened and you're just sending negative vibes.

    • @amandamead81
      @amandamead81 3 года назад +22

      @@deworelmo8324 They aren't sending negative vibes. They are merely pointing out what the doula did wrong. She was negative & pushy. She should've never told laura to take castor oil for 1. Everyone knows that's unsafe. Plans change during birth and that's ok. She should've been supportive in whatever laura decided. That's her only job. She shouldn't have scared Laura about the IV pain meds. It was hours later that Penelope was born & even if she had been born quicker that doesn't mean she would've had to be seen by the nicu. I had IV pain meds 5-7 before my son was born & he was completely fine.

      Actually, that means a lot to me, even though the comment wasn't directed at me. My labors were both very noisy and intense like this (posterior babies!), and I felt like I wasn't doing it right. Even though I had prepared to the best of my ability.
      After my first, my labor nurse said "This is why you need to prepare!". She meant well, I guess. I liked her anyways.
      During my second, a home birth, I was arching my neck a lot. The midwife and birth attendant kept saying to keep my head tucked, which was physically impossible for me. My husband tried telling me to keep my head tucked and that's the only time I've told him to shut up.
      Ugh, all that rambling aside, thank you for your encouragement. This is the only vlog on YT I've found that resembled what my labors were like, so it means a lot.

      MOST doulas are supposed to do everything they can to ensure 1, mother's comfort (as much as she can be), and 2, advocating for mother's wishes (in the case that medical professionals or others in the room are doing things that mom has expressly said no to, or not doing what mom has asked for). They also are supposed to acquiesce to a change in plans. This douls has done a TERRIBLE job of educating, advocating, or making mom comfortable. So naturally I was screaming in pain and my nurse told me “you need to be quiet, you’re going to scare the other moms” and I never felt more weak and stupid in my life. I went from 4 cm to 10 cm in an hour on Pitocin. No epidural - the anesthesiologist on call apparently was called into back-to-back C-sections and by the time he could get to me it was all over. I was screaming, and a nurse did the same thing to me - came in and told me to be quiet because I would scare the other moms. But I *couldn't* be quiet - and I felt horribly guilty and self-conscious, which sure didn't help the situation. I remember crying in between contractions because I felt so bad I wasn't "doing it right" and I was afraid she would come back and criticize me again. Looking back, I feel so angry with that nurse for making me feel that way. I want to go back in time and say, "Lady, YOU try dilating 6 full cm in one hour on Pitocin contractions with no epidural and see how quiet YOU can be!" I'm sorry you had a similar experience. Birthing women need support, not criticism.

      @EileenS 1959 not mine. My nurse with my second was horrible. She came in and told me to be quiet because I was going to scare the other moms. The pain was so horrendous and every time I had contraction, she would get an attitude, occasionally roll her eyes and say it wasn’t that bad. I remember trying to be quiet to please the nurse because she just made me feel like an inferior person because I couldn’t handle the pain. My husband got upset with her and told me we needed to do something about it. We finally ended up requesting a different nurse. I have pelvic and lower back issues and because of the way my baby was positioned it was causing a great deal of pain. My doctor was amazing though and she was really upset with the original nurse and apologized for her behavior.

If anyone has anything negative to say I hope she just ignores them. Men especially they have no idea the horror or pain women endure. bravo Steven for being so active in the process and trying so hard to be there for her where many men can't seem to show the most simple forms of empathy or at least sympathy.
